I’ll be the first, i’m new to this whole diy experience, so does anyone have a good decent natural Strawberry, that’s like when you were a kid and Grandma cut up strawberries and sprinkled them with sugar? So i guess I’m looking for a close to real strawberry with some sugar sprinkled on top. I have a strawberry recipe but it’s more like a syrup/ jam flavor. It’s good but it’s not hitting that spot for me. The flavors i have are, Shisha strawberry, JF strawberry sweet, ultimate strawberry and Red touch strawberry. I will buy more if someone has a recipe or any ideas for what i can mix with what i have. Don’t want any cream or custard for now, just straight up Strawberry with some sugar. Thanks in advance.

I've been trying to make this with cap sweet strawberry but not getting any real flavor some times if my juice sits for about 2 weeks the end of the bottle will have some decent flavor but that is it.

This is my usual mix I've done: https://e-liquid-recipes.com/recipe/3079715/Spew-ish%20-%20240ml%2050/50

Any advice?

Flavor Jungle Strawberry sweet is a nice one. You might like it with just a bit of sweetener added. Like Cap Super sweet or Sugar Daddy or an one of the flavor companies sweeteners.

So I wasn’t going to ask since I bought these flavorings long time ago but got curious once again. I have bought from two different vendors in the past, Bullcity Flavors and Nicotine River.

When I mixed Bullcity Flavorings I remember the ejuice tasting creamy and juicy. Eventually I ran out and found out that Nicotine River offered more volume for the same price so I made a big purchase from them. Now every time I mix these other flavorings from NicRiver the ejuice tastes dull and dry, so different from the other vendor!

The recipes are the same, the flavorings are supposed to be the same (meaning tfa/Cap/fw/etc) but the outcome is different. Does anyone know what the issue might be?

I’m not sure I even know what you’re saying. You’re using a tpa from nicriver that you used to use from bcf? And there’s a difference in taste?

1 points

by mynameisluizonover 3 years ago

I apologize for not being clear. But yes, I use same same ingredients or flavorings form Nicriver and BCF and I found that there is a difference. Like if NR flavoring was muted

Holy Grail v2

Just received a 10ml bottle of this flavour. Can anyone recommend a good recipe? Or is it fine to mix it standlone... How many percent. I only vape 70%vg

https://alltheflavors.com/flavors/diy-flavor-shack-holy-holy-grail-ry4-v2

Not too many recipes using v2. If you haven't tried v1 you could always try recipes that used that. Even though they won't be "as good" as the original, you wouldn't noticed the difference, and it still might be as good as you'll get from v2.

1 points

by wheresandrewover 3 years ago

That's what I do. I'd love to find someone who could part with a few MLS of the OG but wish in one hand .....

3 points

by Apexifiedover 3 years agoThe Kingmaker

I've heard good things about the Flavor Jungle Holy RY4 that Folkart made but just that it's good, not necessarily that it fills the void left by the OG.

Gave the last of my v1 away to several people who thought much more highly of it than myself. It is a good flavor but I think most of the hype surrounding it is just one really good recipe that used it and, now, nostalgia.

Plenty of flavors out there to comfort you in its absence ;)

So I have a little bit of a case here... so I live in Austria(europe)and never got into mixing my own juice isn't that common up here, anyways I decided to go get me some capella sweet guava aroma from my local vape store. Now the question is if you could help me with a recipe since I know absolutely nothing about that 😅.I had these in mind tho capella juicy peach or sweet tangerine or juicy lemon to mix with the sweet guava if somebody knows more about that I'd be happy to read it in the comments. Thanks a lot

by Apexifiedover 3 years agoThe Kingmaker

You can go to https://alltheflavors.com/flavors and look up any flavor you're interested in and see all the recipes it's used in, that should give you some ideas of what flavors might go well with it.

None of the flavors you're considering pairing with it sound too bad. If you end up getting those you can check the average use on ATF and start there for your pairings.

