It's literally just a PG/VG/NIC mix, I get really bored of flavors but I don't get bored of it, as it doesn't taste like anything.
Yep, I have been vaping unflavoured for years, it's vastly underrated in my humble opinion. It's like when I used to smoke rollies for forty plus years, I didn't buy tobacco for it's great custard or strawberry taste (although I must admit rum & wine Port Royal was my favourite tobacco!) They made those ghastly menthol cigarettes to cover up the taste of burning tobacco. I smoked because I was addicted to nicotine, not for the taste. Sure, I like vaping to be enjoyable, but, I vape as I am addicted to nicotine, not for delightful flavours. I always build with unflavoured juice & mostly run a few tanks on a new build unflavoured before starting to top up with flavoured juice. I find many shop bought juices far too sweet for me and when I make my own I use less concentrate than most.
Actually menthol cigarettes were developed to lightly numb the throat which made smoking a smoother experience.
I remember smoking GPC menthols as a kid thinking "Theese are the Bhest Fucking Things Ehverrr!"
GPC! I remember those! When prices on name brand kept skyrocketing I was smoking sub generics. About 16 years ago I switched to RYO then when regular tobacco was hit with those ridiculous taxes I switched to the new "pipe tobacco" which of course was just regular cig tobacco cut differently. Would go through 1 pound a month. Now I vape and I can BREATHE.
I vape unflavored about 90% of the time, and have for about 4 years. Every once in a while I'll mix up a 120ml bottle with half the favoring as what I use in what I sell, but it's not very often. It's mostly because I'm lazy.
My coils last much longer than they used to.
Is there some reason that more people don't use the silicone rope in their vapes? ever since i switched my coils last months, even with store bought. I've been buying store stuff because i was unsure of what the nic ban would mean, rather than use my 3.5 liters in the freezer mostly unopened.
With unbleached fancy cotton i was replacing the cotton about twice a week, even with my own mixes with no sweeteners. Store bought stuff would crust over within 8 hours on the coils. And with cotton you can't just burn it off, because that messes the cotton up.
To clean my coils i just fire until the coils catch on fire, then let that burn out. If they're extra nasty i use a 4" fan to blow high velocity air over the coils while firing, until they're an even orange/red and then let it burn off all the stuff in the wicks. Just doing this maybe once or twice a week, the coils usually last until they break from what i can only assume is oxidization or fatigue, they always snap right next to where they're clamped down. I use 32-36 AWG *6 twisted, in various configurations, clapton, dragon, whatever they're called. My mod is currently set to 72W with a single coil at 0.45Ohms, and i run 5% nic salt right now. When i do my own mixes i mix at about 12-15% nic salt and i generally run about 30W, with ~0.35-0.45 ohm coils.
You don't want to use that method with SS vape wire, it can be detrimental to your health. If you are using kanthal it's a bit better but still bad. Really, you want to avoid oxidation on your coils as much as possible, if they even look a little rusty, do a fresh build. With most of my DIY adventures a pair of coils can easily last a month anyway.
You must be getting a crazy nic hit with that much nic salts and that high wattage.
Silicone rope?
My wife's former coworker found out through conversation that I made vape juice. Asked that I make her 12mg flavorless juice. When I first got the request, I looked at my wife like "what?!!!?" But hey, she was willing to throw me money for it, so who the hell am I to judge?
Yup. Coils last 4 x longer, juice is basically free. I cut out flavorings a few years back too and I love it. I have to buy my wife a bottle like once a month so if I ever want some flavor I just hit hers.
Does your coil cotton ever go black (or dark) with no flavor?
I've been doing the same for a while, but I cut out the nic too last year. Somehow due to muscle memory and the placebo effect I still feel like vaping. You can buy the PG/VG base for $30 a liter!
I can get a gallon of vg for 30 bucks. Another 30 and have a gallon of pg too.
That cheap? Where from?
I dont vape unflavored but I vape the same tangerine flavor always its easy to make taste good and for some reason It doesnt get old going on 5 years now
care to share what exactly your mix is?
i know ppl enjoy capellas sweet tangerine solo but to some it harsh
Sure

Cap Sweet Tangerine 5%

Yep, unflavoured for years. I don’t understand the need for flavours, cigs tasted like shit and we didn’t have a problem. This tastes like nothing, maybe a faint Nic taste at high %. For me, flavour is just extra unknown shit I don’t need - this is harm minimisation for me.
I've managed a vape shop for about 6 or 7 years now and flavorless has been one of if not our best seller for the last few years as a standalone product. The main reason it sells so well is the fact that people who use flavorless rarely ever try anything else and just stick to their "brand" like a smoker would. Most people who vape flavours tend to switch it up both to maintain variety and avoid vaper's tongue which isn't an issue with flavorless. It's funny I literally had this conversation with a customer about 10 minutes ago so figured I'd chime in!
Where’s the best place to buy plain pg/vg/nic base?
Buy a gallon of each. Shelf life is 2 years at least from experience. Look at vapor lab in KY. I messaged them about a week ago, their website looks pretty empty, but the diy stuff I'd still shipping. I used them before and had great experiences.
Glad I scrolled through this thread. I’m in central ky and hadn’t heard of Vapor Lab. Appreciate the heads up.
I've never tried this but since I DIY I guess I can try it anytime I want. I've been really lazy with mixing lately. Just a few simply recipes, one commercial juice I still buy and one shots. On occasion I'll vape plain juice with just a few drops of menthol or peppermint.
To each their own i suppose.. But unflavored is too.. Blah, for me anyway. And concentrates really aren't that expensive. Even if I go balls to the wall buying a crazy amount of flavors, and wire, and gear, I still haven't come close to the amount I used to spend on cigarettes a month... Okay, some of my gear is a bit more expensive, but it's not like I buy high end shit all the time.
I recently vaped only unflavored juice for the sole purpose of kicking my sweetener habit. at first my goal was 1 week, but I ended up doing it for a month. I actually enjoyed it by the 2nd week, which surprised me! unflavored only is not for me, but I now keep unflavored juice in my regular rotation.
