The thread that's Still Going™! This is an AMA thread with a twist – the 'victim' gets to name who is next up in the rotation.
There are some rules:
- Try picking someone who hasn't gone yet

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
How'd you get your handle?
I have used this handle for a long time, both offline and online, in various spellings and different orthography. It's a name of one of the characters of a sci-fi/fantasy book. He actually is a bit of a bad guy in that story, but I just liked the name.
How long have you been mixing for?
I have been mixing since about October 2019.Right after I stumbled on this sub and the discord server. I had been reading a lot about vaping for months. I read all kinds of advice on local forums and was looking at getting stuff to vape. One shots, ready to vape stuff. But it was all pretty expensive here and since I am a cheap ass Dutchman, I was looking at doing it for less. I put aside my reserves to get on discord, a medium I had never used before, and met all the nice people there, patiently explaining all the different things I needed to know.
MTL or DTL?
I actually never really pay attention to stuff like that. I guess it is mostly DTL.
Current flavor or profile obsession?
I can't really pick a single thing. I like fruits, bakery and baccos. I also must admit my vaping has dwindled to vaping occasionally, I am 0mg nic and the cravings are completely gone.
I have been a little obsessed with getting a stroopwafel profile just right with the stuff I have on hand and haven't succeeded to this day. What I am obsessed with though, depends on when you ask. I tend to have some idea, then chase that single thing obsessively and after a while suddenly drop it, only to pick it up again after a long time.
Most/Least disappointing flavors that was/not as expected? Secret Weapon?
I have several things that have disappointed me. The most painful is me not being able to taste lemons very well in vape juice. I have several flavours that people rave about, but I am not getting much from them. Things like CNV Lemon Cream Wafer and FE Lemon taste like nothing to me. Another one that disappointed me was LB Vanilla Ice Cream. It ruined Daapled Pears by u/Foment_Life, but he was so kind as to make an excellent LB VIC-less version with FA Custard Premium.
As for secret weapons, I don't have any, flavour wise. The only secret weapon you need in mixing, is your own imagination, I guess. Take a flavour, a flavour profile, a recipe by someone else, and then work with that. Try it, add stuff, remove stuff, sub stuff (just don't review recipes by others when you subbed flavours!. Try things out, even if they seem weird. Most of them will probably suck. But in my opinion, it will often give you an idea how your flavours work and how they don't work.
Best practice is of course to single test your flavours. But I have never liked single flavour testing, partly because I am a lazy fuck, so I do it this way. Is it a good way? Idk, probably it is not the best way but it is how I do it.
Mixing Milestone?
I am not a prolific recipe maker, not even close, so I don´t have any real milestones. I have only two public recipes, and one of them is just a simple remix I enjoyed. The other one though, is a thing I am a little proud of, and that is my black licorice recipe, kokindjes. I put quite some work in it and it came out pretty good.
Recipes you admire/love?
Ah, there are so many good recipes out there. The first one that really made me go "oh my, this is GREAT!", was u/EdibleMalfunction's Custard Now. Shake and vape delicious custard, baby! I always keep some of this ready.
The other one that really blew me away was Rhino Cream by u/LilKittyBit and u/Zany. That cardamom in combination with the rice and pudding is fucking brilliant. Another one I always have a bottle of.
There's so many more, like Kawayan, Cabin, Cubanamella, WCSB, and the list goes on.
White whale?
Like I said up there, I really want a good stroopwafel. I know it has been done by others but I want to make my own, with the stuff I have now. I dropped chasing it recently, but I will probably pick it up again.
How would you describe your mixing style?
I mostly wing it. I theory-craft a lot of stuff and sometimes I just mix one of 'em. If it is only a little promising, I'll change something or multiple things, and make a V2. And then rinse and repeat, ad inifinitum, until I get bored with it and drop it, to try a different thing. I wouldn't really recommend doing it this way, but I just really don´t like to SFT stuff.
So kids, single flavour test your stuff, get to know your flavours and don't be like T-a-r-a-x. Really.
