When I started vaping, I jumped into DIY almost straight away. My first few bottles of commercial juices are not too sweet, so I thought nothing of it. When I started mixing, I'm using at most 1% FW sweetener, which is the perfect spot for me.
Recently I bought some new hardware and received 50ml sample pack of juice. I added 10ml of nic and 10ml of VG to maintain 50PG/50VG ratio, and proceeded to try the sample. It tasted like I have a whole packet of Equal sweetener in my mouth the whole time while vaping. And that is with the sample being diluted, I can't imagine how sickly sweet it would be if it was vaped as it is supposed to.
The sweetness still lingers in my mouth as I'm typing this. Guess I'm gonna have to dilute it some more. Really appreciate the DIY community, vape shops could keep sending samples my way but I'm not biting the $25 for 30ml of sweetener anytime soon.
I cant do sweetener at all. My cotton still clean after 80+ ml ..
Skip the sweetener all together, in most cases you prob wont need it.
I found that I do need it.. My mixing skills are not great enough to produce great flavors without sweetener.
I find that some recipes just need a touch of sweetener to make it more authentic tasting or to help the flavor pop. Otherwise it tastes like your vaping a diet dessert ejuice. I mix without sweetener the first round, then add a touch to see if it improves the recipe.
I honestly think that new mixers should do .50-1% and gradually reduce it. I’m down to .25-.50 of sweetener and that’s fine with me. 💋
If I add sweetener to a juice it’s MAYBE .5%. I’ve found that most flavors(I vape fruits and candys) are almost too sweet as a stand-alone….
Last time I had a commercial juice it made me want to puke it was so sickly sweet. Also it felt that my whole mouth and teeth had been sugar glazed. On the rare occasions I do use a sweetner it's at like 0.5%. Christ knows how much they put in.
This is definitely my problem with commercial juices. Even most of the tobacco flavored juices Ive tried were dessert level sweet and it drives me nuts. I have one I really like and cant really replicate that I use, so I tried their "cuban" flavor of the same brand and it is disgusting.
I noticed that too. Some commercial flavors are too sweet, or over powering. Sometimes I can’t taste the flavor for some reason, or it’s very light in flavor. When I made my own, the flavor was there, and wasn’t as powerful. I also learned what flavors made my coil last and didn’t last. Like sweet cream or whipped cream would make my coil not last very long. Other flavors like fruit are fine and my coil last longer. And you save money making your own. I’m still using the Nautilus 5ml tank.
Sweetener helps enhance weak flavor, which is probably why some commercial juices use it in excess. It's cheaper to use low flavor percentages or cheaper flavorings if you add sweetener.
I've read some people use 0.5% sweetener. That is quite a bit. Anything over 0.2% is terrible on coils. If you want to try and add sweetener I'd say start at 0.1%.
Wtf are all these people talking about cotton lasting 2 weeks?! This is not all sweetener. Vape most of the tobaccos and you will be changing cotton by end of day. Custards do the same thing to cotton, although not as fast tobaccos, sweetener or not. 0.5%-1% sweetener works well in making some juice better IMO, especially fruit juices.