If you don't have any experience in DIY mixing, you might want to read the Beginners Guide ( that's in the sidebar under Required reading). It has so much info in there, stuff that will help you tremendously as you start DIY. It's a priceless resource.

Mixed today some 3.5% fa fuji apple, ws-23 0.5% and cap super sweet 0.5% with some freebase nic How long should I let it steep?

2 points

by Apexifiedover 3 years agoThe Kingmaker

It should be fine after a good shake. Some people find FA Fuji to be a little harsh fresh, so if you do, give it about a day.

1 points

by TommDiamondover 3 years ago

Any review on the recipe? Hope i didn't mess with percentages, I just wanted to make a simple flavored apple juice. I wanted a simple recipe that would steep fast and be tasty

2 points

by Apexifiedover 3 years agoThe Kingmaker

It certainly hits the mark for simplicity, it's essentially a single flavor test with a couple enhancers thrown in. I enjoy Fuji in a bunch of recipes so I can't imagine it will be bad, it might not be something you stay interested in for a long time, but you can always throw something else in the mix if you get bored.

|FLAVOR|%| |:-|:-| |Fuji (CAP)|5.0%| |Double Apple (CAP)|3.0%| |Two Apples (INW)|1.5%|

Based on "REDS APPLE EJUICE CLONE (REMIX)" (https://diyordievaping.com/2018/05/22/reds-apple-ejuice-clone/)

Good SNV.

If you have FA Fuji, use 3% in place of the 5% CAP Fuji. Keep your WS-23 and SS.

by mechrobioticonover 3 years ago

Apologies in advance if this is annoying/the wrong way to ask, but I'm about to get into DIY eJuice--I haven't pulled the trigger on anything yet, but I have everything picked out. I'm getting into DIY eJuice for a very specific purpose:

I want to make a 40-50mg nic salt eJuice with a flavor profile not based on food, but based on flavor/aroma notes that I find personally pleasing. In other words, I'm trying to get into cocktail, almost potpourri territory with the flavor. Here's the flavor recipe I'm toying with, with absolutely no expertise or idea what I'm doing:

4% FA Bergamot
2% FA Lime Tahiti
2% FLV Juniper Gin
2% FA Blackcurrant
2% TFA Sweetener
1% FA Grapefruit
1% FA Zen Garden
1% FA Oak Wood

--I can tell, right off the bat, that this is probably unbalanced, overcomplicated, and will taste bad. Problem is, given that I'm an utter novice, I'm too ignorant to fix it. I'd use a recipe if I'd found one that reminded me of the flavor zone I'm trying to make work here. Anyway, I'm not hoping for success on the first try here, but I assume at least a few of you see some obvious ways this is a bad recipe. So, if it were you, how would you correct this right off the bat before testing and tweaking? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

2 points

by kuri_sanTouover 3 years agoDiketones, Schmiketones

FA Lime Tahity (Cold Pressed)? That flavor IMO is super concentrated. At 2% it’s going to bully everything. I wouldn’t use it over 0.75%. I’m not saying it’s a bad flavor but at 2% I’m sure it will take over that mix. Maybe consider CAP Lemon Lime which is more forgiving or VT Persian Lime which is an awesome lime for drinks. If you’re looking to carbonate consider VT Fizzy Sherbet. It has a lemon note, or VT Yoghurt Drink that has a lemon note but more creamy

2 points

by mechrobioticonover 3 years ago

Persian Lime it is! Thank you! Still do less?

2 points

by kuri_sanTouover 3 years agoDiketones, Schmiketones

I’m not sure what you’re shooting for. My advice is to use a scale and experiment with small batch tests. I never test over 6ml. The last thing you want to do is mix 120ml and be upset because the mix is unvapeable and you’re pouring it down the toilet

Holy moly I had been using my own stuff for nic salts for the past year and a half, had no idea the PACT act passed and now all my distributors aren’t shipping anymore? I’m looking through the sidebar for sites still shipping but it’s kind of hit or miss. Can anybody recommend a site for Midwest shipping? I really can’t afford the $20 / 30ml bottles sold at my local places.