Advice for new mixers?
Read the sidebar, join the discord server. Ask questions. Mix, test, experiment, ask again, do what you want (but take heed of safety list and such). Mix, try stuff by other people, modify stuff, try again, ask again. But most of all, have fun and enjoy!
How would you describe your recipe creation process?
How many stroopwafels could a stroopwafel wafel if a stroopwafel could wafel stroops?
Well, like I said, I theory-craft a lot. I think of flavour combinations used in real life food. Or I just try and replicate something in e-juice form. But I just try stuff and sometimes it works. Mostly it doesn't and that is fine, too.
About those stroopwafels: godverdomme, I don't know!
My end goal is zero nic/quitting vaping entirely but as I drop nic slowly, I just vape all the time now. How often did you vape when you went cold turkey, and what changed to lead you to vaping less?
I vaped quite a lot at first, as I had to battle the cravings. I didn't need the nic, even back then, but the act of putting something in my mouth and blowing "smoke" helped a lot. In those two years it dwindled down to this: I vape every few days, sometimes I don't vape for a week. Sad, but at the same time not sad since I kicked the habit for good, it seems. No danger of going back to the stinkies anymore.
I'm so proud of your progress! It's wonderful to have people like you around to show others that tapering/ 0mg/ infrequent use/ maybe even eventual cessation is a completely achievable goal.
What flavors would you consider your must-haves? Also, if you could only make three recipes until the end of time, which would they be?
Must-haves for me are everything for Custard Now and Rhino Cream, CAP Sugar Cookie, FA Meringue, FA Custard Premium, FLV Cured, FLV Yakima Hops. There are more, of course, but these came to mind first.
Three recipes? Damn. I would probably choose Custard Now (surprise), Rhino Cream (again, surprise) and Kawayan. But if no one was looking, I would also sneak in Cabin and something with FLV Cured (ssshhh).
Will you ever order flavors again? If so, which would be on your list to get?
You're one of the only lemon mutes I've heard of, my sincere apologies (speaking as a SB-mute, I understand the struggle). Can you taste orange or lime or other citrus?
I know right. I also haven't met a lemon mute, to this day. It sucks, but it is what it is.
And yes! Luckily I can taste oranges and such. It's only the lemons I can't taste.
double commenting bc I can! Do you have any favorite flavor combinations (vague tastes or specific flavors are fine)? + why didn't you like LB VIC?
Let me start with the last question, because that one is easier: LB VIC is malty to me, and I don't know why. It should be a very good vanilla ice cream but to me it isn't, really.
Favourite flavour combinations. Hm. That is a hard one. I don't think I have a favourite combination. If it works, it works. The weirdest stuff can work together in mysterious ways, look at WCSB, for example. Looking at that recipe, that shouldn't work! But it does, and it is good! And the cooling in there works, although I normally don't like cooling agents that much.
thanks Tarax! I get pepper from LB VIC, so I understand not being in the fan club.
Sounds like I gotta try WCSB then! I feel the same about coolant.
If you could have a flavor profile nailed down 100% what would it be?
That must be stroopwafel!
>A stroopwafel (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈstroːpˌʋaːfəl] (listen); literally "syrup waffle") is a waffle cookie made from two thin layers of baked dough joined by a caramel filling. First made in the Dutch city of Gouda, stroopwafels are popular throughout the Netherlands and the former Dutch Empire and are a well-known Dutch dish.

If a recipe was a dusty old book, lost to time, under a shelf at the very darkest corners of the library: Which flavors would it include?
Hm, tough one. I think it would at least include FM Pistachio, combined with FLV Milk&Honey. Maybe with some SA Vanilla Custard Nougatine.
Seriously though, how would you make a recipe for a disgusting old dusty book?
I'd obviously find an old book, steep it in PG overnight, heat it up in a hot water bath, filter it through a coffee filter and then let it breathe for a few hours. Then I'd have my very own INW Dusty Old Book to mix with
Cmon, noobs.

Ok just saying, stroopwafels are the shiiiiiiiit. There’s a bakery near me that makes an all butter SW that you can’t get in stores. I order them by the case. (One thing to avoid while gyms are closed. Again. FFS)
Nice! I (very occasionally) buy a big freshly baked one on our market in the city center. Those are amazing, too.
