Starting out with vaping I tried so many tobacco vape juices and salts and they usually disappointed me which is what made me go to vaping bakery/custards instead. I first tried fruits for a few years and now I’ve moved to bakery. But this is all store bought or online pre made commercial none DIY juice. Every few months I would try a tobacco juice only to be lead down. Most had an undesirable flavor in them. I enjoy a tart,vinegar-like and earthy tobacco and haven’t found one yet so I decided screw it im going DIY. Placed my order of NIC. Time to make my own flavors. I’m sure there’s people here that have tried hundreds of flavors. Me I’ve only tried about 50 diff juices/salts of all flavors . I’m looking for tobacco conesures though. Would a tart earthy tobacco be a burly? Mr salt e had a tobacco that I liked but it wasn’t tart enough but they shut down. Juul Virginia tobacco I like a lot but I dislike how Virginia tobacco’s some of them have an undesirable flavor like a hey-like taste. I was recommended American patriot by naked juice but it was spicy which was an undesirable component. What DIY flavors do you recommend for me?Do stores carry flavors I can mix with? I heard I can buy pg/vg at stores but flavors?

What is a good custard?
i've tried a fair few of the tobacco flavors. I suggest staying away from TPA, FA, FW, or MB Tobaccos in general and stick with FLV, INW or SC/FE tobaccos instead. If you check my post history or the wiki, I have reviewed many of them here. My FLV Tobacco Pack Notes covers most of the FLV stuff. My Intro to Tobaccos post covers the mixes that were popular up until 2019. It definitely needs an update. I've made many a tobacco recipe and have written some thorough reviews that also include ways to use the flavor and how to approach mixing with them. I've done more mixing and tests than trying what's been done since 2020 so I'm a little behind on what's been done lately in terms of trying them myself. AMA

From what you said, I recommend any of these to start:
FLV Red Burley, Cured, Native, Kentucky, Lovage (will give you 'earthy' moisture at 0.2%)
INW Black/Dark for Pipe (a bit ashier), 555 Gold (a bit sweeter but nutty Golden)
HS RY1, No. 5
TPA Western (if you want a touch of a leather taste use at 0.2-0.5%)
Thank you so much as you are the exact type of person I was hoping to run into. I was hoping to find someone who has been experimenting with tobacco flavors for a while. First can you describe in detail what made the flavors you've tried and don't recommend undesirable? Is it an undesirable flavor? Can you go into a bit of detail on at least the few major brands you mentioned? Did you have the same experience as me with commercial tobacco juice where most of it was not very good and many of them straight unvapable? Were do you recommend I order these from?
Well first off, I recommend you read the post I linked. That should answer the question of why I recommend those flavors. They’re just good. The bad flavors are pretty much just bad. No matter what your preference, I can bet you’d not like them. Try your hardest to not overthink this. That’s my suggestion. We all start somewhere and, when you try what’s available, you’ll just know how to describe better what specific flavors you’re missing in your collection.
There used to be a site where you can get all the odd baccos but now I’d suggest get what you can from bcf, then get the rest from fj, chefs, diyvs, or inw direct.
When I first started vaping commercial, I tried a cigar flavored house juice that was not very good. Kept me off the stinkies. After that, I vaped a bunch of Black Note (NETs) and I liked those. When I got here, everyone was all custard cream happy and I tried. It wasn’t for me. Luckily I took the suggestions from old timer tobacco guys and tried a bunch of stuff. After trying those, I learned what I liked and could ask more specifically for things. Anyway, you get what I am saying, I’m sure.

It's a great write up and has solid recommendations. I'm on mobile but full disclosure my comment is stolen from another person, I can't take credit for anything just FYI!
I think when people are looking for a tobacco flavor to replace well..tobacco they are looking for the wrong thing. There's a special taste you get from the combustion of the tobacco that you just cant get from a vape no matter how hard you try. That's why most people think tobacco flavors suck
I started the same way in 2012. No good tobacco flavors ANYWHERE! I've been mixing baccos for a while and have just about tried most flavors available. I have to say my favorite brands tend to be Hangsen, Inawera, Super Conc., and Flavor Art. No good tobacco mix is complete without Bitter Wizard [FA] and Dirty Neutral Base [INW]. FE MLB is decent and HS USA Red is a good start as a base. I would get a good base recipe you can vape, make 120mL, then fill a 20mL bottle you can add a drop or two of new/different flavors to see if you like them without throwing out a big amount or suffering through it. I may have spent as much over the years on trial and error with tobb flavors as I've saved from quitting smoking! Lol. But I have a literal book of tobb recipes that I love to vape. My issue is as soon as I find a flavor I like, it gets discontinued or something. :/ The biggest take from the whole journey so far is HAVE FUN!
Fascinating. I'm spending some time looking up each of the flavors you have mentioned. One that was impressed upon me is Bitter Wizard which is used to eliminate the natural sweetness found in pg/vg. Dirty Neutral Base to give it an ashy tone from what i looked up but i could be wrong. I think i'm going to try going for a burly tobacco flavor. I could be wrong on my reasoning but it's a acidic/tart which i've been looking for in a tobacco to mimic the vinegar-like of the juul tobacco virginia. And I'm trying to get the earthy tone of the mr salt e tobacco. Juice has been discontinued. Seems all of the tobaccos i've tried have been missing the throat hit as well. What do you recommend to get a throat hit in a tobacco?
A little higher pg ratio (70v30p) or 80v20p will give a better throat hit along with using freebase nic (not salt). SC American Red has that earthy taste and FA Burley will give the tart like taste albeit with a mild floral note reminiscent of fresh unburnt tobacco. Tobacco Absolute will give a bit of the sour/vinagary taste as well as up the throat hit, but be careful with it, a little goes a long way and it has a reputation of gunking coils when used excessively. I like the "Tobacco Additive" offered by Flavor Jungle (formerly ecig express, the ones who now carry flavors express brands.) Hope this helps!
Some of my favorite tobaccos:
Flavorah: Red Burley, Tatanka, Cured, Connecticut Shade (cured & connecticut for you especially)
Inawera: Gold Ducat, Dark for Pipe, Gold for Pipe, Black for Pipe, Garuda, Cuban Cigar (you will want garuda & cuban for your profile)
Hangsen: RY1, Deluxe, Gold & Silver
Might also want to consider the Turkish tobaccos from each of those, very dry and peppery but can be finnicky.
Other flavors you mentioned:
Apple: FlavourArt Fuji (THE go-to apple, gets very floral and funky if you lean on it too much so combo with something else), Inawera Two Apples, Purilum Country Apple
Custard: Capella Vanilla Custard, Inawera Custard, Inawera Creme Brulee, FlavourArt Custard Premium, The Flavor Apprentice Vanilla Custard (not everyone is a fan but it has unparalleled eggy-ness)
Trial n error, theres tons of different tobaccos concentrates, theres Ry4 which is a mild carmel creamy tobacco, theres plenty of tart. ,sweet n candy apple flavorings .In the states Bull city should have everything you need besides the nic n maybe decent bottles which I'd get at Amazon and a 25$ digital pocket sized scale is fine from them too, they have a ton.Its easier doing it by weight( grams) thank by volume (ML with syringes and beakers etc) but an ejuice calculator has both Grams n Mls right nest to one another.I use the calculator at eliquid recipies..com which also has the largest data bank of recipies in the world 😁
