Following a little tradition some other mixers have had with “mega recipe reviews”, we (u/QueenBuzyBee, u/SpiderJRusalem and yours truly) decided that we keep the tradition going (we’ll do this at least once, haha).
The assignment we gave ourselves here was the same as in the other mega reviews: to find 2021 recipes by mixers that are not that very well-known with recipes that have little to no reviews. We all went through the “What can I make?” function on alltheflavors.com and picked three to four recipes each.
Each review has a link to the recipe so I won’t list them here. Have fun reading through these and remember: everyone has their own taste and preferences. What you read here are our own private thoughts on these recipes ;)
The reviews are given as they are written by the reviewers, so no extra editing on my part.

For this review, I’ve chosen 3 recipes that were to my liking, profiles that I love. That being said, you can expect a lot of creaminess and vanillas! Let’s get started!
The first recipe I tried was „Lovely Pear of Coconuts“ by tinwhistlin.
https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/231470#lovely_pear_of_coconuts_by_tinwhistlin
Description: Basic Coconut and Pear mixed with Bavarian Cream.
Tested on a Wotofo Elder Dragon RDA, 3mm triple fused Clapton, 65-70 Watts off the shake, after 7 days, after 10 days and after 14 days.
(The description states SSA Ripe Pear being used, as did I. I think it’s a database error, there not being a SSA Pear)
To be honest, I don’t really care for most fruit vapes, the exceptions being strawberries, pears and a few select banana recipes, but always in conjunction with cream, custard, ice cream, cake, etc. With pears being one of my favorite fruits since childhood, this recipe caught my eye and was a must for me to try.
Off the shake: I taste mostly pear, leaning towards a natural pear with a hint of coconut, but not much creaminess or custard. I‘m getting a bit of sharpness, probably from the pears. This one needs a steep!
Day 7: At day 7, the creaminess really starts to come through and the coconut is a bit bolder. It seems that the developing creaminess has also toned down the sharpness I was getting off the shake. I really like where this is going.
Day 10: No real noticeable change to day 7.
Day 14: Wow! To me, it’s at its best around day 14. It now has a really nice thickness and depth to it, everything seems to have come together without being muddled. There‘s pear and light coconut with plenty of thick cream. Very nice, not overbearing.
I did make 2 versions of this, one with the suggested CAP Super Sweet and one without. I can’t say which one I like better. Without CAP Super Sweet it’s lighter. With CAP Super Sweet I could see myself adding a bit of WS-23 to get that frozen vibe because the flavor reminds me of Japanese Mochi ice cream.

The second recipe I tried was „Not Quite So Plain Jane Vanilla Milkshake“ by sorteal.
https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/240414#not_quite_so_plain_jane_vanilla_milkshake_hitchhikersguide_by_sorteal
Description: A more complete version of my Plain Jane Milkshake.
Tested on a Wotofo Elder Dragon RDA, 3mm triple fused Clapton, 65-70 Watts off the shake, after 7 days and after 14 days.
Let me tell you, just reading the recipe makes my mouth water. I love vanilla everything - soap, candles, pudding and, of course, milkshakes! I just had to try this one!
Off the shake: It starts out being more of a vanilla milk, kind of thin. Definitely a steeper!
Day 7: After a week, wow, it’s not thin anymore. It’s malty and creamy. I should have mixed a larger sample.
Day 14: After 2 weeks, my goodness, it’s thick, smooth, malty sweet and rich - nothing plain about this. It‘s lovely, quite decadent and absolutely enjoyable.
I could easily see myself adding fruit to this recipe, but also 0.3-0.5% WS-23 to give it that authentic cold milkshake taste. I‘m usually not big on coolants, but profiles that are cold when eaten have to be cold when vaped, otherwise they just taste wrong to me.

The third recipe I tried was „Buttermilk Pie V3“ by CATA.
https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/245878#buttermilk_pie_v3_by_cata
Description: Pastel de suero de leche.
Tested on a Wotofo Elder Dragon RDA, 3mm triple fused Clapton, 65-70 Watts off the shake, after 7 days and after 14 days.
I‘ve never had a buttermilk pie, at least not that I can remember, but I‘ve enjoyed plenty of buttermilk. Time to try something new!
Off the shake: It’s milky and some hints of cookie come through. Not very enjoyable off the shake imho. Let it steep, let it steep, let it steep!
Day 7: It’s getting there. A nice crust, not so much cookie anymore. And creamy vanilla custard with a bit of sweetness.
Day 14: I‘m tasting a nice thick and rich vanilla cream, somewhere between a pudding and a custard with a touch of dark sweetness. And lots of crust, a nicely baked crunchy crust, lightly browned, almost graham.
But now here’s my question to everyone who’s ever had buttermilk pie, „where’s the buttermilk“? Since I mixed this recipe, I‘ve been searching for the buttermilk, waiting for it to magically appear, but it’s nowhere to be seen! No tanginess like I‘d expect from buttermilk. It’s not a bad vape by any means, I‘m just disappointed that I can’t find the buttermilk. I‘d rather call this one a custard pie or even a pudding pie!

