Consequences of adding nic later
submitted almost 4 years ago by [deleted]

I've run out of nic for now, it'll be a week or two before I can get some more in so I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on the likely effect, if any, of making a mix and adding the nic a week or two after it starts steeping.

I mean in terms of any effect it might have on the eventual flavour when complete, or the steeping process. I can easily note how much should have gone in so I can add the right amount later.

It makes zero difference. Some people even prefer it because it means the nic is likely fresher and less prone to oxidization

Hi. You can add it later just like any other additive (coolant, sweetener). Nicotine, coolant and sweetener are not vital to the steeping process. Happy holidays.

When you buy a short fill in a shop, and they give you the nic to add - same difference?

It’s fine to do that. My B&Ms do it with their house juice (illegally). Some customers vape 3mg freebase and some 30mg salts. Nicotine isn’t a flavor so it doesn’t need to steep. It needs another good shake though before vaping

Great, thanks all :)

I like the point about the nic being fresher. With a long steep in a warm climate, having it a fridge for those weeks/months, or having it not even being manufactured yet is a bonus.

As suggested, I think I'll adopt this as my normal practice, perhaps a little removable sticker on the bottle as a reminder and have the best of both worlds, a good steep and fresh nic.

Unfortunately, I live in Australia and Vape shops aren’t allowed to sell juice with nicotine in it so you have no choice but to add nic at a much later date than when the juice was made. I usually try the juice straight without nic first and then after I mix it up and flavor-wise I don’t notice a difference.

Thanks, yep, that's my standard practice now, when I get some nic anyway ! :)
