Fieldy's Review Corner- Part Deux---- Cornbread Pudding Country Clouds Clone by BigRed
submitted over 3 years ago by FieldGreensMissing One Flavor

Hey bathtub mixers (I'm looking at you u/apexified), I've made it back to actually do another one of these. Is anyone reading them? Who knows. Maybe u/isuamadog and no one else. It's definitely possible. Either way, this week's iteration is my all-time favorite recipe.

Here's the link: Cornbread Pudding Country Clouds Clone

Here's the recipe:

|Flavor|Amount| |:-|:-| |TPA Acetyl Pyrazine 5%|0.75%| |TPA Cheesecake (Graham Crust)|3%| |OOO Corn Bread|2.5%| |TPA Kettle Corn|1.25%| |FA Maple Syrup|0.75%| |CAP Super Sweet|0.75%| |TPA Vanilla Custard|3%| |FLV Vanilla Pudding|1%|

Review Time

I'll spare you all a long drawn out thing here about how much I love this recipe. It's well documented. Asked and answered and all that jazz. It's my all-time favorite. Let's do an actual deep dive here.

The depth of flavor in this recipe is outstanding. There's some maple syrup, some cornbread, a really nice rich vanilla, and a really nice richness but subtlety to the entire thing. It's got fall/winter vibes written all over it, but I tear through this stuff year round.

On to flavor choices: FA Maple Syrup is way better than the TPA iteration. It's more cohesive, and has a darker amber flavor to it. Picture actual maple syrup vs the stuff that's really high fructose corn syrup dressed up as actual maple syrup. The body of the corn bread is a combo of the OOO Corn Bread and the TPA Kettle Corn, with an assist going to the TPA CCGC. OOO Corn Bread is a great flavor, but it does lack some body, and I give the creator credit for bolstering it with the TPA Kettle Corn and a touch of Acetyl Pyrazine to give it just a touch more. The CCGC lends some darkness as graham cracker would, and also a bit of sweetness on its own, as if you'd added some nice creamed corn to the corn bread when you put it all together. Next up is TPA Vanilla Custard v1. I know that there's going to be people that say "BUT WHY, THERE'S SO MANY SUPERIOR CUSTARDS!" Sure, that's true. TPA Vanilla Custard v2 is better. So is FA Custard Premium. So is CAP Vanilla Custard. Buuuuut, TPA VCv1 is perfectly good in bakeries, and tobaccos too, to impart a nice buttery vanilla without so much of the eggy or overtly custardy overtones that those aforementioned flavors bring. It's the right choice here, and it's given some help in the overall body with the FLV Vanilla Pudding, which helps the vanilla and the body without the custard either. It's a great combo and really fills in the backend. Last, and should really be least, is the CAP Super Sweet. This I actually sub out for FW Sweetener, which to me is vastly superior is just about every aspect, and I cut it all the way down to 0.25%. If you're new off commercial liquid, or you just like things real sweet, stick with the original recipe, but this much sweetener is just too much to me, and quite frankly, the other flavors are plenty sweet on their own. That being said, I've tried this recipe without sweetener, and it really does need just that little bit to pop. Go with the 0.25% FW Sweetener. You'll be glad you did, and so will your coils.

What can we learn from this recipe?

We get lots of clone requests, both in this sub and in the Discord. Many of them go unfilled, mainly because most of us vets think that you can do better on your own, and finding the exact flavors and proportions that a commercial outfit chose in a recipe is damn near impossible. It's not playing the lotto, but it's probably pretty close without some kind of insider information. I've tried a small bottle of the commercial version of this recipe, and this is better. First off, the commercial version is mind numbingly sweet. This is sweet as well, but more naturally so, and is way better balanced because of it. Second, this recipe is a great example of using flavor combinations to get where you want to be. The cornbread and the vanilla are both built with flavor combinations that took some creativity. OOO Cornbread was the obvious choice, but the combo with TPA Kettle Corn is what takes it to the next level. Same thing with the TPA Vanilla Custard and FLV Vanilla Pudding. Nice combo, nice result. It shows that if you're willing to try some new things, you might get some great results. As for the recipe as a whole, I think by now you probably get that I like it. A lot. A lot a lot. Definitely give it a mix if you happen to have everything, or buy the missing stuff that you don't. You won't regret it. See you all next week.

So I tried this recently (last week). It took me a while to get past the butyric acid taste which I happen to be able to taste most excellently (unfortunately).

Once I got around that off note I really enjoyed this.

I won’t be able to mix it again using TPA Vanilla custard, but will instead substitute it with either Custard NOW or FA Custard Premium.

Everyone around me on the bridge asked how I managed to get pancakes inside of my vape so they now call it Pancakes instead of Corn Bread Pudding.

I've mixed this up a couple times awhile back. Though I can't compare to the original since I've never had it, it was pretty good. The only thing I think I'd do different is maybe try plain graham cracker (clear) or something to sidestep the tpa cheesecake graham crust. I don't know what it is with that flavor but I'm not a huge fan. It's so identifiable to me that it sticks out like a sore thumb in any recipe and dominates it.

In theory it sounds great, oh it's a cheesecake or used low it's got a graham crust taste. It tastes neither like graham crust nor cheesecake to me. I've used tpa cgc in a number of recipes that call for it and they all taste similar. Maybe I'll try a little inawera yes we cheesecake with the tpa graham crust or some inw biscuit with a low % of brown sugar or something along those lines. The maple syrup definitely comes through, really rich.

Yeah I'm not a fan of Cheesecake Graham either and had the exact issue as you. I mixed this recipe and was blown away by how good it was until I was halfway done my 30ml. After that all I could taste was cheesecake graham and I ended up dumping the rest. I think GCC or maybe even greek yogurt would be worth a shot.

You sent me a sample of this one a while back and I tried it right away. I wasn't impressed and let it sit until I ran out of juice and then picked it up again. After a while, I started to pay attention to it. Total Sleeper Recipe. It crept up on me like a ninja and then I blinked and the 25mL that looked like a gallon the week before became like the last drops of water in a dystopian future. Really good and smooth recipe without any outstanding notes. Kinda reminded me a bit of Silky's Buttermilk Pie where it all blended together so well, it was almost easy to ignore that it was a mix of flavors. It comes across as one smooth deliciousness. Thanks for recommending, sharing and putting the word out there on great recipes I never woulda tried otherwise. I definitely woulda passed on this 1,000 times over. Keep 'em coming!
