Smoked cigs for 8 years, been vaping for 6
submitted about 4 years ago by laketoast

I enjoyed diy since I started. Used vaping to quit smoking cigarettes. And now I'm on my last little drips of nicotine. I'm kinda bummed about it. It's been a fun journey, and I hope I'm strong enough to quit everything entirely and not land back on cigarettes. Shipping in the US is over and vape shops have long since left where I live. I've tried thousands of recipes and a lot of those were from here. Thank you all for going on this journey with me and I hope anyone else in my predicament the best of luck.

This is what infuriates me so much about this ban... This isnt about safety or health, its about taking away alternatives to cigarettes so that thats the only option left for smokers and they can get their sales and tax income back.

I wrote this whole thing and had to erase it cause..Im trying to have a good day and not go off lol I hope too you dont land back on cigarettes... Wishing you all the best.

Exactly. Tobacco (and the tax dept.) has too much say over there in the US. Not only that, it wouldn't surprise me if Big Pharm is in on it with them too with all that expensive health care they have to supply to smokers.

Thankfully, here in the UK, they're still fully behind vaping as an alternate/solution to tobacco. I'm under no illusion that vaping isn't good for you either, but, it keeps me off cig's and it's DEFINITELY better for you than cig's.

They'll probably find something concerning down the line, after more/better data, to do with vaping. Whether it's certain flavours/pg/vg/liquid nic, coil metals, cotton, but, I'm still fairly confident it's will not be as severe as cigarettes. For a start, I've had problems with asthma in the past and started feeling really heavy in the chest after 20+ years of smoking tobaccos. Then when I switched to vaping I could definitely breathe better and more freely. Like it was a noticeable difference. Having relapsed after my first box mod broke I was back smoking for a bit and nearly just jacked vaping for tobacco as it seemed (I was telling myself) it was more convenient. My breathing started getting slightly more laboured again so I went back to vaping.

Now I craft my own liquids, coils, the full works (saving a fortune in return) and at least now I know more than reasonably required what I'm putting in my lungs.

I personally think I breathe more potent toxins walking the streets from vehicles and other forms of exhaust fumes.

Best of luck to you quitting. Just know there are options to get more nicotine if you relapse. You've been smoke free for 6 years, keep it up. Don't give tobacco companies another cent of your hard earned cash.

I have been using gremberry farms recently for premixed flavors for all my candy making needs.

Also I purchase nicotine from carolina xtract.

So worst case scenario I think you could make something happen to keep you of the burning sticks.

I quit smoking about 5 years ago by vaping after 15yrs. I was about a pack a day...maybe a bit less. After the 3rd year i switched to zero nicotine and didnt even flinch. The act of vaping was enough for me. Only reason I went back to nicotine juice is because i found 0% too sweet. Maybe it will be easy for you too. I have been debating just quitting period and put the money elsewhere. Vaping is like a comfort similar to cigarettes. So its a matter of breaking the habit.

I don’t think I could quit. Is zero nic almost like quitting? Vaping is fun for me

I'm still using 2 mg nic but just because I like the throat hit. Zero nic just kind of tastes bland to me.

Meanwhile there is no problem selling nicotine gum / lozenges, patches. All of which are not as effective as vaping. And the whole flavor bans because of kids is crap too. I started and still use flavors to keep me tobacco free. At least with DIY I can always mix with flavors.

20 years of smoking. I'm 34 years old. Back in the days, you could buy a pack of Malb as a Toddler in Europe. Now I vape and DIY since a few weeks/months. I started vaping in 2012 for a few weeks, but the eGo was too soft 🤣 and bought tavacco again.

Vaping got me off a habit that marked my life and eventually would have ended it, maybe it still will end it. I did not touch a cig since I mixed my first batch of 50/50 Mr. et Mme Hazelnut custard 6mg freebase juice.

I ask myself why would someone have such a fucked up idea to ban this? Cigarettes should be banned.

I congratulate everyone who gets off the cig and then off the nic. Man, all those lives saved...
