How'd you get your handle?

I always wanted a cool nickname. Max isn’t bad, but Wolf is tight. I realized that being on the internet is like moving to a new town and getting to be whoever you want. That’s it.

How long have you been mixing for?

I started some time between March and May of 2020. I remember wanting more from eliquid and looking into DIY more right around the time everything was shutting down.

MTL or DTL?

I’m a wide open boy. I can’t stand MTL. For the majority of my time vaping, I have used mechs with big RDAs and low resistance coils. I like it hot and fast. I have started to venture into the great beyond that is restricted-direct lung through my recent purchases in the boro world.

Current flavor or profile obsession?

What a question. Spdr and I have been fucking around a lot with ice cream + cone recipes. I don’t know if that counts, but different versions of the same ice cream + cone base are being made often. I am obsessed with all of it though. Anything new or exciting is something I need to consume more of and learn more about.

Most/Least disappointing flavors that was/not as expected? Secret Weapon?

I live by with thought that most flavors have a place. Besides some that are universally bad, the rest can have a usable application. Except for SSA Creamy Pistachio. I don’t care what Dave says. Pistachio and lime should never be together and this flavor takes it a step further and adds effervescent milk. It’s gross.

If y’all look through my recipes, I don’t think I have a secret weapon. There are some repeating flavors like VT Sweet Cream or WF Vanilla Cream Extra, but they are used specifically for a recipe. I don’t have a TPA Vanilla Swirl that goes in everything.

Mixing Milestone?

Receiving one nod for Recipe of the Year was it. I have always known how good my recipes were me to because I built them for me, but to have someone else think one of them was the best of the year was surreal. Getting four nods for Recipe of the Year absolutely blew my mind; especially since two were for my off-the-beaten-path stuff.

Recipes you admire/love?

Most of my favorite recipe are things that I haven’t been able to pull off. Besides tasting incredible, the brains behind the recipes make them special to me.

Return Of The Mac (https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/248615) filled that gooey, caramel cookie void in my life. It has so much depth to it that it drives me nuts.

Two-Horned Pterodactyl(https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/225972) does the same thing, but it’s also a One-Eyed Turtle inspired recipe which was one of my favorite commercial liquids.

Drunken Custard: The Deuce(https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/211091#drunken_custard_the_deuce_by_bubbasbrewz) opened my world up to whiskeys and tobaccos in vaping. I had tried them before, but this was the first time that I enjoyed it. This is a very special recipe.

White whale?

My whole mixing life would be a black hole if I had a white whale. If I think of something, I take the time to figure it out. If I can’t figure it out, I move on. Like with the Gojo recipe, I couldn’t figure out taro milk tea. Nothing was purple enough. I put it aside until Wonder Flavors came out with their Plum (Purple). That was the missing ingredient. I definitely strive to complete a thought, but I am not so hyper-focused that I don’t allow myself to stop wondering.

How would you describe your mixing style?

I write a recipe down that I think will work and adjust from there. I know most of my flavors too well to go through the endless possibilities of what different combinations might do. It’s mostly just throwing ideas at the wall and seeing what sticks.

Advice for new mixers?

Do what you want. Don’t get caught up in monotony of collective thought that is the mixing world. Use people as resources, guides, and friends, but don’t use them as your mixing deities.
