Non-Fruit/Candy Recipes for Caliburn G/OG
submitted over 4 years ago by rootspy

Hi All,

You fine folks have helped me out every time , hoping you can this time.

Subject kind of says it all, I have read the sidebars, etc. and I know what works well...but...

Thing is fruit/candy recipes just don't "agree" with me, and I tend more to desserts, custards, etc.

Are there ANY recipes in that category that work decent with a pod system?
Searches on ELR and ATF would seem to indicate no.

Thanks in advance to this fantastic community.

This is one of my favorite bakery recipes. It is based on the famous Rhondonite recipe but with FA's Nonna's Cake instead of the Yellow Cake. I use this in all my devices. I also like it in my Caliburn with Salicylate based Nicsalts.

This is my pod version, with bumped up percentages.

Acetyl Pyrazine: 0.75%
Almond (FA): 1.75%
Bavarian Cream (TFA): 0.75%
Vienna Cream (FA): 0.75%
Nonna's Cake (FA): 2%
Cookie (FA): 2%
Fresh Cream (FA): 0.75%
Fuji Apple (FA): 1.5%
Meringue (FA): 1.5%
Raspberry (INW): 0.75%
Torrone (FA): 0.5%
MTS Wizard (FA): 0.3%

FW Red Bowl 10%

TFA Champagne 2.5%

Super Sweet 0.5%

You can turn any of these up or down, personally wouldn't go above 1.5% on super sweet though. Your choice

Just use "pod" on ATF as search term.

Ya did that first, if you see almost all of the popular/mixed ones are fruity/candy stuff.

Not a pod user so can’t attest to how good they are but a quick search on ATF for “pod” came up with quite a few. A marshmallow cream filled donut with frosted flake topping, banana custard, several desert/custard baccos, eggnog coffee, honey graham cracker, and that was just the first 7 pages.

If you’re really set on good desert recipes though, I’d suggest trying to migrate to an rda or something though since pods rely on simple pairings.

I use a pod.. is this why most of the recipes I follow don't taste so great? Why is this? I really like the smallness of the pod systems, as a former smoker. Also, I keep it in my pocket.

You use way less liquid in a pod system compared to a RDA. If you compare really complex recipes vaped on a RDA with any pod, you will taste much less details, because less vapor gets in contact with your taste buds. You can't detect all the small nuances that make complex recipes taste so good on RDAs. Instead you will only taste the base flavor profile. Try using less complex recipes with bold flavors with your pod system.

Likely yes. There’s a few factors; one is the nic salt which mutes complexity, (even for rda usage I won’t use complex recipes for clients wanting nic salt). another is the low wattage; many flavours come out more at higher watts and lastly is the reduced amount of vapour filling your mouth plus restricted air flow.

Pods weren’t around when I quit smoking but I used cigalikes. They were awful and I transitioned to an rda and mod pretty quick. Esp once I started mixing, I made sure to have good set ups ideal for testing.

If you’re gonna stick with a pod I’d suggest searching “pod” in recipes on all the flavors. There’s actually a fair amount. They will have a better chance of working for ya.

I guess I actually use a pod-mod. I use freebase nic, but thanks for the tip on searching "pod". Maybe I'll find something new to try that'll taste good. Part of my problem, I think, is being dumb and buying flavors based on reviews instead of recipes. I did buy a couple orders to complete some recipes I wanted to try, but I may be left with not a ton of recipe options because I have redundant flavors. I dunno. I'm starting to understand some of my flavors so maybe I'll get better at recipe making at some point. I can't buy a new vape right now. My next purchase is a freezer and more nicotine. Too afraid of running out and smoking again.

Thanks buddy for the advice but I'm actually moving FROM an RTA for size and convenience but I may not get my way :)

Hi. If you love desserts, you should consider switching away from a pod device. Desserts (creams, custards, cakes, chocolates, cookies) do not shine in pod systems. Imho, they need more power (wattage) and a bit more heat to develop their full flavor potential. You can’t achieve that with a low wattage pod system. Dessert profiles also tend to kill coils quicker, so you might want to consider a rebuildable tank (RTA) or dripper (RDA). Good luck.

Thanks for the response!!

You'd think so, but I only do MTL at 11-13 on an Innokin Zenith, KFL, etc which is what these pods are about at, so it must just be the POD thing. :) I'm actually switching TO a pod system for weight, size and convenience.

Looks like I have to alter my taste profile. :)

Roughly. I'm still messing with it, although I prefer to use dark star - cerberus dark 1 shot for some extra vanilla cream custard... There is also a recipe for banana foam sweets, And it is amazing. I almost always replace super sweet with cotton candy these days. The marshmallow has to be smooth and me and my boss have no idea of the type of marshmallow we had and haven't found a replacement yet!

I like this simple creme brule recipe for pods:

Buttterscotch Ripple (FW) 6.5%
Caramel (FA) 1.75%
Vanilla Swirl (TPA) 2.5%
