nicotine storage
submitted almost 3 years ago by bill_carrr

So I used to mix juice about 3 years ago but got lazy and started just using a pod with menthol tobacco and buying the one pound eliquids. I'd like to start mixing again and have a bottle of freebase nicotine in my freezer that's been there for about 4 years. Do you think it's still good to vape? I've not looked at it yet so don't know what colour it is but it's in a green glass bottle from a reputable company. Cheers

I'm currently mixing with 4 year old nic from my freezer. It's as good as the day I stored it. Which is good because I have decades worth.

Ha! Yeah, at the rate I mix I have enough for the next 15 years. And it has been in my freezer for at least 4 years.

Try enough for the next 175 years. I lowered my nic intake by 90%.

Hey, good for you. I'm down to around 5 mg per 100 ml bottle. Rapidly running out of my favorite flavors though...

At the very worst it will be peppery tasting. Mix up a bottle with your preferred nic% and just vg/pg to isolate the flavor and see if you’re willing to use it.

My bet would be that darker glass in the freezer will be just as good as the day you put it in

I'm finishing up a bottle that's maybe eight years old? I've kept it in a cabinet. I have no idea what the strength is at this point but I mix to 3mg anyway.

I haven't died, so that's a plus. I'm pretty sure there's some strength left because I can tell when I vape 0 Nic.

You give me hope. I have a few bottles that I meant to move into amber glass and put in my chest freezer...2 years ago. Uhh...I didn't. And now I'm tired of spending absurd amounts of money on tiny store-bought bottles but I keep doing it because I'm afraid to try my nicotine in a mix and find it's gone off.
I'm gonna make a batch, test it out and hope for the best. And if it's still usable I'm getting into the freezer right away!

I have some I've left in their plastic bottles in my fridge for over 2 years now, and it's perfectly fine. Not peppery or anything.

I'm not saying yours is guaranteed to be perfect, but it's definitely worth a try at the very least. Peppery nic isn't the worst thing in the world.

I've got nic that old in my freezer and I wouldn't hesitate to use it.

I’ve used four year old nic that was just sitting on a shelf and it was fine. You’re good.

+1 used almost 3 year old nic that was sitting on a shelf. It's kinda yellowed but it's still fine somehow.

It should be fine, OP. I've had it keep that long perfectly using the plastic container it came in. That glass you have it in is even better. Make sure you have a very nice fitting lid on it and try to keep the headspace in the container is minimal as possible to lower oxidation rate. When my bottle gets down, I'll swap into say 2 smaller ones.

Sweet in that case I'll have to dust off the old drag s and get mixing. Cheers all
