Modifying DTL recipes for MTL vaping
submitted almost 3 years ago by Wise_Electric_Wizard

So i've recently switched to MTL and I've noticed all my DTL recipes taste very mild. How do I change these recipes for MTL? Doubling the concentrate levels?

What would Water Malone look like if it were designed for MTL? Thanks guys.

I have a recipe that's mine, I increased my wife's mtl %'s by 10% (3% becomes 3.3, 1% becomes 1.1) and that seems to work, if still weak try 20% or more, it's all experimentation do a small batch and go from there

Flavour is not as good in mtl as in dl.. I also switched to mtl at the start of 2022, and switched to tobacco Flavours, and imo it's the best for mtl experience.

Simple profile. More PG. Loads of sweetener.

Yeah I mix Mtl for my GF and have to use Mint menthols,Citric fruits and tobacco for decent flavor to come thru.Otherwise a standard Strawberry cream let's say, needs stacked high percent strawberry or any average fruits same thing..I found mixing Natural fruit with the candied version of it Def helped in that aspect 😊🤙

The coil makes a big difference...

Bare round wire doesn't have much surface area. A Clapton wrap even of a single core will help.

Adding a little more mass will also help. You'll get a slower coil, but you hit it once you hear the 'hiss'. The added heat here also helps.

I usually use something like 2x32 core wrapped in 40 gauge, stainless 316L for temp control. Flavor is pretty good.

Check out https://www.steam-engine.org/wirewiz, and try to keep the heat capacity of the wrap at or below the combined heat capacity of your cores.

Edit: If you don't want to mess with building your own, wireoptim is pretty reasonable, especially if you hit their 30% off sales just about every holiday. Use steam engine to figure out what you want, and order a pack of 10 for 6 bucks on sale.

Im using a MTL Alien @ 0.7 ohms (3x32g+40g) ni80. Flavour is still really meh. I might try jusy doubling concentrate levels.

So that should be about 30W for a warm vape... is it spitting a bit when you apply power?

Edit: could be the atomizer... What are you using?

Pulse AIO, it crackles nicely. The power band is 15w to 35w. I think the issue here is the e-liquid not the coil or device.

Not "DOUBLING" but yes with lower watts you wanna push the main profile flavor up about 3-5% then the additives like creams, bakeries another .05-1%.If my DTL recipie total flavorings are 12% I want my Mtl recipie up to about 18% .That's 6% more spread around the recipie but the main profile you want out front then judge the rest for yourself.I went from Mtl to Rdtl/DTL for that very reason but some swear by Mtl but with single wire builds they simply didn't last long enough for me but a subohm or pod mod coil it won't effect your coils lifespan cuz those are lined with a mesh 👌Yes step up your flavorings with Mtl
