I see online there are a lot of different complex recipes, but as someone starting out is it alright to use a single flavor by itself?

If so what are some recommendations? I looked through the first order list but some of them just didn't seem like they would be good alone. Does anyone have any experience using single simple flavors?
Every other evening, I make a 10mL, 0-Nic vape to chillax with, and when I don't feel like whipping up something awesome, I'll use the following single-flavor liquids:
[Group 1]
Purilum Sunset - 10-15%
You may be thinking that the percentage on that is absurdly high, and in most cases, you'd be 100% correct. This flavor, however, doesn't really do anything until you reach higher concentrations. I'm assuming this is the reason it's constantly in bargain bins and on sale in large quantities for cheap AF. I "reviewed" it here, years ago, and described it as something like, "a tropical mess". My thoughts on it have not changed. At 10-15%, though, it just gives my palate something to think about, so I like it.
Inawera GrapeS ("S" for emphasis on the plural) - 2-3%
I usually use this in mixes, of course, but it's honestly really nice on its own. Sometimes I really get a good wine note out of it, if I go above 3%, that is.
Wonder Flavours Blueberry Jam - 2-3%
Similar to INW Grapes, this flavor is beautiful in mixes, and kinda serviceable on its own.
Inawera Jungle Frost - 3%
So, here's another survivor from one of my bargain bin endeavors. The first time I tasted this, I nearly gagged due to the perfume-forward nature of it. However, being the frugal bastard that I am, I started trying to "get my money's worth" by burying it in mixes and seeing what it offered. It's got a bit of a cooling effect (WS-23-esque), but I still add WS-23 to it because, well, WS-23.
Anyhow, for some inexplicable reason, I've begun to develop an appreciation for this concentrate in single-flavor form. If you read the description of the flavor, you'll get the impression that you're going to taste wonderful berries from some far-off tundra or some shit.
No.
It's fruity perfume, and I hate that I've developed a taste for this, but I have.
[Group 2]
TFA Banana Nut Bread - 8%
There's a reason everyone has this flavor. It's just excellent in mixes. At 8%, all of the notes come out for me as a single-flavor liquid, so I'll slap this together on some nights and be totally content.
Wonder Flavours Glazed Donut - almost any %
I. Love. This. Flavor. I don't think I've ever gone above 6% with this, but as a single flavor, it just feels like every percentage from 1-6 has something different to offer. It's freaking ridiculous.
Favorah Rich Cinnamon - .25-.4%
I can't say anything about this flavor that hasn't been said a billion times already. I put it in my coffee, I put it in my anabolic French toast, I put it in crepes, smoothies, etc.
[Summary]
I use plenty of other flavors as single-flavor liquids, but none of those, nor these, would be ADV's for me; more like impromptu ANV's. The first four are all single ingredients that I pair in one of my ADV's, and the latter three are ingredients I use in another one of my recipes. I grouped them together so that if you wanted to try any group of them, you might also feel comfortable experimenting with combining them into full-fledged recipes.
I'd honestly skip the Jungle Frost unless you're feeling particularly adventurous. Blueberry Jam, INW Grapes and Purilum Sunset can make some tasty, tasty stuff in concert.
Tl;Dr: Don't read any of the above. It's dumb, and I'm tired. Love you. Good night.
I’m not sure there is any difference between INW grape and INW grapes. On river supply it’s grapes but on chefs an bull city it’s grape, none of them have both so I think they are one an the same . I’m currently using INW grape with CAP sweet current in a candy mix that is great . If u have any info otherwise I would appreciate it because even though I bought this INW grape well over a year ago it’s my first time using it an it is a fantastic flavour . Great post by the way even if u were tired😁😁😁
Giggling @ your username.
Well, you could be right about the INW Grape/Grapes thing. The only "knowledge" I have about the difference comes from hearsay. Whatever the case, if there's a difference or not, it just speaks to the wonderful wackiness of INW, in general.
AFAIK it’s INW Grape. But INW Grapes is the same thing. What confuses me is if there’s three INW Raspberry flavors or just two?
TFA Ry4 double 6%
CNV Lemon Cream wafer 7%
CAP sweet guava 5% - 7%
INW Grapes 3% - 3.75%
FA Fuji 3% - 4%
FA Forest Fruit 5%

Most single flavors don't really cut it as full flavored all day vapes. Why not just make recipes? You're limiting yourself by sticking to only single flavors.
Having said that, if you search the sub, there is a big post/multiple posts about single flavors. My votes would be FLV Wild Melon, WF Bumbleberry, LB Strawberry Cheesecake.
You could also use one shots.
I don't recommend strawberry flavors. I have to mix 3 or 4 different flavors to get it to come out right and not taste blind me immediately.
Maybe a nice sweet peach flavor? Or spearmint? But I'd want koolada added to spearmint so it would give me the cold flavor.
I've been working on a spearmint buts it's about 5 or 6 flavors or more depending...
