How do companies like 7Daze get their apple juice colored juice?
submitted almost 4 years ago by Striking_Tomato8689

Reds Apple and quite a few other juices have a yellow-dehydrated pee color. Then you get into dessert flavors and they’re super dark. Are they adding food coloring or is it the flavors they pick that causes that? I just got into it and none of the juices ive made have any color to them lol

Adding food colouring is totally unnecessary. Some of the flavouring compounds naturally have a tint when in solution, some also oxidize over time and change colour. Nicotine will also oxidise and change colour over time also.

Some flavors have some color to them. For instance SSA Dessert Chocolate is black. FA Tiramisu is pretty dark as well. There are many others, but those two came to mind pretty quickly.

That makes sense to me

in addition to what they said, juices also tend to get a lot darker while steeping

That also makes sense. The steeping process is so long and I’m feel too impatient haha

As someone who worked in a vape shop that made vape juice In house it’s entirely to do with what the flavour is made of, ie if you have a pastry flavour they tend to be darker due to vanilla being the base for most of them (vanilla is dark naturally) red apple and fruit juices as such use a natural sugar which when added to propylene glycol (the most commonly used flavour base) causes a yellowing of the sugars due to a form of oxidation

I only vaped reds (apple, berry, watermelon, strawberry, mango) before starting DIY. I wish I could find a clone recipe or something. I might buy a bottle soon, it's so good.

I’ve read some comments that say pear goes into it but no one ever says which brand or how much. My goal is to get clones of the apple mostly because I mainly vape it. That company has so much money from me lmao

That’s the one I use and it’s not identical. It’s off. I let it steep for 2 days like they said. I’m waiting a few more before I try it again

My personal favorite was the berry one. But Apple was either 2nd or 3rd. I haven't vaped any commercial juice in almost a year so I forgot where they would rank lol. They have hands down one of the best flavor line ups.

I like Apple, grape and watermelon. Their other flavors are really weird. Do you have a good apple recipe?

Regular nicotine and PG/VG over time is more or less the same color as apple juice. Though it will usually get a bit darker than that with more time.

Also, keep in mind, the longer the juice steeps (ie. gets left to age), the darker your juice will become. This is due to the oxidation of the chemicals (vg, pg, nic) in the juice. The process is similar to that of ageing wine. Dessert flavours are generally left to steep longer and are generally darker than your fruity flavours. Do yourself a favour and read up about steeping and why you need to steep juices, etc.
