Beginner here, at what percentage should I mix these flavours (solo but also combined, 2 or 3 with each other)? I only use 50/50 base and 10-12 mg freebase nicotine, mixing only in 10ml bottles (if that matters).
The flavors: Cap Blueberry Jam (doesn't say which version)
1.Cap Vanilla Custard
2.Cap Sugar Cookie
3.Cap NewYork Cheesecake
4.Cap Sweet Mango
5.Cap Energy Drink
6.Cap Sweet Strawberry
7.Tfa RY4 double
8.Tfa Banana Split
9.Tfa Sweet Cream
10.FA Forest Fruits
Thanks! I have in mind at least 10 combinations to mix after I try most of them solo, in order to get to know the profile of each other and with what would they work best , but I am scared of not making big mistakes when it comes to the quantity of the flavors.
As far as where to start for single testing/solo I’d start here by searching the flavour and looking at the average mixing percentage. You can even click on the flavour and see the little graph that usually shows what ppl are solo mixing at.
As far as percentage in mixes there isn’t really a straightforward answer to your question since it varies so much depending on the combos. For example if you wanted a strawberry banana custard using your flavours. You might go with a simple 3-2-1 where your strawberry may be 3%, banana split 2% and vanilla custard 1%. But you could switch the strawberry and banana around for a more banana forward mix.
When working with new flavours I find it helpful to use the search tool I provided above and look at how others are using them in recipes. I found reading well done development notes to be particularly helpful when I was learning especially if they talked about why they chose to use a concentrate, what they do for the mix and reasoning for percentages.
Ultimately when crafting a recipe, you need to decide what your heart note (main/higher percentage usually) will be and what your supporting or background notes (lower percentage) will be. A little bit of theory crafting in advance of mixing if you will. Then you can take a look at what percentages will accomplish that. Some people like to just sit down and wing it. And that’s totally ok too. But I’m a planner and a thinker and that’s how I roll. :)
I should note that when I say higher and lower percentage I don’t necessarily mean higher than the rest in the mix since some concentrates are more potent than others. I mean higher or lower relative to that concentrate specifically. If I was mixing a cinnamon caramel cream for example with cinnamon as the main note and wanted to use flv rich cinnamon (insanely potent), it would be extremely low where the caramel and cream would be higher. However I’d be using flv cinnamon at a higher amount than a recipe that was using it for a backnote.
I know that’s not a direct answer but I hope that helps point you in the right direction?
Any brick n mortar shops that sell flavors? I saw some at a health food shop but it was like 20 bucks
You’ll find a lot of OIL based flavorings at health food stores etc. I’d avoid them, much much more options online. Also if you’re just trying to pick up a few to try out first you can get most capella flavorings and tfa flavorings on Amazon in small 10ml bottles
Cheers that's good to know, I made sure the flavors I was looking at were waterbased and dye free, the one i found was actually vg based
Follow up question what can I use to make my mix sour? I heard citric acid is not good to put in juice
I found some nic I forgot I had. Stored in a glass bottle, it spent about six months in a freezer and has spent the last year at room temperature. It's now dark brown in color. It's 100mg VG.
Can I still use it? Or has it gone bad?
Nicotine should not be dark brown. That's a sure sign of oxidization. But still try it and find out.
Simple newbie question. If I have a bottle of 12mg nicotine can I just do a 50/50 mixture with a doubler and it will be a 6mg dose? What will the flavour be like?
Yes, use a calculator like vapersgarage DOT com/calculators-2/
Who knows what the flavor will be like. I would do a 5ml doubler for a total of 10ml and taste it
What is the best beginner kit for dessert and fruit flavors ?
Don’t buy kits. They come with stuff you don’t need. Best bet is to go on a mixing site like all the flavors and pick a few recipes that look good to you and buy the flavours you need for those plus PG, VG, nic, sweetener, a scale and bottles and you’re good to go.
Okay cool thanks yeah that’s what I meant just any way to actually get it. What site is the best or do you use ?
Personally I use chefs UK for flavours and dash vape for bases and nic. I’m in canada and that’s the best price for us. If you’re in the US I’d suggest bull city or diy vapor supply. They seem to have the best selection and good prices. For nic you’ll have to look elsewhere tho. Check the nic vendors list in the sidebar. Bull city is great. I used to use them before they started raping us with shipping fees. Diy vapor supply I’ve not used as they don’t ship here for some stupid reason lol. I wish they did tho cuz they have stuff even bull city doesn’t have.
