I was diagnosed with covid the other day and have lost my sense of smell and taste. I have no perception of flavor but can sense sweetness, sour and spice. Those senses are diminished but still there. I thought about just making a flavorless juice since I can't taste anything but then got the idea why not throw some sour and sweet to have some sense of flavor.
So my question would be how much tfa sour is safe? I don't typically use it in my mixes and don't want to over do it because my perception of taste is diminished.
I'd recommend WS-23 to create that cooling feeling rather than taste and smell. For example, this is one use of it. I'd recommend 1% WS-23 though https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/136567#when_i_want_to_taste_by_rockyharlow
Good idea. I'll make some flavorless juice with ws23 once this tank runs dry. Thanks!
You might as well use flavorless.
TPA Sour won't make the liquid sour to any real degree. It just doesn't really work with vaping.
Bloody hell! I appreciate your reply.
I tried so many different sour concentrates to try and emulate sour after trying Northland Vapor's Blue Raz flavor, never found success. I even tried vaping just sour concentrate and VG, never worked. But you put a drop on your tongue and its like you ate a whole bag of Warheads.
i would try mints or anything wicked strong. ws23, inw lemon mix, peppermint, etc mostly repeating what everyone else has said, so consider this a second. :)
So far ws23 alone has been good. I tried all the lemons I have and there's nothing there. Taste like clean air. If I'm stuck without taste longer than 2 weeks I'll order some mint flavors.
Mine lasted a month before I could taste anything. Then I could taste sweet and salty, but meat smelled like gas. 3 months in things started retuning to normal but 10 months later shit still smells like ramen.
Better ramen than shit aye? Seriously tho that sucks. Ten months! I don't much mind everything being flavorless. The main problem I have is smell. It was my strongest sense and now there's nothing. Edit: does everything taste normal now even with the sense of smell being weird?
No use. Basically whatever works on your tongue you'll probably taste. Anything involving your sense of smell, though, i.e the olfactory is out of order.
When my gf had it she could literally chew down a clove of garlic unphased. I ate that same garlic and my head almost exploded.
It's because the olfactory mucosa is one of the first sites where this damn virus wreaks havoc, disabling the olfactory. I guess how quick you recover pretty much depends on viral load. My gf was back to normal after round about 50 days.
You should be careful to not vape too much, though. Menthol in particular and similar stuff does cause inflammation in your respiratory, which is exactly where the virus is looking to f* you up right now. Do what you can to boost your immune system. Help your body kill this thing.
Get well soon!
Menthol and mints worked well when I had covid. I made a lemon mint that I could not really taste, but I could perceive it if that makes sense. Think cough drop and build from there.
It took 3 weeks for me to taste and 8 weeks for my tastes to return fully. I think I taste better now though. I also think I may have the delta variant of covid again and retest in about an hour. My nurse coworker was just diagnosed with delta variant. She already had the first strain, and was vaccinated in March. This sucks so much. I just want to take off the n95s. Please.
Better taste sounds nice. Hope you're negative! I was vaccinated 8 weeks ago. My son has it too he's 4 months old. My lady, also vaccinated, has been around us the entire time and tested negative. Also has no symptoms. Good luck and thank you for both the insight and your service to your community.
I was vaccinated in February. Had covid in November. I am pretty positive I have it. Coworker went to NY. Then came to.work and didn't tell anyone. He should have been in n95. 3 days later he was sick. 6 out of 8 residents sick, 5 out of 12 staff. 1 out of 2 nurses sick. 1 boss sick as well. Me chest hurts like.last covid. Only my nose is stuffy this time. Oir luck it's the flu and now we got both going around. Lmao. All I can do is laugh. My face is getting calluses from n95. At least my bridge of my nose isn't wore almost to bone like last year. N95 suck to wear
Menthol was the only thing that broke through when I had it, but that also was just barely. Good luck, my friend, that was the longest month of my life not being able to enjoy vaping and foods.
Does everything taste normal now? Ws23 is the only thing so far that's worked. Food is all bland.
I had it back in November, after about a month, I could start tasting undertones of flavors. Slowly after a couple months, it returned to about 75% taste. Didn't feel like I had my full senses back til May. But everyone is different, it may not be that long for you. I read that you don't have mints, but the no taste thing can last a while, so I'd recommend at least picking up 1 bottle of it just in case.
I've had a similar thing happen to me.
But not from COVID, just the flu or something.
I just vaped flavorless for a week or so, and then it started coming back. I can't say for sure, but I don't think bombarding yourself with strong flavors is going to help. Just accept that this is how it is for now.
You could just vape unflavored for now too, it will also help you kick the sweetener habit, if you tend to use sweetener in most of your mixes like I did. I did unflavored for a month bc I wanted to stop needed sweetener. I actually really enjoyed unflavored, plus I had the added benefit of juice tasting way better when I finally did go back to flavors (or in your case, when your senses come back). wishing you a speedy recovery!
