Started DIYing for my wife a few weeks ago since she has wanted to go 0 nic and it's hard to find in a flavor she likes.
The problem is she gets maybe 40ml into a coil and it starts to taste like it has a hot spot or dry hit. Everything tastes great up until that point though. I have pulled mesh/cotton and looked at them and they look fine and cotton is clean.

Smallish juice holes on that coil, I don't know the kit but you could try with thinner juice, say 60/40 or 50/50 just to eliminate the 'too thick juice' possibility, even just experiment by adding a bit of PG to the mix, should be easy to use a juice calculator to see how much to bring say 5ml of juice 70/30 down to 50/50 say, it'll dilute the flavour a bit in that tank but a good experiment to do, from a quick look adding ~1g of PG should be about right in 5ml of juice, half a gram should be good enough to see what the difference is.
I'll try that. She has about 15ml left in a 30ml bottle from a flavor test batch. I'll try adding some PG to it to thin it out.
I went with 70/30 because we both vape Juice Head which is 70/30 for years on the coils without a problem. I'd completely believe if the percentages were wrong on the bottle label though.
Yep, it's worth a try even if just to eliminate that from your enquiries, can't say I notice much difference between mixing 70/30 and 60/40 for personal use. I've been making some at 50/50 even as I sometimes give juice to a mate who has a pod which appreciates it runnier and I vape that too, it's fine, I'm not bothered about making clouds.
My guess is all of the pineapple. And the other sharp citrus notes. Every time I use these they start to taste burnt when I chain vape. Try using a smaller % or maybe lower watts with that particular juice.
Hi. I don’t think it’s the VG/PG ratio. I have a Falcon King for when I‘m feeling lazy and I use 80/20 without problems. I usually get 2-3 weeks out of a coil. I don’t chain vape or use much sweetener (0.25% CAP SS, but mostly none).
I‘m also thinking it may be from the flavors.
Former vape shop manager here, and there are 2 things that I don't see people talk about; 1 - The level of throat hit affects how long you take a hit 2 - How long you hit your vape directly affects your coil burning prematurely (high levels of sweetener aside)
Because of the 0 mg nic, you're going to want to find flavor concentrates that have a decent amount of throat hit (some are very strong with just a drop, and some have no throat hit at all no matter how much you add)
What I did when I first started mixing at home was pick 5-7 recipes from alltheflavors and/or ejuicerecipes that had good reviews, bought the concentrates and just tried them out. When you go to make your 2nd bottle of a recipe, try tweaking the amount of ONE concentrate (don't go crazy with the changes or you won't know how they affect the mix) and just boosting or lowering a concentrate with each new bottle. You'll find the flavors with strong throat hit pretty quickly.
To summarize; do your testing/tweaking to find the concentrates with stronger throat hit, use more of those in your mixes and try to fine-tune the juice to where you don't have to take extremely long rips off your vape, and presto: coil lasts as long as it should normally :)
That is where I'm kind of lost. She loves the throat hit and freeze of the recipe I tweaked from alltheflavors. After about 8 tanks it just tastes really harsh like the coil has a hot spot after about 1 second into a hit. I have pulled 2 of the coils and pulled the mesh and cotton out and they look perfectly fine.
I can put her tank on my mod, run escribe, and see how long she takes a hit. I'm normally about 2.3 seconds and she is definitely shorter to me. I'd imagine in the 1.5 second range for a normal hit.
If u DIY u should be able to drop a mesh sheet in or coil n wick it (Use an Rta) just to eliminate if its the sub ohm or not..i personally don't see the point in vaping no nic but everyone vapes for Diff reasons n maybe mentally it helps her in some way but can't imagine the 0 nic has anything to do with it..What do u use? Why not make 0 mg and let her use your setup just to see or do you vape? I make my gf mint menthol Fa spearmint 6% F w menthol 2.5% Cap super sweet 1% Tfa dx sweet cream .5% and she won't vape anything but...tbo she vapes to not smoke with 15mg salt nic in a Novo 2 Lil pod system n the 1.0 mesh pods last her 3 weeks each for last 2 yrs 👍 pods are cheap as is the device
I have a mesh RTA I can try for her. We both quit smoking by vaping and she decided to move from 3mg to 0mg. I still do 3mg and haven't switched to diy for myself yet because I still have bottles of store bought to go through.
She is unfortunately picky about juice. In 2 years she has found 3 juices she's can consistently vape. Her favorite is Juice Head Grapefruit Pineapple Freeze. I am trying to create something close to that because finding that juice in 0mg is extremely hard.
Oh um right with you..my gf only will vape the mint menthol recipients I made and only with her novo 2 and we bought her a Freemax twister cylinder mod that came with a fireluke2 sub ohm with 5 boxes of coils n after those are gone I have Zues X mesh that matches the mod just a nicely but its still in the box-all of it! I guess u don't miss what u never tried lol. I think you should get her a Zues or Kylin m mesh Rta as I know it will last 2 weeks before changing wick or mesh sheet for her.As long as u make the flavor she likes it should taste just as good in the Rta.Its gotta be better than changing out a sub ohm coil every 2 days 👍 what tank is it? Or is a mtl type vape? I forgot what u said she's using
