####Q: How do flavors get put on the schedule?
####A: Requests and suggestions from people like YOU!
If there's something you'd like to see, just post a request in this thread. You can request both a specific flavor profile and where it lands on the calendar.
You might have heard /u/mlnikon fussing about me having 39 grapes, but only 10 of them are to new to me since the last time grape was the FOTW and a few of FOTQs more recently (WF Grape Juice, WF Grape Candy Sour, and Chef's Super Concentrate Grape).
My newest grapes are VSO Grape, CNV Grape, MB Fantasy Grape, MB Red Dragon Grape, Medicine Flower Grape, Ellis Traube Red, and these four from Magical Flavors: Grape 1701, Grape 6001, Grape 6003, and Malaysia Grape Mix.
Very curious how the MF Grape fairs. Have been considering purchasing it. Looking forward to this.
I'm sure it's been asked a hundred times and is probably in the sidebar. Don't have a chance to look at the moment. Is medicine flower worth the premium price point?
Did you try the Chef's Grape? If not I can send you some for Noted!
(ETA NVM Im dumb n cant read)
Yes I did. I can’t seem to remember it right now which probably means it wasn’t super good or super bad to me, but I’ll check my notes on it.
Still the best named recipe on atf in my humble opinion: Make Purple Grape Again. u/zany
Vaping it right now! I love it.
Mmmm. Adding bilberry to grape may make it tolerable. 🤔🖤
The probability of placing another flavor order after this episode is really high. I have only played around with a few grapes. Inw grape was really good in Make Purple Great Again. Tfa Grape juice is just too watered down to make anything decent so far and Fw Grape soda might as well be grape flavored sweetener.
I have high hopes for this episode. Maybe I'll finally be able to mix my perfect grape adv recipe soon.
Purple… I need to use FW Grape Soda more often
Man that wf sweet and sour purple drink is great stuff ,been thinking about a pear, guava and purple drink mix up just haven't had time.
I didn't like wf purple drink too much, because I perceived the 'sour' to come from 'sour watermelon candy' which tastes like dish soap to me for some reason. That said, someone recently suggested to me Barragán and it's been one of the best grape tastes I've ever mixed. Literally the only time a flavor has budged out of the 'nope' pile for me in 4 years.
I use INW Grapes in a few recipes that I enjoy but they all come off as Powerade/lighter (flavor not color) grape - looking to get darker and richer like Welch's grape juice.
TPA Grape Juice can get there, solo or spiked with a sharper brighter grape like INW or FLV. Others have added FA Bilberry or one of the black currants to grapes to take it out of the lighter territory. I like to use TPA Nectarine a little too much, but it can take an in your face purple and bend it to a freezie or jelly candy grape while adding some nectar/soft sweet/body.
No green grape?
:(
Not this time. Do I need to add that to the schedule?
Sugar, water, purple. I think I only have FW Grape soda and.... Sweet and sour purple drink from WF. Does that one count?
Recently got FLV Grape and it’s my new favourite when mixed with TFA Grape Juice for a vibrant grape candy / soda type thing with an interesting mouthfeel.
Incidentally that combo is the closest I’ve come to the deep, kinda jammy Grape profile in ASAP Grape by Nasty Juice, who I think are using REK Sapphire Grape combined with REK Blackcurrant.
Try as I might I can’t get hold of either of those flavours, as they only seem available from a couple vendors in South Africa and none of them ship internationally. I tried ordering direct from Reka but they want me to buy 25kg minimum. I’m into grape but that just seems excessive.
CNV Grape is good but weak and somewhat generic and INW Grape has gotten a little old for me. Recently got CAP Concord Grape with Stevia but am yet to SFT.
I think that CAP Concord Grape with Stevia is the most grape jam tasting thing of all the grapes I've tried so far
THE GRAPIST! (RIP Trevor Moore)
I'm not a big fan of grape flavorings (mainly bc they all seem candied/ artificial to me), but I LOVE CNV Grape. I honestly like it better than INW Grape, which is a pretty awesome grape (or is it INW Grapes? are they different? ugh INW is so confusing sometimes). CNV is a full-flavored, slightly realistic, mostly candied grape to my tastes whereas INW seems lacking.
I found the new Chef's Grape to be a pretty good candyish grape at 2%. It's a bit on the lighter non-bullying side. Grape tends to be an overpowering flavor in mixes for me, so I think this one will be useful in mixes where I don't want the boldness of CNV Grape. It's also a light translucent purple when mixed which looks really cool.
FW Grape Soda is exactly what it says it is, but it really gunks up coils n wicks.
TPA Grape Juice (weak on its own imo) + TPA Grape Candy (Grape Jolly Rancher flavor) is a great combo. I also love CAP Concord Grape w Stevia for a Welch's jammy grape, but the Stevia can leave weird aftertastes for some. I've also heard the Stevia flavors have a much shorter self life than regular concentrates.
Using an apple flavor at a low % to fill out grape flavorings is a good trick. I've seen some people using Strawberry to do the same thing, but that's kinda useless for me as I'm partially SB mute.
Seems like CNV has some really nice flavors.
Butter, Kiwi, Apricot, and Vanilla Ice Cream I would just say are ok, not really nice, not disgusting either. Passionfruit is stellar. I know I've tried more than just those five CNV but those are the only ones I can get my brain to pull up right now.
CNV Lemon Cream Wafer, Vanilla Pudding + Grape are all amazing to me. Lemon + Cookie are both pretty great. I've heard good things about their Strawberry but I'm mute to many SBs so didn't try it. Donut was decent-ish but needs help. I want to try their Sponge Cake + Peanut, but they're only at Chef's so I haven't yet.
I haven't tried a grape vape juice in a long long time. They've always been "chalky" feeling, like a grape flintstone's vitamin so I've just avoided them. I think the best I ever had was Red's Grape, but would totally be interested in some really good recipes using some of these flavors for my next order.
Thanks for the giveaways and thanks for being a part of the DIY community.
A real grape flavor is easy to identify. See my grape mix in my gunmetal RTA without color added.
That's seriously purped up! What grape mix did you put in there?
It’s Wormhole in a Grape Galaxy with just 1% FW Grape and 1.5% TPA Grape Juice. As you see from the stainless deck at the bottom , where it’s clear, it’s an optical illusion from the wavelength of the gunmetal color. It looks sick, but the taste is better than it looks.
Awesome, I love purple grape. I have chased this flavor a lot. This is a good purple recipe. https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/173135#make_purple_grape_again_by_diy_discord I like to add 1% FLV grape to this but it's good by it's self.
As for my favorite purple, INW grape but I'm ok with FW grape. FLV grape sits on top.
Grape is one of those ‘don’t really like it, but don’t hate it either’ flavors for me regardless if it’s a natural grape or a candy-style grape. Haven’t tried a whole lot, however – looking forward to the show to see if there’s any that I’m not familiar with that may be worth trying.
First grape recipe i mixed was Grack Juice , and I still remember how juicy (prob that cactus) it was. Grape also takes me out of the same old fruit flavors by having that. "purple" taste more than the actual fruit in most of them. Thanks