Hot Bourbon Cider by anawfulwizard
https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/238569#hot_bourbon_cider_by_anawfulwizard
I wanted to see what this was all about, as I was recently working on a very similar profile. This one is pretty straight forward. You definitely get a lightly spiced apple cider with a touch of bourbon. The Bakery Orange isn't recognizable as an orange to me, but seems to lend a nice touch that blends in with and deepens the apples nicely. The only thing I'm really missing here is a bit more wetness. I had a bit of an issue with dryness as well while building my cider. And maybe a bit more whiskey bite, but I'm a whiskey fiend. Overall, I enjoyed this one. Good job, Wiz.

Stroopwafel by Chardesc
https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/239241#stroopwafel_by_chardesc
I chose this one, because stroopwafel. I've never actually had a real one, but it's on the bucket list for sure. This one is also pretty straight forward. At first I was hit with a boat load of thin, crispy, roasty waffle. This sort of came across a little too dry at first, but after vaping it for a short while the caramel started to peek through and remedy that. A really nice mid to mid-dark caramel, nice and smooth to goop up that wonderfully crispy waffle layer. It's a little high on the super sweet for me, in general, but I think it's almost necessary here. I can't speak to the authenticity, but if this is anything like a real stroopwafel I'm moving to Amsterdam and dying fat and happy, stroopwafel clutched in my fist.

Torta Di Pasqua by SeanVapes
https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/220798#torta_di_pasqua_developedwf_by_seanvapes
I chose this because there are a few things that scare me when choosing to mix a recipe from ATF. This has two of those, which are chocolates and recipes that only use one flavor house. That being said, I thought this might be a good one to try out. Unfortunately this one suffers a bit from being an all WF recipe. The recipe is very light. I do get some chocolate that is fine, but does come across a bit waxy. I get almost a cream or custard cake vibe as well, but again it's fairly light. I didn't get a whole lot of the hazelnut, unfortunately. I do like where this could go, but I think to nail the profile it would take a fair amount of work. It's not bad, but I could really go for some more flavor from all of the layers.

Misty Forest by saspi
https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/239658#misty_forest_by_saspi
I chose this one, because I find florals interesting and if I come across a good recipe using them I'm a happy guy. This one is definitely on the floral side, although I can't identify exactly what florals are happening, but they aren't too much and are very pleasant. The mint is real nice and adds as little herbal, earthy depth and nice touch of cooling. I can tell there's something mildly fruity happening, but I would have never picked out the SSA Forest Fruits here. That being said, I don't think it needs it. It may lend itself well to bring developed into a more fruit forward recipe or something though. Overall I enjoyed this one. Nothing is really out of place or too aggressive. The florals blend together nicely and the mint gives the mix a really nice little kick on the end. If I was going to mess with it at all I might try to blend a little more fruit in and go for a more specific floral vibe. Good job.

Draconian Tropics Kuri_remix by Kuri_san
https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/230318#draconian_tropics_kuri_remix_by_kuri_san
I must first admit that I haven’t tried the original yet, but that will be done soon, I hope. I tried this remix first after 6 days.
Guanabana and Pitaya, what’s not to love!? This is a fruity, tropical mix. I must say I can hardly distinguish the coconut here, probably because it blends so well with the guanabana and pitaya. To me, the two coconut flavours certainly do not take over, as the description says.
The weird thing is that I get an almost rose-like note from these three (or maybe all four?). A blind test would surely make me think there was a hint of rose or another flowery thing in here. Pitaya probably is the main culprit here, although it isn’t used too high, in my opinion. I say “culprit” but it isn’t a bad thing. I like it!
The description says this is a creamy or smoothie style drink. I do not get a lot of cream from it, nor a real smoothie vibe, although I do understand why the creator used this in his description. It’s not thick and not thin, it’s perfectly fine.
I can even see a little bit of WS-23 in this for a summer vape, and this is me saying this: I do not generally like cooling in my juice.
The remix actually added one new flavour to the original (by foment_life) and it works, but I suspect another coconut could make this even better (I haven’t tried). FA Coco is a bit of a “dirty” coconut to me, with a small off note I call “soapy”, others would probably say “coconut sunscreen”. It does not come through like that in this mix, but it could still be worth it to try another. Maybe MB Palm Coconut or INW Coconut? Or even WF Coconut Custard SC, but that is probably stretching it.
Overall a pleasant tropical vape, even after a longer steep. The rose-like note stays (for me) but that can be just my broken palate. Nice work, Kuri!