Wow really? What are you using? I didn't realize it would be so complex.
Menthol
Fa polar blast
Fa peppermint
Tpa peppermint
Inw mix mint
Tpa spearmint
Ws23
Koolada
Was using koolafa and/or ws23 but I kept getting a weird taste in my mixes. I'm guessing those were the culprits...which sucked highly, cause i started mixing to make the perfect cold spearmint for myself.
It's close to what I was wanting to do.
I've been on halo spearmint for years and have one bottle left.
The polar blast has some koolada, and I think I can still taste it. I'ma revise again tonight or tomorrow.
I have a bunch of flavors that I vape single.
Flavor West - cotton candy, wild cherry, natural lemonade, strawberry shortcake, blueberry
Capella - french vanilla, vanilla bean ice cream, New York cheesecake
I love cotton candy and cotton candy flavors, however FW cotton candy tastes disgusting to me, but I've heard good things about it. Is it possible I got a bad batch? Do you use sweetener? I don't understand.
Hi. There’s a reason why you see more than one flavor in a recipe. Single flavors aren’t complete, they are boring, one-dimensional and bland. I can see you not wanting to buy 10 flavors per recipe when starting out. Here’s a compromise. There are a lot of 3-2-1 recipes on ATF as well as here on the sub. 3-2-1. That means they use 3 flavors. I suggest choosing a few of those and order the flavors used. That should get you off to a very good start. Welcome to DIY!
Flv peppermint .25%
WF sour blue raspberry candy 3%
TFA juicy peach
FA meringue 1%
TFA dx peanut butter 5%
TFA banana cream
LA lemonade 6%
INW shisha strawberry 2%
CAP green apple hard candy 8%
I enjoy vaping all of these as singles, not perfect but totally worth the minimal effort. I can't remember some percentages off my head but they are all near the average % used on ATF. LA lemonade is the best one on the list, followed by CAP gahc I vape those as singles on the regular
I was on strictly cap vanilla custard ~10% for years. For some reason nothing else could match it for me. It made life so easy.
Actually my favourite juice concentrate is custard with a hint of hazelnut. Great one, got me off the cigarettes from one day to another.
Same here! Just got back into diy after a pod/salt hiatus and have actually been enjoying variety for a change. I’m going try your combo with hazelnut though! I used to add a bit of cinnamon danish swirl or dragon fruit when my taste feelers were off.
Dragon fruit sounds interesting, gonna try it defininately. My blueprint for this mix was a concentrate called "Mr et Mme noisette custard" from a french company. I put in a little more hazelnut though 😊. 3% and 15% custard on 50/50 PG/VG with 6mg nic (3mg salt/3mg freebase).
I'm only starting out but I plan to do single flavour fruits with cooling additive or a mix of fruits only at this point.
Interested to know if there is a default percentage recommend for single flavour.
There is an average percentage for each flavor and also some manufacturers have a SF and in a mix directive. but there can’t be a default for all SF Since there is a massive variance in potency.
There’s allot that are OK on their own but asking for recs… we don’t know what you might like!
I often vape tpa grape juice alone at 6% if I’m lazy but it’s better with 1% JF juicy lemon in it.
Others I’ll vape alone are OSDIY blue slush and succulent strawberry but rarely. Most I’d say at least need to be in a pairing of 2 or 3. Can still be simple… just better.
If it’s that you’re unsure on how to mix how about going to all the flavors and find some simple recipes? Try searching 3-2-1 mixes. That will help you get a good feel for things and give you a much fuller vape.
My all day vape is FW spearmint (natural) @10% with 2% FW Sweetner. Those % might sound high but trust me it’s the perfect cold sweet spearmint vape. It tastes exactly like the soft mints sweets we have here in the uk. Also it’s great on cotton and coils, I rewicked around 2 weeks ago an still my cotton is white an no crusty build up on my coil . It looks like I built it yesterday
TFA RY4 DOUBLE @6 OR 7%
WF FLAPPER PIE @6%
My go to all time fav that's simple and easy is RY4. I just love that flavor with half a percent of sweetener.
Flapper pie is a new one for me and I'm enjoying it but I have some ideas also for recipe. At 6% it's really good and heck both can be snv I just normally wait 1-3 days on snv unless for some reason I'd have nothing already made etc
A lot of people recommend single flavors to start to get a better feel for the flavors and profiles yadda yadda. Personally I think that's unnecessary, there's certainly a depth there that can be explored hobby-wise, but there's no reason you can't just mix recipes out of the gate. That's what I did and obvs I can't compare to if I had started by mixing single flavors, but I feel fine trying some of my own recipes even without a bunch of single flavor mixing experience.
First you need to decide which flavor you want as your base fruits bakery, candy banana nut Bread is a great fruit bakery stand alone apple pie Doughnuts with ice cream or cream if you tell me what flavors you have we can help you with percentages brand and flavors to get you started
