Thank u for this! I’m new to mixing and the group. There’s a lot of great info in here that I needed to see. It’s so awesome to have resources like this available or I’d probably end up poisoning myself 😉
Where are you guys/gals buying your Nic from? I tried to place an order through Heartland Vapes but it got canceled because I’m not a vape shop.
What is a good mixed berry flavor? I get some strange off-notes from FA Forset Fruits and that seems to be everyone's go to.
What percentage are you getting the off-notes at? There are a few suggestions out there to use it absurdly high that usually mask the off notes with absurd amounts of sweetener.
Flavor Facts Berries is a good resource
Quick question. I took a break from mixing for about a year or so because life, you know. Well, with the shipping ban, it kicked my butt into mixing again.
What would cause vg to weigh several grams less than the weight a recipe calculator would give? I follow all the weights within .01-.07 range but still can end up being off by up to 10g for 60ml bottle.
Can anyone explain what I need other than nicotine when I use the flavors from BX Vapor?

You’ll need PG, VG, nic and maybe sweetener. I’m not familiar with these flavourings. Sometimes one shots have sweetener already included, sometimes not, or maybe just a little. In any case, it helps to have if you do like your juice sweet.
Oh and also a scale (that measures .001 grams up to at least 200) and of course bottles.
Hi, all - I am new to DIY, and have a couple of questions.
1 - I ordered some 100mg nic in July. It arrived, and I put it in brown glass bottles and into my freezer. I noticed that it smells…pungent. Like moldy dirt with a tinge of black pepper. It is clear as water, but the smell is quite noticeable. From what I’ve read here and on other forums, my understanding is that it’s probably not the best quality, but still safe to use. Is this correct?
2 - I used it to make a small test batch of juice on Monday. I used RY4 and vanilla flavorings (about 10% flavoring total). I did a quick shake and vape, and HOOO BOY, it tasted much like the nic base smelled (juice was mixed to 12mg strength). I have left it alone in a dark room since then, giving it a good shake once or twice each day. The juice is now pink, but the peppery dirt flavor has subsided a bit. I will give it a few more days to see if the flavorings get stronger. I have read about juice turning yellow or brown (depending on flavorings used), but I haven’t seen a lot of folks saying their juice turned pink. Should I be concerned about it?
Sorry if these are silly questions…I guess if I’m honest I may just need a little “There, there dear - it’s gonna be okay” (unless, of course, vaping this stuff is potentially unsafe).
Thanks in advance, and Happy Thanksgiving!
Where'd you order your nic from? It sounds like you got a bad batch from River Supply. But bad nic happens at every vendor eventually. It shouldn't be unsafe, based on your description. It's likely that if it started out that unpleasant it will only get worse over time, including the time it spends in whatever bottle you make. I'd consider dropping your nic level to mitigate that as much as possible, short of that covering up the taste with flavors might not be sufficient.
I bought it from Nicotine Giant. I had planned to order from Nude Nicotine, but they were unable to ship to my state (no bans in my state that I’m aware of, can’t figure that one out).
Thanks for the reply. I wanted to quit vaping eventually and had planned to gradually lower my nic until I got to 0. I guess craptastic nic is one way to do it lol.
Heyo! Quick question from a new mixer.
Just mixed up a couple flavors with 3mg nic, and tried them. Both are almost totally unvapable due to the insanely strong throat hit. I legit feel like my throat's about to close up on me and I'll have an asthmatic attack lol
I'm wondering if maybe it'd help to steep them for a week or two? I tried both of the flavors without nic, and they're pretty smooth. The nic I'm using is from VapeMall, and it in at my normal strength. So could I have gotten bad nic? Or should I just try breathing and steeping them some and see if they mellow out?
Try making a small (like 5-10 ml) of just VG/PG and nic. No flavouring. See if you still have the issue.
I vaped a bit of both with just the VG/PG and flavor, and they seemed good.

You would use about 7.7g of your 100mg nicotine base.
ELR is very good if you need help crafting the recipes and ensuring your weights are correct. Much easier to play it safe once than be sorry twice.
