Free Friday 5-28-21
submitted over 4 years ago by gremlinjuice

Hi everyone! Welcome to Free Friday!! The day that someone gets to win some free stuff from Gremlin (That's Me!) :)

I used to mention to all that this is not a contest or a drawing, but times have changed, and so far the new format has been fun. It is still not officially a contest or a drawing really, but the winner is simply picked at random from the previous weeks post. This means that by commenting here for this weeks post, you are entered for a chance at winning next week! (And so on, and so on)

Last week had the question of favorite brands and there are a lot of really good ones, including TFA, Capella, Flavor West, Wonder Flavors, FlavourArt (I could go on, but we all know the best flavors out there)

Doing a quick random sort and a spin of the mouse gave up this weeks Free Friday recipient.

Congrats to...

u/BuildingVixen

(And the crowd goes wild!)

Be sure to head over to GremberryFarms.com and create an account so I can send you a nice box o' goodies, (and don't forget to let me know in private here what your name is so I can make sure I'm sending to the right person)

THIS weeks question could be interesting to see what you think. White Whales.

Simply put, what flavor are you looking for that you haven't found yet but are still looking for.
For me it is absolutely a candy bar style milk chocolate. Not a tootsie roll, or a chocolate mint, but just a nice creamy Hershey's flavor milk chocolate. I look forward to the day that I can get my hands on that one.

What is yours? Not a clone of a recipe from something you had once, or a recipe that you are looking for to make something, but a certain flavor that you love that you would LOVE to find in a flavoring but just haven't found the right one yet.

Strawberry Rhubarb Pie, Blueberry Pop Tart, Peanut Butter, ???

Peanut Butter or coffee for me; haven't quite found it yet.

I’m guessing you’ve already tried TFA Peanut Butter dx, but if ya haven’t it’s pretty dope. A bit of SSA PB can help with the natural peanut vibe.

Username checks out. Peanut Butter Toast and Coffee is the ultimate breakfast.

Mine has always been Pineapple White Tea. I have not revisited the attempt in a couple of years. But the guys at Keystone Vapor used to make a killer juice.

A good mulled wine. German flavors had one which I didn't think I'd like but turns out I love it. Now I can't get the flavoring anymore so I'm working on making something up.

And pumpkin spice/coffee. I haven't liked any I tried.

Root beer used to be one but I did some research last week and I made up one that I'm trying right now and it seems pretty good so far.

Fitz’s. Sub the vanilla

by Barbarakeover 4 years ago

I've heard good things about FLV root beer. I've been working with FW and TFA's root beers (since I already have them) and added half a percent of Wintergreen (along with some creams for a 'float'). So far I like what I made (but it's only been one day). A hint of vanilla is a good idea, maybe I'll add some.

Why would I sub the vanilla?

Because unless you have the original Holy Vanilla you won’t be able to get it unless you know someone as it’s been discontinued for quite some time. Don’t sub with the v.2. Best options IMO is TFA Vanillla Swirl 2% , INW Shisha Vanilla 1%, or WF Vanilla Cream Extra SC 1.5% and like 0.75% LA Cream Cheese Icing. I personally haven’t tried this but a guy I know says CAP Vanilla Custard 0.5 - 0.7% + TPA French Vanilla Cream 1 - 1.2% is a good HV sub. Whatever Wingergreen you’re using just get rid of that, those notes are in FLV Rootbeer already

I have made about 15 different root beer flavor mixes, they all seem to be just a little off

I'll add a few pumpkins later.

Hmm, looks interesting, especially the grape juice instead of wine. I actually have all the flavors so I'll give it a shot and let you know how it turns out. Thank you.

Edited to add - Ugh, I thought I had everything but I actually had TFA grape CANDY instead of TFA grape. For now, I tried using FW grape. Wish me luck!!

Edited to add (3 days later) - FW grape is definitely not right for this. It smells and tastes like bubble gum. It's not 'bad', just not what I was looking for. Will re-try when I get TFA grape.

I’ve tested most of the Pumpkin Spice flavors. FLV Pumpkin Spice came up at #1, with OSDIY Pumpkin Spice Cream at #2. Apologies if you’ve already tried ‘em.

No I haven't but I have some FLV Pumpkin Spice so I tried smelling it and it smells excellent. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll have to try something with that - maybe just coffee/cream with with some of that pumpkin spice.

Donut. I don’t think I’ve ever had a donut flavor that didn’t either taste burnt or had absolutely no donut in it!

A pistachio flavor. I have yet to try all of them, but the ones I tried really weren't that great.

Sakura, would be fantastic in so many recipes. There's are some cherry blossom flavorings, but they really aren't right.

Seen a couple people already comment this, but my white whale is definitely peanut butter. Still searching for that Holy Trinity (or duo or quadrilogy or...)

A real Strawberry shortcake flavor . I have tried every recipe and stand alone flavor in existence claiming to be Strawberry shortcake ( Except the one Gremlins apparently offered at one time) and none are close.

A really good cotton candy or a fizzy root beer. I haven't attempted the cotton candy one very much, but I have attempted about 15 or so of the root beer recipes and they are all lacking. One day.....

For me is a gummy worms with tropical flavor and ice. One up tropical storm ice is the inspiration…frustration has been the result 😞

Anything chocolate related is my white whale. Would love to nail down a solid chocolate milk shake or chocolate covered strawberry. So far chocolate is very hard to apply to a recipe. I don't want tootsie roll or the dreaded bandaid taste.

CREAM SODA! A good, rich, creamy, fizzy cream soda.

I tried to mix my own a couple of times and failed miserably...

Hint: do not use root beer as a base for cream soda 🤢 root beer and vanilla do NOT go well...

Guarana. It's a plant/fruit, very hard to describe!

Mine is probably a good graham cracker flavor. I've had plenty of great bakery flavors, but I've never had graham cracker that tasted just right.

I dig your recent Friday questions! I’ve been chasing the Sour fruit vibe for a long while. I know that sour flavors don’t translate very well... so I just try to get as close as I can with Tart citrus, tropicals, sour apple, etc.

I'd also like to find Caipirinha it's a Brazilian drink that would do great as a vape flavor. I can only hope that some company makes it some day.
