So Ive been vaping pure 50mg 50/50 nic salt base from LNW for a while an had zero issues, but they stopped shipping to non-businesses recently, so I had to order from PerfectVape as that is the only place I could find that still shipped to my state. After trying out the stuff, this is the brand new coil and cotton after just 4ml of it: http://imgur.com/a/Jd8c3cZ . What is going on here? Settings not changed, mix is same (50/50 50mg), absolutely no flavor/sugar.. For comparison, a single coil lasted fine through the entire 240ml bottle of LNW's mix. I could even rinse the cotton with water after ~20ml and it would be as good as new (for curiosity, not for reuse). This gunk is hard as plastic and does not wash off. Vapor production crawled to a halt by the end of those 4ml even though I had to bump the temperature throughout (ss316, temp reg). Also the mod would constantly show "overtemp protection" which never happened with LNW's mix. Am I doing something wrong? Defective batch (again? I tried ordering twice, 1st time "smooth," 2nd time "hit")? Anything else?
^(coil was stretched for photos, it was much more packed while in use; this is fourth coil in a row that experienced this; i tried their "smooth" mix 1st, it was performing just like this, but with an additional irritating sour taste, ordered "hit" to try it instead, photos shown are from "hit")
I don’t know, but it kind of sounds like a hardware issue. „Overtemp protection„ has nothing to do with your nicotine. A lot of vapers have gotten their nicotine from them lately and I have not heard of such issues. Have you tried lowering your nicotine level? 50mg/ml is an awful lot. It says on their website that „smooth“ has a sour smell and taste to it. Nicotine is not flavorless, nor is VG/PG and the higher contraction you vape, the more you will taste it. To be honest, no matter what I vape, I rewick after every tank and clean my coils as needed. I would try diluting some to 25mg/ml and see how that vapes. And find out what’s going on with your mod. It could be that your wattage is too low for your coil and you’re boiling your eliquid which causes gunking or that something else is going on.
Just wanted to note that I used same hw/settings/coil config with other brand 50/50 50mg and had absolutely zero issue. Its also temp regulated, and with this eliquid it, it hits set temp instantly and then goes in "overtemp protection" and clocks wattage way down which didnt happen with any other eliquid I put in it prior.
I posted in your other thread, sorry about your nic. Still, email them with the batch number and complain.
I placed an order with them a few weeks ago because they were the cheapest. But those bastards wouldn’t take my money. If their nic is shit then I’m glad they refused to take my credit card now.
Resurrecting this thread because I have a similar issue, and it might help someone if they search.
The smooth salt nic burns on the coils within 8ml depending on the recipe, and as quickly as 1ml.
I have tried with factory coils, RBAs, RTAs, round wire, mesh, Kanthal and SS, and several devices.
I mixed two batches one with and one without the nicotine and tested in the same RTA and on the same device, even the same coil dry burned in between.
Tank was fresh from sonic cleaner and air dried. installed new Kanthal mesh strip and wicked. primed and filled tank with 12mg nic batch. The nic batch gunked on the coils in the first 2.5ml tank.
I dissembled the tank, dry burned the coil, ran it back through the cleaner, allowed to air dry, reinstalled mesh and wicked. Primed with 0mg and filled the tank. I vaped three tanks over the course of two days and could keep going, but I want nicotine in my vape.
I understand that there are variables but I have eliminated enough of them to satisfy my own curiosity. I went through about 75ml of the stuff trying to find a recipe that wouldn't gunk coils, thinking it was the flavors, the tank, I read this original post and tried a different mod... finally decided to test if it was the nic... not happily found out it is.
I know this is a really old thread, but this is good info, and I want you to know that I absolutely appreciate your post and the details of all the things you've tried. If you spot this comment, I'd love to know if you've found a clean-burning and clean-tasting source of salt nic.
