I'm looking at buying flavoring. People seem to not like one shots for some reason but nobody ever says why.
One shots limit you to one profile. Having all the base flavors to make a recipe gives you more flexibility and opportunities to customize and create. That said, there’s nothing wrong with them. They can be quite convenient. You can even make your own one shots.
I'm just having trouble finding a recipe that sounds good to me. I dont like foods at all and I dont like grape or cherry. I did find one that sounds good.
FLV BlackBerry 1% FA kiwi 2% CAP sweet guava 3% .3% SS And it says "the usual amount of ws23"
Can I trust the recipes on ATF or can anyone post whatever on there?
At the end of the day, your going to have to just try things and experiment. Reviews are just opinions and everyone has a different view. You may find some flavors are exactly like they are reviewed and others may seem overhyped to your personal taste. When starting out, buy small 10ml bottles of flavorings so you can test them before committing to a bigger bottle. I have many flavors that I'm glad I only wasted a few bucks on and plenty that I went back and purchased 4oz bottles of.
Imho atf has "better" recipes than elr... better isnt the right word, anyone can post a recipe on elr or atf, but i think more experienced mixers use atf, atf has more of a decent liquid percentage than elr for me... i still dont like most of the recipes i try on atf or elr, but i like more recipes on atf than elr. But again i am super super picky.
I recommend one shots to new mixers. Mixing isn't that difficult, but I understand that some people find it intimidating to start. Using a one shot, it is simply a % of flavor, PG, VG and nicotine.
I'm not bucking the community, but it takes time to single flavor test, find good recipes, buy individual flavors, mix, test, buy more flavors and tweak.
I would also recommend you grab a 10 ml of Capella Super Sweet (CAP SS): I've had one shots that just have no sweetener in them and adding a few drops of SS makes them better.
There’s nothing wrong with them. I just think they’re a bit pricey for something I may not like.
$30 for 120ml doesn't seem bad does it?
Not bad, really. But I would rather pick 12 flavors from my “to buy list”. As someone looking to buy for the first time I can justify this kind of purchase. At say 10% average that’s like 1,200ml of juice. I could never vape 1,200ml of one recipe
I could. I'm used to buying bulk premade already so I have no issue using the same juice for a long time. The one shot I want to try is flavor jungle mint chocolate chip ice cream. I found the recipe for the same one shot and it has 7 different flavors in it. I just feel like it would be way easier to have a one shot instead of buying a bunch of different flavors that I have no idea how to use. Rose milk seems to be very popular so i might try that one too.
I'd say on one hand, oneshots are an easy way to try out some different profiles, if you're not quite sure about what you like to vape.
It's basically just commercial liquid, with an extra step to save a little on cost.
Some oneshots are made by big companies, and others by reputable mixers from within the DIY community - So they're not all equal

On the other hand mixing with single flavors allows you to tweak whatever you want, to be just how you like it. Say you take inspiration from a recipe, and then tweak it to your personal tastes - Or just build it all from the ground up.
- Granted it does take some time and effort getting to know your flavors, and your palate
There's nothing wrong with them if you just want to have some ready made stuff to vape. It's just not a very creative way to go, because you can only add stuff to the one shot, so if it has a flavor you might not like, you can't really do anything about it. If you can get the recipe of the one shot, you're better off just buying the individual flavors. Then, later, if you decide you really liked that recipe and don't feel like mixing, you'll know you can just buy the one shot if you want.
"Wrong"...no...theyre just like any other liquid. Ya just have to "make em" yourself. And like "regular" liquids, theres good, bad, meh, and everything in between. I personally will not buy em unless ive tried the liquid out b4 hand, but I am SUPER picky! I dont like about 95% of liquids i try, diy or commercial. I spent thousands on liquids i didnt care for the 1st year i was vaping, wasted $ down the drain. So if i cant try em out b4 i buy then it wont get bought, but thats just me. Most places in the usa ya cant "try b4 ya buy" anymore, so i dont buy very many new liquids anymore.
Every time I bought juice I got a different flavor so I've tried so many different things. At least 50 different flavors. I've tried lots of different food flavors and they all tasted very similar and I didnt like any of them. I always liked the simple fruits like blueberry, strawberry, kiwi, raspberry, stuff like that.
Yeah there are literally thousands of liquid manufacturers and tens of thousands of flavors. Each companies strawberry & cream or bubblegum is going to taste different, because theyre all using different flavorings in their liquid recipe. Theres hundreds of millions of flavor combinations. Theres about a thousand different flavor manufacturers, and each one has their own blueberry, strawberry, kiwi etc. Each one is going to taste different from the next. Most of these companies are just out here to make $$. They try to use inexpensive flavorings, and use as little flavoring as possible to make a recipe to maximize profits. Theres really noway to find a liquid or recipe you like except to try out the liquid. Even liquids that ALOT of people love, i usually dont care for. Ya just have to try em & find what YOU like. This is one of the main reasons i started making my own liquids years ago.
