Should I keep my nicshots and base in the fridge? Are they gonna be better preserved this way?
submitted almost 3 years ago by TommDiamond

Here in my country the only nicotine we have comes in 10 ml bottles, 20mg (freebase). I know that flavors can be kept at a normal room temperature, away from the sun, but if I buy like 5 nicshots and make 8 bottles of 10ml from them in like a period of 2 months, should I keep the bottles in the fridge?Same question for my 100ml 50/50 base. Or I can simply store them on my shelves, away from sunlight and that’s it?

Hi. Since you‘re buying small amounts that is getting used within a few months, it should be fine if you keep it in a cool, dark and dry place like a closet or basement. PG and VG do not need refrigerating. I always buy 5 or 10 liter jugs of each. They don’t go bad easily. Your nicotine could be put in the refrigerator, but again being that it’s a rather small amount, I doubt it’s necessary. If you buy larger amounts, like in liter bottles, you‘ll want to split it into smaller amber glass bottles and „freeze“ it, but that isn’t the case here. Are you by any chance living in Europe? the problem is that even if i keep them away from sunlight, in the apartment where i live it is not really cold (it is more than warm because my girlfriend gets cold very easy) and even if i buy like only 50ml in 5 bottles (i use 5-6ml of nic in every juice I make) i wanna make sure they don’t go bad.

Used to be a wholesale manufacturer and can confirm. Freeze or refrigerate "usable" amounts in smaller bottles. Make sure to remove all the air you can by filling to the very brim.

Nah, it'll be fine. I've had base and nicotine sit for over a year in a room that actually does get a little warm (I didn't mean to leave it in there tbh) and that juice tasted fine! Just got some fresh juice and can't tell the difference. It's usually good unless it's in direct sunlight

I do the same and it works

I can't give You the scientific explanation, but what I know - nicotine is highly reactive and oxidize easily, so preventing any possible catalyst, is a good solution.

(Once, my 120ml bottle turned RED within one week, so good luck - turning orange/red is sign of oxidation)

my nicotine is transparent and it doesn’t get opened until I use it. Should i refrigerate it?

In short: Yes

Preventing any catalyzation factor, is a good idea, not opening it, is as well

thanks. it’s not a freezer,it’s a fridge so the temp is not that low,i hope it won’t affect or change my juice. Just wanna keep that nic fresh to get the right throathit!

Freezer!!!

Pure nic in pg base doesn’t freeze. I have maybe 200ml left in my freezer right now, been there for two years, still fine.

If it’s not as cold as possible, it will oxidize eventually, becoming increasingly brown, and then every juice made with it will hit rougher and rougher as it gets worse.

*Don't buy orange/red liquids, even if it's something with a lot of sweet like custard, it should be yellow!

Also, aroma speeds up oxidation, so try adding it at least 1 day before using nics.
