Fine u/apexified here’s your upvote!
I have never had a fig newton, cause I’m too european for that. But you know what? Alfred’s Concrete Newton is one of my absolute guilty pleasure recipes, although u/isuamadog says it doesn’t taste like a real fig newton
I said, “I don’t think it’s possible to make a fig Newton in vape form”. It’s delicious, it’s clever, but not a fig Newton to me. Chewy texture just doesn’t come through in vape and anyone who says so is just stretching imagination
But does it taste like a fig newton?
Fig Newton, to me, is indistinguishable from its texture. Somehow, wf croissant actually does translate to my brain as flaky. Idk how it does it, but it does. Some are gummy. I like the concrete Newton and think it’s delicious, but lacks that texture that triggers ‘Newton’ in my brain.
first
A sleeve of Fig Newtons is a great thing for me. FA Fig is not what I was looking for though. It's good, but not figgy newtony like I'd hoped. Maybe because I've never had fig without the Newton crust.
I know that the inscrutable Fig Newton is definitely built using FA Fig, however, at the same time, I don't know how it could be. What a weird flavor.
Never had figgy pudding. If you have some, bring me some figgy pudding. I should like to try this.
I decided to try my FA Fresh Fig and found a recipe that looked OK on paper. It's this one here, Deep Passion. Going in to it I knew the FA Passion Fruit could be too high so I only mixed 20ml. Off the knuckle it tasted great but I vaped it a day 7 and it wasn't doing anything for me - harsh and I couldn't really get a read on the flavors except brown sugar/caramel. I might come back to it as I still have some left.
One thought that popped into my head was that Fresh Fig might be awesome with INW AM4A or Black for Pipe. Might give it a whirl some day.
Fun fact: most fruits are pollinated by bees but figs are pollinated by wasps. I don't think I'm ever going to eat a real fig again. Wasps creep me out.
I swear Cap Sweet Guava tastes a bit figgy to me. Could be a figment of my imagination. Even smells like my fig perfume! I think it's more reminiscenct of fig than guava to me. I was an avid guava eater growing up too.
i love figs plain, fig newtons, fig cakes, figgy pudding, dried figs, fig jam, avocado + fig filled grilled cheese sammies, balsamic + fig mozza pizza, bacon wrapped figs, blue cheese stuffed figs... seriously i go figgin nuts for figs. excited for this episode as i don't own any fig flavors!
This is an old recipe I made, not sure how it stands up, but it's the only recipe I used a fig flavor in: Rich RY4 #422
