Hi all Finally got off the cigs and im on salts now. Been mixing my own juice for years for sub ohm coils. I usually mix that at 9 to 14% total flavouring.
However for salts it seems to be different. Seems i need much more. So how much % total flavour would you generally use when mixing salts?
Total flavoring is not really a good indicator of flavor - some recipes have plenty of flavor at 4% total flavoring, some need almost 20, it really depends on the specific flavors you're using.
Also, freebase and salt should be the same - there will be less throat hit with salt, but you shouldn't need more flavor if you change from freebase to salt nicotine.
Switch to salts years ago. I use 100mg/ml so i only need minimum for my 6% of nic im at. What ratio is ur salt? If u need alot, it could dilute ur flavors. I did not see a need to adjust with my setup with using 10-14% flavors.
There shouldn’t be any difference in flavor between freebase and salts. Changes to a recipe are usually made for the device used. A recipe with multiple layers and nuances vaped at 80W will taste different in a pod at 14W. I don’t mix for pods but usually what you want to do is keep the recipe simple. A bump in flavor doesn’t hurt either.
If by you mean 25% nic strength, which i advise against as thats a high level but hey im not your doctor, in a 100ml batch you would use 25ml of salts. I love using 100mg/ml nic, makes the math so easy.
The salts are much higher % than freebase nicotine that you vape in subohm mods. You actually get up to 50 strength on nic salts.
But my question is around flavour percentage. If i were to mix something for a sub ohm at 10% flavouring. How much % flavouring would it be for salts in a pod device.
Hi. You‘d mix it the same - at 10% - and try it. If it‘s lacking, then tweak and adjust it. There‘s no % or ratio to increase by, it depends on your flavors, device, wattage, coils. Like if your recipe had FLVRich Cinnamon or FA Corn in it (both insanely strong and intense) and you increased the recipe linear, it would be ruined. Flavors don’t work like that. If you end up deciding that it needs tweaking, you will have to tweak each flavor individually.
Also, if you‘re mixing for pods, you‘ll want simple recipes. Search for „pod“ on ATF, u/hexical made a bunch of nice fruit recipes.
Short answer, id bump up flavor by 50% by ratio.
I understand the pod system and nic strength. Im just a chain vaper with a cloud tank so i only use 6% nic. With pods, your able to get that high nic levels without the harsh hit, still delievers high amount of nicotine and if I was hitting that like I chain vape my mod, i would get sick. So since you are using, say the 25% nic, it would overpower the flavors. You want to probably bump up to 20%+/- so the flavors are more present. Tweak to taste, the beauty of DIY