In theory less sweetener. Darker flavors will ruin cotton quicker. NETs absolutely destroy cotton but I'm in love with them.

I'm struggling to find a decent DAAP free vanilla custard concentrate. Is it possible to get a winning vanilla custard without DAAP? 🤷‍♂️

I'm quite a fan of DX BC (TFA) and Banana Custard (VTA) but I was hoping I could find a vanilla tasting one.

At the moment the best I could find is FA Custard Extra (1 or 2) or DX Vanilla custard (TFA), however there doesn't seem to be much reviews out there on the FA custard extra series and most people say DX Vanilla custard is horrible.

Mostly looking to sub CAP Vanilla custard recipes (however futile that idea maybe 😁).

3 points

by [deleted]over 3 years ago

Every custard I have come across (and that's plenty because I like custard) has AAP in it. I don't think you'll find a custard without it. You'll also find AAP in other ingredients.

p.s. "popcorn lung" is a myth. Diketones are your friend (including diacetyl).

1 points

by fraudoover 3 years ago

yeah it certainly seems that way. Defo going to rethink my custard options if DAAP or AAP is my only option.

Really be interested to know from a seasoned custard veteran... do you have any opinions on the FA custard extra series or are they not even worth a try? My last resort would be to try pudding flavours but then they are potentially not the right profile.

1 points

by [deleted]over 3 years ago

The key to a good vanilla forward custard is using less heavy creams and add a good French vanilla. For a more vanilla forward I would look at TFA Vanilla Custard II, TFA Bavarian Cream and TFA French Vanilla Deluxe. Omit the Bavarian cream if you want to lean toward vanilla pudding instead of custard.

As a side, FA Custard Premium has diacetyl in it and Custard Extra is Premium without the D (but has AAP). Both are a light, balanced vanilla custard, but both also need less steeping.

2 points

by JooseMakerWannabeover 3 years ago

I think the FA Custard 1 and 2 are relatively new, so that's why you aren't finding much info about them. Also if they are DAAP free you probably won't find much around here, because this is a DAAP lovin' bunch!

1 points

by wheresandrewover 3 years ago

Any reason you're looking to avoid DAAP? I mean I know with diy it's up to you what you want to put in your body.

1 points

by wheresandrewover 3 years ago

I'm sure someone will have a better answer but Cap vanilla custard v2 and not a custard per se but VTA creme brulee is daap free I think..... Someone will be here shortly to correct me.

1 points

by fraudoover 3 years ago

Ah! I would love to give CAP VC v2 a crack but my local vendor doesn't stock it. Thanks I'll check out VT Creme brulee.

>Any reason you're looking to avoid DAAP? I mean I know with diy it's up to you what you want to put in your body.

I've avoided it so far in my DIY journey but I'm falling in love with desserts and bakeries so I guess my reasoning is mostly just to remain DAAP free. Seems like its impossible to find a decent custard without it though so I might have to rethink this.

1 points

by wheresandrewover 3 years ago

The whole popcorn lung thing wasn't what the hysteria made it out to be if that's your worry. People that got it were workers in a popcorn factory inhaling concentrated amounts of diacetyl iirc.

So my friend owns a reputable vape company and I asked him to sell me some nicotine. He sold me a 1000ml bottle and told me to use 6ML per 60ML bottle of juice and that would make the juice 6% nic which is what I vape usually.

Does that sound right? Sorry I’m super new to this

2 points

by Apexifiedover 3 years agoThe Kingmaker

It's likely your friend is telling you the right thing. In order for us to help we'll need to know what concentration the nic he gave you is.

if it's 1L of 60mg/ml then 6ml per 60ml is correct.

make sure to use a mixing calc https://diyejuice.org/guides/calculators

How much money will i need to invest in supplies and equipment in order to start making my own ejuice?

