Need some advice on making some Blue Raspberry juice
submitted over 3 years ago by blastcoinmining

It's like no matter what I do or how I tweak my Blue Raspberry recipes I never seem to get them right. They either come out muted or with very little flavor. I only have 2 blue raspberry concentrates so maybe I need to open up and get some more from different companies but I got Blue Raz (Flavorah) and Blue Raspberry (FW).

Before I layout my recipes for you I want to see some recipes from you guys so I can compare them first. Like I said no matter how much I tweak the percentages the Blue Razz always seems to come out weak or muted. Maybe I'm missing a booster ingredient?

Thanks so much guys 🙂

LB blue raspberry is the answer to your questions

Yup. 6 -8% LB Blue Raspberry with LB or FW sweetener to taste.. 1-2%. This is all that goes into my Blue Razz. And if you swap the ratios with the LB sweetener you'll get more of a blue cotton candy than a blue razz.

By far the best blue razz in my opinion

Are you adding any sweetener? I find no matter what it is I need sweetener of some kind to make it not muted. .5 super sweet or FW sweetener depending on the recipe.

I don't have either of those flavorings (only LB Blue Raspberry) but Blue is not the most nuanced profile so my guess is a workable substitution would only involve dialing the % up or down, at most. For a short while I was in a sweet & sour candy phase and settled on this:

4 lb blue raspberry

2 flv sour apple

2 wf pixie stick

1 flv candy roll

1 tfa rainbow drops

0.5 cap sweet mango

Nothing groundbreaking, but it scratches that itch for me. To be honest, though, it might be a little redundant - there are plenty of ingredients in the above recipe that will make it "zing", if that's what you're looking for. I haven't experimented enough to say for sure but it's feasible that some of these flavors are canceling each other out.

You could start with:

4 lb blue raspberry +

3 wf pixie stick OR 2 vt fizzy sherbet (these two are close cousins)

2 flv sour apple

And have a reasonable blue raspberry vape right off the shake imo. The main thing is I don't think you can rely on a Blue Raspberry concentrate to get you to what you think of as Blue Raspberry.

I actually have the Flavorah Blue Raspberry on the way, but haven't tried it yet. You may want to check out Liquid Barn blue raspberry.

  • 0.5-1% TFA sweet raspberry
  • 2-3% FW blue raspberry
  • 6-7% LB blue raspberry

I put the ≈% range I use as I change it up sometimes. I've actually recently been adding ≈1% TFA Juicy Peach DX

  • 1.20g TFA juicy peach dx
  • 1.00g TFA sweet raspberry
  • 4.50g FW blue raspberry
  • 6.50g LB blue raspberry
  • Fill to 120ml

OSDIY blue raspberry was also good. I don't know if it is still around. I only jut got the FLV one in and yet to test it.

Some sweetener would definitely help this profile out, especially if you're newer to DIY (like NuttyNana suggested). Also as always, check your build/ wicking as well.

LB Blue Raspberry + OSDIY Blue Raspberry Slush are both great BRs, as is the FLV. I have 0 knowledge of FW BR. Sometimes a little tiny addition of lemon, peach, raspberry or other fruit can help Blue Raz flavors pop + fill in some missing notes too.

Nah I've been making juice for almost 2 years now lol I've just always had trouble mixing up a blue razz profile. I think I'm going to try adding a tiny bit of some boysenberry (TPA) to my next blue razz mix along with some Raspberry (FW) to see if they boost the profile a bit. I also think im going to buy some LB Blue Raspberry since I see a lot of mixes using it. I love my juices sweet so I always add sweetner to my mixes using Super Sweet (CAP) for fruit mixes and FW Sweetner for striaght up bakery mixes.

I think I am going to up the sweetness level a bit and add a tiny bit (like 0.5%) of some Malic Acid in the form of Sour (TPA) or maybe even some Lemon Sicily (FA). I've noticed mixing through out the years that they boost flavor profiles a bit. I added some malic acid to a couple candy mixes one time and the flavor was like night and day.

Lately I've just been trying to keep my mixes simple like 1,2,3 or 1,2,3,4 recipes. I've actually had better luck using less ingredients because I'm guessing they all aren't fighting with each other. I used to go crazy back a year ago using up to 10 ingredients or more in one recipe. I now know through experience that I was just wasting ingredients so I've been keeping it more simple. Only difference with me is that I gotta use higher percentages of ingredients in my mixes. I really just think its just me though cause everyone's biology is different lol

Here's one example of a simple but delicious recipe I just came up with. Using Cinnamon Danish Swirl (CAP) 4%, Sugar Cookie v1 (CAP) 6%, Dairy Milk (TPA) 3%, Meringue (FA) 2% and Sweetner (FW) 1% and I made myself a Cinnamon Sugar Cookie dunked in milk that is more on the chewy cookie side due to the Cinnamon Danish Swirl. I kept the ingredients simple and it works so much better than all of my more complex recipes. I've done 1,2,3,4 fruit only mixes that came out pretty good too and ill add like 1 to 2% of some CAP or TPA Marshmallow to give it some mouthfeel.

Some of my favorites are tropical fruit mixes and I dunno what it is but I just love pineapple flavored juice so I make a lot of mixes with it. I got some of the best pineapple concentrates too like VTA Sugarloaf Pineapple, FA Costa Rica Pineapple and CAP Golden Pineapple, all big 120ml bottles lol. I also love mixes with coconut too 🙂 man they are so dang good. I like using funky tropical flavors like Quince, Jackfruit, etc.

Yeah I would say tropical is my thang but next to that I just love Strawberry mixes and Blueberry mixes and I've found a way to make them both without the flavors getting all muted in the mix. One of my favorites is this Strawberry milkshake recipe I made up.

Strawberry (FW) 5% - Strawberry Red Touch (FA) 2% - Milkshake Base (VTA) 1% - Vanilla Ice Cream (VTA) 2% - Super Sweet (CAP) 0.7%

Again it's a 1,2,3,4 and it came out better than a lot of my 8 ingredient mixes. I also like using FW Strawberry a lot because it doesn't tend to get muted out of a recipe, especially when it's boosted with Red Touch Strawberry

Ok man enough of my rambling lol I just get excited talking about making juice 🙂 LOL

Flv needs a top nore its very basey, deep and surupy, try adding a bright raspberry to it. Something like fw razzleberry or tpa raspberry.

Yeah was thinking of adding FW Raspberry because I personally think it's a pretty good Raspberry. I got Raspberry (FA) too but it has a lot of skin flavor in it so I use it sparingly. I also got Raspberry (PUR) and its good but its weak so I gotta use 5% or more. I just put a couple recipes together using FW Raspberry, Blue Raz (Flavorah), Blue Raspberry (FW) and a few other ingredients so I'm just gonna let them get a long steep before I try them (like 3 weeks or longer). I notice the longer I let any recipe steep the more the flavors stick instead of getting muted

Use razzleberry
