Don't cut onions then mix vape juice. I have been steeping this custard strawberry blend for 3 months. Got it it all nicotined up. I was excited. It tastes great, strawberry on point, custard thick creamy with a hint of egg the way i.like it, oh and the onion back note really stands out. I mixed after cutting onions for like 2 hours for a take out carnival staff appreciation meal at work. We make onion rings, blooming onions, onion petals, and then some onion vape liquid as well. I even showered before I mixed. Ugh... all my flavors pg and vg are fine, I checked them. I smelled like an onion for three days after that day as well. Be careful what you touch before mixing. I should have wore gloves. Onion doesn't vape well...
If you've been dealing with anything like onions in future, before you mix rub your hands with lemon juice, then wash that off with dish soap. That combo gets rid of onion, garlic, and quite a few others from your skin.

There's a metal bar "soap" for this. It's Stainless steel and voodoo. Somehow neutralizes the odors.

vaping right after using hand sanitizer. Alcohol evaporates and gets pulled right into those air flow holes

Smoked foods especially heavily smoked foods. First time I had BBQ I took a bite and then had a hit. Thought I got a burnt hit or something. Was awful and took me a rebuild and rewick to figure out my vape was fine. Now I just vape my dirty tobaccos like a latakia when I'm having smoked foods.
That said I'm not sure how this one works. If you had onion residue on your hands I could definitely see it attaching itself to your wick and giving an off flavor but don't see how mixing like that could impart the flavor in the entire bottle as you're just dripping from one container to another essential. No room for transfer there.
I worked as a cook for a long time at my brothers place through college and med school so I'm very familiar with coming home smelling like X and alliums are especially hard to get off even with SS Soap and other tricks and since I only use Rayon I learned very early to have very clean hands(not even freshly washed with soap) when wicking since it picks up flavors so easily.
I have no clue but I can taste it for sure though. It is there. I am real bad about tipping my bottle and letting it go on my finger and licking it to see if I got it right. The only thing I can figure is I didn't clean my finger nails good enough and the oils and onion smell went in that way. You can't smell it right off bh sticking your nose to the bottle, but after you taste it you can pick up on the smell ever so slightly.
When I mix for myself I don't use the same practices I do as when I mid for a few other people. For me I just shove my finger over the end and tip. I need to stop doing that but it has become a habit over the last 6 years. I haven't mixed the full 6 years but it has been off and on. When I mix for friends I typically don't steep for them and they watch me do it cause I am making them learn! I wear gloves then.

Garlic may be worse. I for a while thought my orings were making my vape taste like rubber. It was from being store in the same tote with a pillbox of gloves. At the time I had these cheap thin plastic bottles thay some had.given. the bottles absorbed the taste
