Fellow NY DIY'ers, where are you sourcing your nic?
submitted about 4 years ago by iwonamathdebate2

Long story, my nic supplier (central vapors) just sent me an e-mail stating they cannot ship to NY d/t the "e-juice" ban and asked if I would like to cancel my entire order (had some pods and other misc stuff in it) or just for them to refund the nicotine. After a lengthy response bringing them up-to-date on the current state of things here in NY and how it is still fine to send nicotine/pg/vg (provided they abide by the PACT act), I told them to cancel the entire order. So, my fellow NY DIY friends, where is everyone sourcing they're nic from? Planning to stock up until they can unfuck this stupid situation or until I can afford to move to a different state. Feel free to PM with vendors, god knows I'd hate to be the reason for some of them not shipping. Thanks in advance.

Edit: Has something changed since September 2020? Last I knew it was "illegal" to sell flavored e-liquids other than mint and tobacco. The pact act was still a thing, but it was completely legal to source vg/pg/nic to NY. Was there ANOTHER law put into effect to further fuck us down this rabbit hole of fascism?

NY state law prohibits online juice sales for the entire state. Went into effect about a year ago, but they really started cracking down more recently. Personal deliveries are fine, retail isn't.

As for sourcing, I couldn't tell you if anyone is still evading the ban. But good luck friend, it's gonna get worse before it gets better.

Right. Online juice sales. So does that include liquid nicotine now? The way I read the statutes was that e-juice as a finished product was no longer allowed to be sold online. AFAIK if you have a business license you can still purchase e-juice online B2B but cannot sell it business to consumer over the counter. There were also loopholes such as being able to sell flavored e-juice so long as it contained no nicotine and businesses selling liquid nic separately. It is all extremely frustrating. I do have enough nicotine for another 6 months or so. But I don't like having to worry constantly about my next source, and as you've stated, it is most likely going to get worse before it gets better.

You understand the law correctly. However, it's not all ejuice as a finished product. It's flavored ejuice, including menthol, containing nicotine. Period. Vendors are just worried about shipping to NYS because of all the ridiculous regulations. It's in no way illegal unless you're buying non-tobacco flavored, finished ejuice that's already been nic'd up. Problem is finding a vendor that isn't scared to death of the NYAG office for no reason.

Gahhh. I thought I was reading and understanding it correctly. Thank you for the verification. Well I guess they don't like money? I mean if I was in the business of selling things...and some of those things recently had legislature passed on them, local or not, I would make it my duty to become knowledgeable as it's my livelihood at risk. Idk maybe I'm expecting too much?

No but since the mail ban made it so hard to order ejuice so many people went into DIY until even the biggest nic warehouses sold out plus they had that Mar 26 date to buy eny n everything vape accept USPS fortunately GOT A 6 MONTH EXTENSION BUT NOW WITH EXCISE TAX N ADULT SIG FEES BUT FEDEX, UPS, Dhl all jumped ship..i order all my mods n atomizersomize from china..i don't mind waiting its cheaper..as far as nic, Carolina extract, Delosi, Perfect vape u can still get ..then liquid barn had a little extra left over but prob sold out..Nicotine giant don't sell to NY but they also have some, wizard labs maybe.Always get 100 mg strength or more..its more expensive but buying it by 3 mg base -cause of shipping etc n always throws the math off on flavoring n vg to pg ratio..i like doing EA ingredients separate

Thanks for the info. I'll have to check out perfect vape and delosi. I'm a little hesitant on Caroline simply due to the price but I've heard it's good nic.

That's not true at all. Unflavored and tobacco flavors are still VERY legal in New York State. There hasn't been another new law. It's still the same "save the kids" bullshit from last year. Flavored juices, including menthol, with nicotine are illegal here. Online juice sales are perfectly legal here. And technically, all juice sales are legal here as long as there's no nicotine involved.

This is why many vendors are refusing to ship nicotine here, but they'll ship pretty much everything else. They're conflating the law to mean all nicotine products, and that's simply not the case. But it's hard as hell to get nic shipped here right now all the same, because all these vendors are terrified of a law suit from NYS. It's kind of bullshit.

CASAA says otherwise, they rolled a blanket ban of all online liquid sales into the law against online tobacco sales. I remember around December hearing stories of them finally cracking down and enforcing it though.

Well, it's a good thing casaa didn't write the law then. I read the actual bill, and then the subsequent law it became. That's not true.

Carolina extract, perfect vape n Delosi still seels to NY..LNW was my spot at 89$ a liter of 100 mg salt..coarse everyone panicked n sold out.River n Liquid barn stopped selling nice over 2 yrs ago to NY since flav ban hit our state as if Nic has a damn thing to do with flavors..meanwhile juuls are at every gas station n delie n if u know the delie clerk they secretly sell flavored puff bars, disposables which compared to DIY is a rip off.I have a bit over 2 liters but at 12-15 mg kinda goes fast so I stepped Dow to ten n just crank the Watts with better mesh strips or coils ..it feels exactly like 15-20mg the higher u crank the Watts lol 70/30 100 mg salt..hence why its dangerous to vape 25-50 mg in a sub ohm at 90w lol. People say Watts has nothing to do with it but yeah their wrong

I stocked up pretty hard about a year ago. Got enough in the freezer to last me a couple years. If you didn't stock up before the ban..... well, good luck?

Thanks? I stocked a while back and still have some. But I'd like to have more just in case. Never thought the flavor ban or pact act would affect the diy side. It shouldn't in all honesty if you actually read the statutes. But alas, people (businesses) are sheep.

A few months back I was still able to get a couple bottles (as in juice, not just nic) shipped to family in New Mexico. Not sure if that's still an option or not. Might be worth a try for anyone in the NY/NJ area.

Yeah I was able to get bottled juice post flavor ban for a bit but went diy when pact act seemed like the nail in the coffin. Thanks for the info regardless. Cheers.

yeah, unfortunately most US vendors stopped selling nic around late March/ April of this year. there were a few places still selling for awhile but idk if they still are. shipping to NY has been tough for awhile too bc of the dumb laws. i highly recommend searching this sub as this question gets asked very often, hopefully you'll be able to find some useful information from ppl with recent nic purchase experience! if that fails, you can always try ordering from HiLiq in China, they seem to have pretty high quality nicotine. try to order when the weather is cooler to avoid potential damage/ oxidation during shipment

Thanks for the info. I did search but most people dm/pm this kind of info apparently. I'm only an hour from PA so if worse comes to worse....

Oh gotcha, probably bc NY is so touchy about it. If I ever need to buy nicotine in the future, I'll probably be going with HiLiq just from the research/ reviews I've read. Have you looked into Carolina Xtracts? They're expensive, but they're also use fully US grown & processed tobacco. They might be close enough for you to do an in person pickup at if they wont ship (IIRC they're in north Carolina or nearby)

I have looked at Carolina Xtracts. Man the prices were quite large honestly. Jacksonville NC is about a 12 hour drive straight through from where I live. Are they shipping to NY? Or is that why you mentioned the in person pickup? That'd be some expensive nic if I had to drive down and get it lol.

I ordered a liter from Carolina Xtracts in April. Still waiting to receive it. They said PG nic was delayed due to a shortage of propylene glycol.

Maybe I can get a refund of the $147.25 for the nic and $22.90 for shipping.

Hey fellow NY'er here as well. Just wondering if you were lucky finding your nic source or a site that still ships?? I was thinking about giving carolina a shot too, but its says bold 'only ship to commercial address' on pretty much every listing.
