Strawberry lemon flavor help
submitted about 3 years ago by slm2021

Any suggestions how to improve this recipe. The strawberry won’t pop at all and can barely taste it and the lemon part faded and I feel it needs more tart. I’m looking for that commercial taste, like very strong flavors.

TPA- Ripe Strawberry 3% TPA- Strawberry 5% LA- Lemonade 6% FE- Lemon 2% Super Sweet 1.5%

a lot of people who DIY can’t taste strawberry concentrates. inw shisha strawberry is the only strawberry i can taste. it’s kind of a thick, syrupy strawberry. try that one and see if it works better for you.

I use it around .25% in any strawberry recipe just to make the strawberry pop

I don't DIY anymore, but when I did I loved a recipe that had tpa strawberry ripe and bit of FA lemon Sicily. Like 0.5-1.5%. It popped the strawberry right where I wanted it to.

Look up strawberry savage, strawberry slayer and simple Limon on all the flavors. All of them have strong flavors and you can probably draw some inspiration from them.

I would try boosting the lemonade by adding some Flv lemonade to it. You could also try swapping the La lemonade for FW lemonade natural.

As far as strawberry goes, test out different strawberries to see which ones you enjoy the most and pop the most for you. Check out Inw shisha strawberry, Fa juicy strawberry, Fa strawberry(red touch), Fa strawberry sweet, Cap or Tfa sweet strawberry.

Personally I find 1.5% super sweet to be extreme, might even be muting your flavor somewhat. Have you tried using a lower percentage? Have you tried Fw sweetener or Flv sweetness as well?

There are better, newer concentrates for what you're making. Lemons are notorious for fading, happens all the time. I know Strawberry shisha is the best for thick, syruppy flavor. Also, FJ Ultimate strawberry is a good one.( People have mentioned the shisha below) I think Flavorahs lemonage(also mentioned already) is considered the best lemonade. VSO has some really good lemonade flavors-try any of them. Just suggestions for you to consider.

Do you guys think adding 1% Tpa dragon fruit will help the flavor?

TPA Dragonfruit will blend the strawberries together and add a bit of syrupy sweetness. INW Cactus at small percentages (0.5% is a good starting point) adds a bit of juiciness.

TPA Strawberry Ripe brings some of the "greener" aspects of strawberries, in my experience, and TFA Strawberry is more on the sweet side. I like using FA Strawberry as my primary, as it brings a really nice tartness and great flavor.

One of several versions of my strawberry ADV:

FA Strawberry 3% (Tart, Bright)

TPA Strawberry Ripe 1.8% (Green, Natural...ish)

CAP Sweet Strawberry 1.8% (sweet, TPA Strawberry could fit in this slot)

TPA Dragonfruit 1% (Blending)

INW Cactus 0.75% (Juiciness)

LA Lemonade 4%

WS-23 0.25-0.5% (I genuinely think this is THE additive that everyone should have)

CAP Super Sweet 0.25% (Optional, to taste)

INW Lemon Mix was discontinued, iirc, and I would often use it around 0.75% to add a sharp, sour boost to LA Lemonade.

What would you replace inw lemon mix with? Do you think la lemonade and flavor express lemon would make a good base? What percentages?

I have yet to mix with FE Lemon, though it has a great reputation. I might start with LA Lemonade around 4%, FE Lemon at 1% and balance from there.

I don't know this specific flavour you are using and would recommend to check FA strawberry variety but I do have to say that lemon can mute slightly the fruity flavours from my experience. Try may e reducing slightly the lemon flavour to see if it makes the strawberry pop or perhaps adding some complimentary flavour such as red apple might help

Look into RF Strawberry Lemonade, with either CAP Sweet Strawberry or FA Red Touch. Add some super sweet if you want, but that strawberry lemonade is sweet enough for me. A little lemon will make strawberry pop, more than a little will mute it for me, especially that LA Lemonade.
