Flavor Review Friday: SC/FE B & H / B&H

SC/FE B&H

Setup: mtl STNG 0.7 Ohm 2.5 ID 28/40 clapton 28.5W

nose: AP with a bit of leaf?

2% - at 1 day: Boy this is selling the dark bacco vibe very well. It still isn't very leafy despite the smell. It's more like you took some dark tobacco syrup and boiled it down until it was a dark concentrate but got the slightest faintest smoky/ashy note and then dried it back up into a leaf that wasn't quite a leaf. Which is an admittedly shitty description. I mixed this up as a second tester when I never took notes on the first one. I didn't have anything to vape and remembered this one being strong enough that I figured I could get away without really having to steep it. SNV, it's fine. Surprised to see how well it showed up right there on day 1.

The ashiness isn't quite FLV KY style, it's maybe even more akin to a hint of DNB. I think I would want to use just the slightest bit of DNB to ash this up just a bit more and then figure out something mid and high to sit on top of it. I like what these guys are selling on this one. Maybe it's because it isn't full on chocolate like so many other SC/FE ones and it is really rich without being sweet, bold without being offensive. Maybe after doing a bunch of these I've come to appreciate the sort of inoffensive blend of AP, dark brownness and sweet that seems to characterize them all. It seems to have quite a bit of potential to just deepen and enrich a mix in the same way that maybe Black for Pipe would have been used but significantly less bold, ashy or prominently so; more potential to blend into a mix. Or maybe even like 1% of this with 0.2% FLV Cavendish to make a pipeish blend kind of like a Dark/Black for Pipe without the aggression.

(Ok, by now I have Single Flavor Tested way too much of this stuff. I started this review weeks ago and have been on and off vaping 30 mLs of B&H the whole time. I have had it in mixes, made a recipe with it and just reach for it for no good reason other than I really enjoy the stuff. Lately I been thinking I would like to try it with coconut and I dont even like coconut that much. So I'm adding this parenthetical paragraph without even reading any of the other crap I wrote and I am saying I like this one...)

Suggested percent: as a bottom note 1-2%, accent I can see you going as low as a half a percent to deepen and darken a mid or high note mix for some variety.

Pairing ideas: with that slight natural hint of AP and that deeper darker semi-sweetness, I might like to try this with some nuttier bacco flavors and some golden caramel type flavors that i prefer but could use some darkening up and blending. I might even try this paired with the less tobacco/more ry4ish flavors. I could see a mix of this and SoHo with something to break it up, like in the realm of what RY4 is supposed to be, but on crack:

|%| flavor | |--|--| | 6 | FA SoHo | | 1 | Tpa French Vanilla Creme | | 1.5 | SC/FE B & H | | 1.5 | WF Caramel Butter | | 2 | WF Caramel Rice Crispy Treat|

Tried it and since updated to play off SoHo Time:

NoHo Time

Tried and tested MTL, still waiting for feedback on it for revisions. The idea was to fill out SoHo Time by toning down the recipe and adding a few accents for a very full flavored MTL mix. All that and a potential to swap out the flavors for variety.

| % | Vendor | Flavor | |---|--------|--------| |1.5|SC|B & H| |1.5|WF|Hazelnuts & Cream| |2|FA|Meringue| |6|FA|Soho|

Second Opinions:
I found very little on this flavor at ELR or ATF. Probably the naming doesn't help overall, but I'm not even sure I found the precise flavor at ELR at all. No surprise there.
Edit: Adding u/BigTidder's note here:
> Sweet grassy and tobaccoey. Not bitter like Parliament. Plum/raisin. Grassy note same as in Golden Virginia. Really nice easy tobacco for newbies.

Final Thoughts

I think overall, I've grown very accustomed to the SC/FE style of tobaccos. They are not extremely varied (as has been said before) but they have each a specific small difference that makes them kind of distinct as solo flavors and as supports while keeping them interchangable without any real issues. I find the absolute best use for them is to make a formulaic Ole Reliable combo and to swap out the varying SC flavors for just slight differences. This has kept me going for a good while. Try Cured : Red Burley in a 2 : 1 ratio, add 1-2% of any SC Bacco and toss in whichever vanilla you are feeling for that day and you will have a happy adv bacco vape. Enjoy the rotation. Just build from there.

Lastly, they are all somewhat dark and AP heavy. Toss in any cream/custard with 2% and you will have an easy peasy dessert vape. Their general lack of tobacco leafy/ashy/woody authenticity can be easily made up for with some INW or FLV or played into with more desserty type mixes and/or ry4ish types for people who dont want that bacco blast. I certainly enjoyed this one, maybe more than I should have. I'm rather enjoying the sweet dark base break from the now all-too-familiar FLV flavors. As always, I have no idea what I'm talking about, but it's good to be 'back'.

Damn so many flavorings I want them all this one sounds great. Ive skipped this one in the past thinking it would be a menthol. Mint and menthol are about the only profiles I don't like. Thank's for the review much appreciated.

menthol can be wonky. I still havent found had a menthol mix that really wowed me. I added a link to u/BigTidder's notes but here it is again. He mentions which ones he's had that were menthols if that helps for you to avoid them: https://www.reddit.com/r/DIY_eJuice/comments/rd59lr/comment/ho335k8/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

My favorite menthol recipe is probably Juicy J's Strapple Mint after a good long steep for that watermelon to bloom out. I mix it with menthol at 0.75% and it's a regular in my rotation.

I find the menthol/sweetener combo in my April Fools recipe is pretty sublime. It's a good palate cleanser.

I’m having an annoying time tracking down this flavor because BCF’s search engine doesn’t like ampersands, Google thinks I’m looking for camera equipment or microelectronics, and ATF’s vendor sourcing links on flavor pages are still hooped. 😂

Well there’s a few on fj that I have but their selection is way cut down. I hadn’t even quite realized how few they carry these days. At least they seem to carry the better ones.
