Hey y'all,

Coming in on a Monday, which tells you there may be something in the works for tomorrow...

DIY_eJuice Feature: The Weekly Suggest a Recipe Thread

Here it is: Last week's thread.

We get a variety of posters in that thread. You get your people who buy the absolute minimum number of flavors who want to just make something vapable and the folks who have a fair handful of flavors and are looking for some guidance on how to put some flavors together into, yes, something vapable. That or just looking for new ideas. Either way, it doesn't get a whole lot of responses for a few reasons. Firstly, it is a particular challenge to work with a limited number of flavors (especially not knowing them and ~~maybe~~ ~~definitely~~ usually not the best for the job) to suggest something for someone else to try without a healthy amount of confidence and experience. I'd go into a secondly, but why, when u/ID10-T said it best ages ago in How Paying it Forward Can Pay Off in Mixing.

In fact, that is an essential read in my humble opinion. Hell I even challenge you to seach for "suggest a recipe" and see how many sad posters got no response. I personally try to respond whenever there's a bacco, cookie or fruit option because that's what I am most familiar with. Sometimes I even think to myself I should learn how to use other flavors just to be able to help in that thread because you can get "flavor-smarter" as ID10-T said. Look up some stuff, stay curious. Mixing for another person's tastes combined with a flavor stash haiku can really test your skills and potentially help a newcomer find their footing.

Here's some zero response stashes:

  1. custard/cream/milk guy week 1 / custard/cream/milk guy week 2
  2. This big ole stash Where are all you custard/fruit lovers at?
  3. Life after Kawayan guy

Do it or we are going to end up with this.

Last Week's Highlights

  • My week always begins with the FotW Thread where u/ID10-T gives away flavors for the randomest comments ever. This week we had a mysterious benefactor dippindabbin (shhhh it's u/Craigasaurous) donating 5 30mL bottles of OOO flavors to the cause of sharing the joy. I may be the dog, but you da man!
  • Nic questions galore. Which makes sense I guess, considering what we do here. Nic salts from Heartland nic any good? Do they ship? I guess n = 1 settles it!
  • We got a cloud bro on a pod. smh you can't make this stuff up, people.
  • And how to tell if you got cheap nic. Pro-tip: If it's harsh and tastes like mushrooms or pepper, it's bad. Cheap isn't a bad thing.
  • Q: CAP Cereal 27 sub suggestions? A: crickets. ok, fine it wasn't that bad, but it may as well have been. Spoiler alert: CAP 27 can be used in the place of AP so basically anything with AP should be able to do it. Saved you 2 minutes of reading. You're welcome.
  • Trouble shooting a Nasty Juice One Shot doesn't inspire confidence in the one shot options. Make sure to search for well regarded one shots as a new mixer the same way we suggest not buying flavors based on name or brand.
  • u/c5b4c91772c729fc7d0a reminded us all they're not a bot despite the bot-like handle, and posted the (mostly) weekly What are you Vaping? Thread. Check out the comments and see if something calls out to you.
  • If you haven't heard the news, u/DeviousDucky let us know that BCF Now Carries FA Cust Premium!!! Just in time to run out of stock by Black Friday sales; Let's hope they've they've got a helluva stash, amirite? Adios tobaccos, Hello DAAP!
  • Speaking of DAAP, what's your favorite Custard Base? Check out the classic Custard Now base by u/EdibleMalfunction in the comments.
  • A finer discussion on selling off your flavor stash. Paying it forward seems to be the best way for them to find a happy home... opinions anyone?
  • u/romngenie broke the monotony with a review of SA Berry Passion and even included a recipe which I'd like to try except I'm missing exactly one flavor... one guess which?

Anyway, that's a lot to digest. There's other stuff. You missed it. Go read it and answer a question, because that's likely what it was. Lotsa questions. Which is great, I think?

Read this every week! That's for the work. I know appreciation is in short supply, but I truly appreciate this.

It's been awhile since I made him do stuff, let's see if it still works. Go do stuff, Dave. :)

I'd advise anyone who starts into DIY to focus in max 3 flavors, like "fruits" or "custard" and then to try to emphasize. Flavors - alone for one family - can rapidly cost hundreds of dollars. Even if you follow the channels, watch the videos, etc etc, in the end, you will have 10 different sweeteners, 10 different custards, 10 strawberries, 10 peaches, 10 creams, etc. The problem is that there is no limit, as well as there are 5.000.000.000 different tastes ;-)

Therefore, I'd never tell sb. that DIY is cheaper - it is but to get there will be EXPENSIVE

I've occasionally been doing DIY for one year now and I've only 6+ specializations: Custards, Peanut Butter, Cheesecakes (all variants), Lemon/ade, Bakeries, Strawberries and Blueberries, and just for 'that much' I brought about 200 different flavors. Just a few selected flavors and any guide wouldn't have sufficed.