SPACE PUNCH V2 (Flavorah) by Slushy
https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/215096#space_punch_v2_flavorah_by_slushy
Again I start off with a confession: I made this recipe without the sweetener. I have none, because to me most juice is pretty sweet already. It will definitely impact taste slightly, so read my experience here with that in mind.
I tried this one from day 2.
What I get after two days, is… Wild Melon. The juice is pretty thin and not at all creamy to me. There are some hints of the other fruits, but they are by no means prominent. The description says this should be a mix of papaya, mango with hints of melon and coconut, but I mostly get melon. Just Wild Melon. So, I decided this would maybe need some time for the wild melon to smooth out. I left in in a drawer and tried again after seven days.
Six days later: still, melon. Still no other fruits. Left it for a long steep: no perceivable change except the little weird cardboardy taste I sometimes get from some FLV tropicals, like Mango.
Is this because I left out the sweetener? Could be, but I myself doubt it. I really think the creator could have used another melon in this mix, instead of this omnipresent Wild Melon that pushes all the other flavours away like a bully. I do not have any green melons, cantaloupes, or the likes, so I cannot suggest another one, unfortunately.
Does this make this a bad recipe? Not really. It is not as described, at least not to me, but Wild Melon still is a great flavour. It just is a bit disappointing that for me the other fruits do not come through at all. I am also missing the creamy part from the description. Long story short: I personally would ditch the Wild Melon from this and try another. Or maybe lower it some more, like to 0.2-0.25 so the others can have some room to shine more.

Mom, Make my Cereal! By BadLuc
https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/250102#mom_make_my_cereal_by_badluc
Once more: I mixed this without sweetener, just like the previous one. I do think CAP SS at 0.75 is pretty high though, so you might want to lower that to your taste (something the creator doesn’t mention). Another disclaimer: cereal breakfasts are not a very big thing in my country, so my experience with them IRL is limited. I also have’t had any cereal juices before this one, so be gentle with me here.
After 14 days this is pretty nice. It is not very milky to me with the cereal and caramel pretty forward. I would almost say it is a bit of a dirty caramel note (could be the ButtRip), hinting at an RY4 kinda vibe. I decided to let this one steep some more.
After a longer steep (I lost track of how long, maybe a month?) it was pretty much the same: caramel and cereal forward, not a lot of milky stuff and actually begging me to add some tobacco to it. I haven’t done that yet, but I might do it some time in the future.
Overall, this is a nice mix but it could use a little bit more balance. I myself would drop the ButtRip a few notches (say 2-2.5%?) and try and get a more milky vibe in it. Or just leave it as is and throw some tobacco flavour at it? I can see it work, but maybe I am just weird.
Thanks for the nod and glad you liked my remix on Draconian Tropics. The only reason I really remixed it was I thought the original by u/foment_life could be improved with the coconut combo from Leche de Coco (Coconut Milk) by hashslingingslashur (who isn’t active on Reddit anymore) .. this guy is actually the first guy that convinced me I could mix my own juice. And I remember years ago foment selflessly DM’d me a strawberry vanilla ice cream cone recipe.
I will always be fascinated with INW Dragon Fruit and FLV Guanabana. I recommend everyone try them
This thread is really great and very helpful, thanks for all your time and effort!
>I made this recipe without the sweetener. I have none, because to me most juice is pretty sweet already
Ah colour me jealous, I have chronic dry mouth so sweetener it's basically a requirement in every recipe for me, haha... Just a hint like 0.25% or less usually works for me though. Otherwise the vapour dries my mouth out and I can't really taste much.
But hey, get an amazing recipe like Cherry bomb with just 0.5% CAP SS and my mouth is watering when I vape it! So maybe no big deal
Good Job! Kudos all around.
A Suggestion . . . do this again, but make sure all the recipes have a common theme or flavor. Help people find/choose the best "Fill in the Blank" Recipe.
