Morning, mixers?
I hope your week gets off to a great start. Mine usually starts off with the FotW thread, but this past week began with controversy! The smarmy and hyperbolically titled Unpopular opinion: this sub places unnecessary boundaries on mixing was a lovely rallying cry to discuss the finer points of mixing using excessive amounts of flavor. Nothing like an outside enemy to unite the masses!
DIY_eJuice Throwback Post Highlight
However unpopular the ideas contained within that post, there remains the amazing DIY axiom: If you are happy with your mix, vape away and keep on not smoking!!! But, let's be real, people, this isn't the first time we have had unpopular opinions gettin our panties all in a bunch. I still remember when someone first posted Camp Tigerclaw before u/Concrete_River released it and everyone was all "That's too much Green Apple Hard Candy!" Yup, a few days later, we had the mystery solved and now it's a classic. But yeah, we can't all be Concrete, can we? Wait, can't we? A better question might be, are you daring enough to try Jackass mixing? Confident enough to mix at the beat of your own drummer? I hope so, and it's great to acknowledge that what works for you may not work for others, or even most people. In that spirit, we bring you to four years ago when there were some Unpopular Opinions and the double dog dare recipe by Concrete, Unpopular Opinions. Special thanks to u/anawfulwizard for reminding me of this one.
I look forward to your unpopular opinions (assuming you can write them without denigrating others' preferences) as to what diy mixing guidelines you enjoy straying away from in the comments section below :) and now...
Last Week's Highlights
This was a thin and wan week. Emaciated. Jaundiced. A harrowing tale of woe. People, I beg of you. Please share your flavor reviews/notes/impressions/ideas, recipes, pairings, recipe reviews, something/anything... and put your beginner questions in the New Mixer's Thread, the mythical land of No Question Is Stupid. Anything outside of there is free game; You've been forewarned.
- u/EdibleMalfunction kindly responded to the users who queried in the extremely underutilized New Mixer's Thread. I get that people want eyes on their questions and we all want answers NOW, but c'mon people. Like apple, there's a thread for that.
- u/ID10-T showed great restraint and understatement in this week's pun for the FotW Thread. Catch Noted live Monday at 10pm EST and chat it up with the community. Or just shamelessly comment on the post with your own sub-par puns, like the free flavor whores y'all are, to enter into the incredibly generous giveaway from the kingmaker hisself's pocket.
- u/isuamadog started the Hype Train early this year for Recipe of the Year with the top rated recipes of the Monthly Recipe Threads in this hyperbolically titled, BEST post. Whatta clown, amirite?
- u/Steve-TC blamed said clown for his newfound love of tobaccos in this review of SC/FE French Pipe. I dunno, sounds tasty to me... might run out and get some, myself. I look forward to reading anyone other than that pompous ass' reviews next Flavor Review Friday. Show us yours and we'll show you ours!
- u/c5b4c91772c729fc7d0a showed up to work to provide us a place to casually share what we are vaping? Probably the only question all week that didn't make me die a little inside. Which leads us to...
Last Week's Frequently Asked Questions
could all have been answered with the FAQ put together by u/Apexified and searched with this handy search found in the sidebar (what's a sidebar?!?). Basically all of these posts break Rule 1 or 2 or both of our sub and probably should have been deleted; they definitely should have been posted in the New Mixer's Thread. Edible is just waiting there to answer all your n00b questions just like he did mine 4 years ago. Thank you, Ed, you're the breast.
- Nic storage? Try a search for "nic storage"? First hit from 9 months ago still applies.
- Harsh Juice? Try a search? First hit from 5 years ago still applies.
- Peach Ring recipe suggestions? Try a search here for "peach ring"? I found 4, one with 4 ratings, even.
- Strawberry Cannoli recipe suggestions? Yup, you guessed it! Try a search here for "cannoli" to get: "11556 DIY E-LIQUID RECIPES FOUND"? Sort by rating or narrow your search to "strawberry cannoli" to get two recipes.
- Gremberry's mixing %? Try a search for "Gremberry percents"? First hit from a year ago comments suggest 10-15%. Or do like Apex does in the comments and check the average % at ELR or use "GRM" to search at ATF.
- Am I not adding enough sweetener? Please link or post the recipe you are using if you want advice?
- Have i been given fake flavors? Please LINK OR POST THE GODDAMN RECIPE?
- Am I going to feel the throathit this time... ? Try a Goddamned search for "throat hit"?!? First hit from 4 years ago had enough good ideas to make me want to read the next few or just, idk try one of them? 4th hit from two years ago was basically the same advice. Our now-sung hero u/Mother_Punker linked one that wasn't in the search, so thanks again M(v)P.
- First try at a DIY juice - have I messed something up?. ~~Probably.~~ ~~Most likely.~~ Definitely? Understanding this one is above my paygrade.
- All aroma's the same weird smell? Just friggin shoot me if you refuse to post the recipe, please? Old Yeller my ass out back behind the barn.
Discord
If you click this link: Discord, it will take you to our Discord where you can find many of us (and more) who are willing to answer your questions in real time. Sometimes even with our own questions like: What do you like to vape? and What recipe are you using? For all the posters who hit and run our sub, it may not be for you. For those few who try to search and don't find many answers (or too many) the discord is great because people will take the time to explain it to you and u/TeslaDelMar has made some really neat features that make it super fun to use and get information. Check it out.
Since we only have questions here... Until next week? -i
PS A speshul thank you to anyone who answered a question, no matter where it was posted. I'll put in a good word with Santy Claus for you.