3 points

by Apexifiedover 3 years agoThe Kingmaker

http://link.diyejuice.org/simple depends on how much you plan to make and how many recipes you pick out to buy flavors for.

The biggest single cost will be nicotine because the few vendors that are left shipping are charging as much as they can get away with before they have to stop.

But after that you can buy enough stuff to make a liter or 20 liters, so it will vary quite a bit.

by kuri_sanTouover 3 years agoDiketones, Schmiketones

This question was brought up on the DIYorDIE discord like three weeks ago where a guy was looking to buy VG by the gallon cuz he was running out. He was told to not be surprised that the cost of a gallon of VG including shipping is almost five fold the price three years ago. I dug up an old invoice from NiRiv and he was right, this was when NicRiv was shipping for free if you spend over 50$. Those days are long gone

Does fa liquid amber have an effect on non fruit flavors? If so what does it do? Help

1 points

by Apexifiedover 3 years agoThe Kingmaker

https://diyejuice.org/reviews/fa-liquid-amber

It will definitely have some effect on the mix, not sure what it will do to most non-fruit flavors that would be beneficial but I have seen someone say they use it for chocolate to get a melted effect... not sure why it would do that but I haven't tried.

Might be on you to venture into the unknown if you have something specific you want to try it with.

1 points

by Dull_Wait6365over 3 years ago

Thanks, I'm looking for that booze fermentation type of flavor. Not necessarily beer-ish. I don't know what type of fermented they mean.

1 points

by Apexifiedover 3 years agoThe Kingmaker

The effect is closest to wine but I'm not sure how much that relates to it's use with fruits specifically or if it carries some of those notes as a single flavor. I've only used it in recipes and never felt the need to test it by itself to learn more.

It is the only flavor I've ever seen described as fermented. Depending on how much booze you want, you may need to add something else to get that.

Hey, currently can't access discord because my I can't complete phone verification (long boring story) so I thought I'd ask in here. It's a pretty simple but specific question but I'm hoping one of veteran awesome contributors in here will have an answer for me.

I recently picked up LorAnns Salt Water Taffy because Nom-Nomz didn't have the FW version and was curious if anyone had tried both and could give me a brief comparison. There's some info on ELR on LorAnns, but only one note and five (rating only) very mixed reviews.

Thanks in advance!

2 points

by Apexifiedover 3 years agoThe Kingmaker

Oddly enough I can only really think of one person who uses LorAnn flavors that aren't the typical popular ones and that person is in the discord.

If you do end up testing it our yourself you can compare it to Concrete's notes on FW: https://diyejuice.org/reviews/fw-salt-water-taffy

1 points

by Littlepaulioover 3 years agoFrugivore

I'm surprised that a couple of LorAnn's aren't in quite a few people's stashes. I know there is an issue with the ingredients used in their flavorings, but I also thought that their Lemonade was the Lemonade of choice for quite a few people. I also thought their Banana Cream was another popular one.

It's entirely possible that I've reached these conclusions by re-reading the same reviews by one or two testers, which would make sense, as reviews for the brand are few and hard to find.

Anyway, it will be a while before I'm back on discord, apparently it can take months for a phone number to be 'untethered' from a deactivated account.

Thanks though man, appreciated as always.

1 points

by Apexifiedover 3 years agoThe Kingmaker

Yeah, the two you mentioned as well as Cream Cheese Icing & Watermelon. All the rest of their flavors are barely used, partly because they are not great at disclosing ingredients, but also because a lot of their stuff just doesn't translate to vaping very well. Even the two you mentioned and Watermelon have viable/better alternatives, so the only one without a direct 1:1 is Cream Cheese Icing.

Also from what I've heard on the reseller side they're not fun to work with, so that probably affects the vendors interest in stocking them.

