Question about DIY Safety Compendium
submitted over 4 years ago by TanKalosi

Okay, so in a fit of paranoia I decided to have a look at the Safety Compendium in the sidebar for info, but a lot of flavors seem unlisted. For example, I search for Mango and TFA Mango is not listed - does this mean that flavour does not contain any Orange Oil or could it just be unlisted?

Is there no way to filter by 'No evidence of being harmful'? It's a bit ambiguous whether unlisted flavors are "safe" or just unlisted.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks in advance.

For the vendors that have given us safety information, if a flavor is unlisted then it's "safe" as far as we know. If you don't see any of a vendor's flavors on the safety site, best to assume they haven't given us anything and we have no idea.

Awesome, so if I look for example TFA Mango and it's unlisted, while other TFA flavors ARE listed, it means it's "safe", correct?

Thanks again.

You don't want TFA Mango. It's not good. Like. No.

Its not a list of ALL flavors. It's a list of flavors with possibly harmful ingredients with the information we were given. TFA is one of the vendors that have given us their data.

To the best of our knowledge, yes.

Just an FYI - TFA Mango taste and smells like filthy unwashed feet. I'd recommend literally any other brand for mango.

I'm sort of conflicted about this list. Like if your goal is to be as safe as possible then by all means avoid everything on the list. But I have doubts about how the underlying research applies to vaping.

If it's to be taken as gospel then a lot of flavors that people have been inhaling for the last decade have been causing significant harm. I'm open to that possibility as I'm sure whoever assembled that guide is much more qualified than I am. However I just haven't seen evidence of that yet. It also seems possible that at high dosages substances like peppermint oil are extremely toxic but at low dosage it's more or less fine.

Definitely makes me think twice tho. As a decade or two from now I'd prefer not to be one of the people who demonstates that a flavor causes damage.

99.9% of the time just not listed. I've used about all the brands used in diy and they will not harm anyone. Nic on the other hand well you know never keep it down where pets are located and etc.
