I need a little bit of help. I'm trying to get into DIY. On the Heartland site I noticed that the Nic was VG, PG, and 50/50 I'm just making sure that this isn't a pre-mix.... At least the 50/50 option.
What is the difference between VG and PG nic?
Thank You.

It’s not a premix unless it says like 3mg or 6 mg etc. If you’re in the US you should be able to get 100 mg nic which is preferable. The nic you’ll be buying isn’t pure nic so it needs a base to carry it. Ergo, PG, VG or 50/50 with 100 mg per ml for example.

Most of us (unless we’re trying to avoid PG entirely) prefer to use PG nic. Reason being it’s thinner and mixes better. Once you get VG in there, you really have to shake the hell out of it to make sure the nic in there is mixed thoroughly.

Only reason I’d use 50/50 is if you’re vaping insanely high levels of nicotine. (Or if you live in a country with a nic cap like I do. Ugh. We can only get 20 mg per ml) What mg are you typically vaping?

I use 6mg. So I bought 100mg PG. Does this mean that I don't have to use regular PG in the mix? Just verifying

You’ll probably still need PG. unless you want a high VG finished product. use the mixing calculator on all the flavors. Enter your values and it’ll tell you how much of everything you need.

Testing question, new to mixing but I know not to mix in a pod. My specific question, what's the lowest amount I can put in a pod for testing my recipes without burning out the pod?

You should put enough to fully cover your coil. You can always dump it out no? Or remove it with a syringe if it won’t dump out. If you want after you can put plain VG (or just plain unflavoured base; like vg/pg/nic) in which will help flush the taste out of your coil.

That's what I needed to know. Thanks.

Hey y’all - where are we sourcing diluents nowadays? Just ran out of VG thinking I had another 500ml bottle, and it looks like nic River only sells it by drum, and BCF is out of stock

AS far as PG my last gallon of PG came from Tractor supply , back in the summer they had a sale on it. yes it may say animal use, but it is USP - USP grade is higher purity than food-grade quality 32.99 tastes fine.

VG I bought Palm Based VG gallon on amazon ( Glycerin Supplier Brand ) for 36

I haven't bought from them yet but next order will be from Duda diesel. They have a lot of good reviews and pricing for larger amounts seems better than other places.

Bought a shake and vape juice that says it needs to be diluted, what does it exactly mean?

I assume it's a one shot concentrate. That means it's just flavoring. So it needs to be diluted into nicotine base and VG/PG

I've got some WS-23 powder and wanted to make a 30% dillution in PG, which is what i'm used to working with but i'm torn between mixing 21g PG + 9g Power or do i mix 30g PG + 10g Powder?

I know it isn't something that complicated but i rather make sure i'm not screwing up lol

Thank you!

  • to be more exact with your dosing, you could find out the specific gravity (SG) of the powder & pg.

  • then multiply the parts of your goal juice by their percentage, like you already did: 3070% = PG | 3030% = WS-23

  • and following that, multiply the results by their SG: PG1, 305 WS-230, 69420

but keep in mind I haven't googled the right gravities, so you have to do that on your own.

I use this way of mixing for almost anything and have made a spreadsheet with the flavours I use that automatically searches for their SG and takes into consideration their amount of PG/VG (if there's the data) to account for mixing my base.

Yes, this is kind of nerdy and technically speaking just some math, google sheets, and highly nitpicky, but I like it :D

Hope this helps!

It's going to be pretty mathy when you're mixing from powder.