FWIW you could probably just make a new discord account. Most servers don't require phone verification. I've made alts for testing purposes and never need a phone number to use them. :)

There are so many flavorings to choose from these days, I think people have just found better options for what they want to mix with. LA has been around many moons, but this is the era of FA, FLV, WF, SSA, VTA etc.

1 points

by axxegrinderover 3 years ago

Well, I screwed up and got nic with VG. It's impossible to work with. My syringes won't suck it up, and it pools horribly in the narrow opening of my gorilla bottles. Any techniques to use?

I'm drawing a blank and so far all I've got is a huge mess and a single bottle filled after 30 minutes of dicking around.

Thanks!

2 points

by northrivergeekover 3 years ago

I have nic both VG and PG, Ive had no problems with VG if its room temp, I keep a working glass bottle of it 4oz use a glass dropper to add it to the mix, glass droppers have a larger hole than syringes do.
If you gorilla bottles mouth is too small you must be using lpde version not the wide mouth pet gorilla bottles as most vape juice retail is sold in.
And digital scale is the best way to mix by grams, not syringes by ml, digital scale is under 20 bucks make sure you get one that does 0.00 measurements

1 points

by axxegrinderover 3 years ago

Thanks, I have a scale and the bells and whistles. What did pop a lightbulb for me though is room temperature.

I had pulled the bottle straight out of the freezer right as I mixed. This was never a problem with PG, does that mean I'll have better luck if I let the nic sit out a couple of hours? Thanks !

3 points

by Apexifiedover 3 years agoThe Kingmaker

You'll have an easier time at room temp but what you need are some condiment bottles for your VG/PG. It's a lot easier to pour it in the bottle you're making than to use a syringe (even if the VG is warm)

Your link isn't working.

You can look up your flavors on https://alltheflavors.com/ & https://e-liquid-recipes.com/ to see how they're used in recipes. That will give you somewhere to start and both sites have mixing calculators that will tell you how much of each ingredient goes in the bottle.

1 points

You won't find better information than the beginners guide from the sidebar. All the answers to your questions are in there, along with answers to question you haven't thought up yet! People in this sub have shared a wealth of info! I went to that resource a hundred times when I started out years back. My best advice to you is BUY A SCALE!!! It really is the way to go for mixing.

Its 36 gram nic vg mixing juice .

1 points

by Apexifiedover 3 years agoThe Kingmaker

The information you're looking for is going to be different for each flavor. You'll need to look up the flavors you have on the sites I suggested in order to find out.

If all you have is 36mg nic in VG you'll likely need more than just flavors to mix up your first bottle.

Okay -- Asking here because the info on this sub is really kind of all over the place for new comers. I am trying to find a nicotine vendor that is actually selling nicotine. Nicotine river seems to be the only place I have found with, what I think I need, in stock.

Anyone wanna help me out and point me to where I can source my nic from? Seems to be the only thing I am having difficulties with. TY.

Thank you for the reply but I’ve already peeked at this.

I consider myself to be a pretty intelligent person but I can’t wrap my head around what I need to buy…which is pretty dumb. There’s nic in VG, nic in PG (lots of “out of stock” from what I see), nic in 50/50, nic salts.

DIY is much more difficult than I would have envisioned.

2 points

by Apexifiedover 3 years agoThe Kingmaker

It's really not but I understand it appears that way when you first look at everything. Pretty sure that's how it is starting most things.

What do you vape now? As in, VG/PG ratio, mg/ml nic...

1 points

by JulianMarcelloover 3 years ago

With so many vendors to choose from, I’m frozen. I’m looking to place my first order and hoping to find a one stop shop where I can find everything I need to get started. Flavors aren’t that important on my first order… I’m sure I can find something that I would like. I just want the VG, PG, nic and everything I need to get started on mixing by volume. I know I won’t mix by weight, so volume it is - so I need syringes, beakers, etc.. Recommendations for where to get my first order?
