Issues with TFA mixing?
submitted over 4 years ago by justyr12

So I've been making my own liquids for a while now, but i only got regular big brands shots, diluted them and they were ready to vape immediately.

Today I got a couple of TFA concentrats, i put nicotine in the bottle, i put some 80/20 base, started shaking everything and all good.

Now, the liquid is translucent, the colour of lemodane, there are no air bubbles in it, but i see that there are bubbles of liquid inside, like oil in water. What is this about? Should I shake it more, will it disolve? Is it supposed to be like this?

What flavor did you use and what % did you mix it at?

Most single flavors aren't a full profile and will need help from other flavors.

They aren't like one-shots for the most part. You can't mix them at 10-20% and expect it to be good.

15ml passion fruit and 15ml spearmint, the whole mix is 250ml. It's been about 2 hours now and the 'oil' bubbles are almost dissolved, i think it's getting better.

The separation you see is likely from the spearmint as it contains the terpene Carvone-L.

That's also a ton of flavoring.

The average for TPA Spearmint is 1% and you have it at 6%.

Same with the passion fruit, the average for that one is like 3% and you have double that.

In the future I'd recommend looking on ATF or ELR for the flavors average use % and starting around there.

Soo, I have 250ml right now. Should I add more base until it's 500ml? That would be a good concentration for the 30ml of flavour I have?

So are isolated terpenes safe to mix in nic juice? I have run into so much conflicting info on this for so long that I don't know what to believe anymore.

For example, I have both a-pinene and d-limonene. I've wanted to make a pine ginger vape juice but don't want to do something too dangerous. Could you help me out here?

I’d highly recommend trying anything new in smaller batches. You’re less likely to have waste if something doesn’t work the way you think, or intend it to.

When I single mix flavors I only make 5ml, and even when I’m trying new recipes, either other peoples, or one I’m working on creating, I’m only making 10ml.

Once I know I like it I’ll start looking at larger quantities, though I still don’t make anything over 60 since I like to switch back and forth between flavors.

Before i always made 250-300 ml, i finished it in about a month. This was unexpected, i thought it was a regular one shot. But I'll keep it in mind now, i see this kind of diy liquid is another world to be explored, I'll get better once i experiment more with it. I'll need more bottles tho

Everything everyone else has said plus this: use a mixing calculator and some recipes off the net.

You need to mix vg/ph with the concentrates first if it is say 70/30 say your concentrates 5% ="70%vg 25%pg if you are shacking and vaping you must really SHAKE IT or you can get hot spots in the mix

If your using non oil based flavors it should all shake up .. I shake mine for a good minute.. let it settle and shake another minute. color depends on the flavoring
