SC/FE Wenston

Setup: mtl STNG 0.7 Ohm 2.0 ID 28/40 clapton 28.5W

nose: seems like more of this AP blend type

2.5% - Whatever this combination is, it seems to come much closer to a cigarette feel than some of the other flavors, but only in specific ways. The two major gripes I have with it is 1) it's got some harshness to it (throat hit that steeped out a little bit after a week) and 2) it's just not as overall tasty as some of the other flavors I tried. On the whole, a little less sweet than the Va Flue Cured, Cigar, etc. but dark, like really dark almost like tobacco sap (not quite runny or sweet like syrup). It gets borderline but not quite all the way to that dark fruit/raisin vibe that is so elusive in vape juice. This one is not a complete stand alone imo but has potential to get bent in a few ways for those who like a bit of a challenge. While it really doesn't present as leafy, leathery, ashy or aromatic as I've come to rely on the FLV bacco flavors for, I did find the flavor intriguing if not for that darker note alone and the lack of comparable sweetness to the last few I tried. Probably better as a support note but this could be a decent neutral dark base to accompany a medium or brighter tobacco flavor, or with the right darker fruit notes added can fill out that raisin-y note that can be quite nice.

Suggested percent: Solo (not sure I would want to without support) 2%, as a support flavor/base I'd probably say 1-2. Can't guess how well the distinct darker notes would poke through but I suspect it would make a nice accent below 1% to any mid/high bright tobacco.

Pairing ideas: I would like to try this with INW Dark for Pipe 1:1 for a rich, flavorful base to layer on top of. I could also just see pairing this with your dark fruit of choice (VT Red Dates/TPA Blackberry; thinking for a replacement in a layer for one of my recipes there) or dark liquors (Jamaican Rhum/Bourbon) and idk what to balance them out a bit, maybe nothing? Just lean into the darkness? I would also be interested to see how this plays with something nutty as I'm not sure how that would mix at all -- like what if I mixed it with Red Burley, bit of something to fill it out that was AP heavy and dry? Could you get a well rounded analog feel with nut, raisin-y moist shaggy ryo feel? Just a guess:

|%| flavor | |--|--| | 0.75 | FLV RB | | 2.5 | SC Wenston | | 1 | FLV Native |

Second Opinions: Not much out there on this one. It wasn't mentioned on any Noted episodes. It's not in our flavor wiki. It is used in exactly zero recipes on ATF for an average of 0%. And there's only two notes (one useful) on ELR.

Final Thoughts

Like many of the SC/FE Tobacco Flavors I have tried so far, this one seems to fit the pattern of dark semi-sweet base with one distinct note that is overall very soft and likely fairly forgettable. Nothing I have tried so far has been offensive at all except that Havana Dry; Don't get that one. They all each have like just one thing added to them to make them a bit different than the rest. That alone always makes me wonder what would happen if I mixed them all together, but my natural inclination is to think of how to use them to pair up with the better parts of some of the other flavor vendors. Overall, they're pretty sweet making them fairly tasty as single flavor tests and I have literally finished at least one 30mL tester of each (minus HD) without issue. So, I'm thinking, who might like this, or these flavors, overall?

  • Knowing now that the SC tobaccos were likely the flavors used in early commercial tobacco juices, I'd say anyone wanting to chase older bacco ejuice commercial clones/nostalgia for one.
  • Anyone who wants to slowly edge into some tobacco juices but find that the FLV ones are too aggressive for them, want something sweet for a dessert tobacco, or just a stepping stone to something more aggressive but without the leaf/ash/wood of the FLV/INW flavors.
  • Steep times on them are fairly short at the 2% range I have been testing them at. Off the shake, they're ok and fill out over the week. I had heard they were massive steepers and let a few steep a month and didn't notice any huge difference. I also have an admittedly tobacco blindness as I've gotten overwhelmingly used to them so YMMV.
  • They work pretty decent as solo flavors, so I'd also say anyone who wants to buy one flavor to carry a mix may also benefit from these. Cohiba, Virginia Flue Cured, french pipe, Turkish, 555... I can see all of them being someone's go-to single flavor mix and all could be made easily into a 2 flavor ADV fairly easily. As CBV said, Cigar & RY4D could easily be your next Preemium juice.

Why does this feel like 'goodbye'? When I vaped two 30 mL bottles of Parlay and then looked down to see I had no notes for it, I realized I've kinda had to put this line on pause. I think I'm going to start trying out a bunch of stuff I have been putting off for another project and trying to learn a few things about some profiles I really know nothing at all about. So... expect some real amateurish reviews up ahead. I look forward to your ~~hate mail~~ comments...

I got this one too .. So far out of all the SC/FE tobaccos, Black Mile is my favorite - it pairs well with so much and is even good on it's own.. As I mentioned on one of your threads is the SC/FE tobaccos is all there was in early vaping - I vaped them all and they were always solo.

Then this run must’ve been a trip down memory lane. On the whole, they mostly did alright solo even if they weren’t too distinct or aggressive. I hadn’t realized until you said it that these were what was used in early bacco juices.

What’s the difference on that BM and BM Ultimate?

I haven't tried BM Ultimate but my understanding is the chocolate is more pronounced. Black Mile would be the one SC flavor that truly stands up to time (IMO).
