Just Had a Molar Pulled. Dentist Said No Vaping for 24 hours, I am dying already.
submitted over 4 years ago by [deleted]

So just had a Molar pulled. Dentist said no vaping for 24 hours, absolutely none. I am already fucking dying. I remember smoking after having teeth pulled, but somehow vaping seems like more drawing on it than smoking.

I am a DIY mixer and have 100mg liquid Nic on hand.

Any, and I mean mean any crazy ass suggestions would be appreciated. Thought about dabbing the liquid nic on my skin, just a bit. Even stopped to see about Nicotine patches, but hell they were $55.00 so I did not buy them.

I had a molar pulled and vaped the entire time. Its not the vapor that is the risky part, it is the act of sucking on something that could remove the clot. Even drinking from a straw is a risk, and more risky the thicker the drink, like a milkshake vs water for example.
If your tank is good enough, you dont have to put your lips on it at all and just breathe in the vapor. Otherwise, open your airflow all the way and dont make a complete seal with your lips and you should be fine

This. I've had three teeth pulled and too many root canals and smoked after all of them. Never had any issues at all from it. Just don't completely form a suction with your mouth and don't pull hard and you should be fine.

OP: you could look into nicotine pouches for the short term if you're still worried about vaping at all.

Was the same when i had my wisdoms removed. Just try not to make alot of suction when you inhale and wait as long as possible. I smoked cigarettes then and probably smoked the next day and i was fine. just dont go crazy

Cover with cotton gauze remove as soon as finished. I did this when I smoked the stinkies never had a problem. Or follow your dentist advice .

I also did the, cover with gauze while inhaling trick. It works I guess

I never got dry socket . That's why they say no , smoking vaping straw to drink .

And thanks to you all I tried it. The menthol is kinda hard on the sinuses. :|

I guess it has to do with how desperate you are for nicotine

Just mix some juice down your normal mg and put a few drops under your tongue i do it all the time.

I've vaped through multiple extractions, and actually had a long conversation with my dentist about it.

Main things I took away are, since I already use nicotine, there would likely be no real reduction in healing time vs me not vaping at all, and as long as I used a very open ( no restriction ) DTL setup, that the risk is basically the same as breathing through your mouth ( basically 0 ).

Of course I am not a doctor, and I would say to listen to your personal dentist.

But mine saw no issues with me vaping, and I had no issues. No dry socket.

Yeah I think it's all about how hard the draw is

What the dentist is worried about is the suction pulling the blood clot from the hole where the molar used to be.

I'm not recommending this but I just put my tongue over the hole (so no air/suction touched it) and vaped as normal. Your mileage may vary.

the tongue can actually push air out when creating a seal and cause suction when removing the tongue, best to just cover the hole with cotton or gauze

It's the suction that's the problem. Open your airflow up wide and don't put your lips on it to create a seal when you take a drag. Essentially take a deep breath with the vape near your mouth. I had 4 wisdom teeth pulled and did this from day one without an issue. Definitely rinse a lot though with the warm salt water.

Zyn is a good alternative. No other ingredients besides Nicotine crystals in them. Be a good idea depending how much gauze and whatnot you got in your mouth. Crazy idea but it works. And I hate to dip, but these are different and no grossness imo

I have never heard of it. I did pick up Nicotine lozenges, but not sure about those either. Just Googled Zyn and found a store nearby in case I need to run up there. Thank you.

I recommend the citrus or coffee ones!

I have read about people dipping and sucking on toothpicks. Not with concentrate, though. With diluted/mixed stuff.

I was recently in the exact same situation. I just vaped. Everything still healed up fine for me.

I went our a bought a s.ok stick prince because of how airy the vape is and vaped like a was just breathing lol. I seriously went in the shop with gauze in my mouth and was like I need your vape with the most airflow and your biggest compatible drip tip. Haha everything worked out great. The stick prince still floats around the employees at work switching people from cigarettes to vaping. It gets cleaned of course, probably, at least I clean it when it comes back to me lol

I actually use the Prince, it is my everyday vape. I like them because I can put it in my pocket. So I should be good to go as of today.

It is a great set up. I enjoyed it quite a lot for its simplicity and it gives a quality vape.

I vape through my nose. Can't taste much but the nic comes through.

Yup, that's what I did.

At 1st it is, but I got used to it having gone through 6 months of extractions I got used to it :D

The obvious answer is to vape through one nostril instead.

Seriously though, same experience 6 months ago. I was vaping again before I even made it back to the car, no issues at all.

I've smoked a cigarete a few minutes after wisdom tooth removal surgery. Not my smartest move, but hey, i'm still alive.

When I got my wisdom teeth pulled I was told the same thing. I still vaped though but at a lower wattage and light hits.

I personally never met anyone that got a blood clot after extractions from vaping or smoking so I wasn't to worried about it. I know 1 person that got one but he didn't vape or smoke. So not sure what happened there

I had the same done recently.. vape away, just don't go sucking on it like your trying to get a golf ball through a garden hose.

Cover it with wet cotton gauze while vaping.

2 points

by pointedflowersover 4 years ago

I think that if you mixed something with 12mg or less per mL you could try holding a couple drops under your tongue (subliminally). At 12, each drop would be about a half mg of nic. Or you could spend like the $10 on lozenges. I've used these to get me through before.

Your addiction doesn't care how you ingest the Nic.
Just be careful to not get too much.

I just had dental implants done to replace molars I had pulled. I was vaping by day 3. I went to my follow up and he said I was healing well.

This isn't medial advice or anything.

Damn, a lot of us have had our teeth pulled lol

I would say probably from when we smoked cigarettes. It causes gum disease.

2 points

by xenochrist420over 4 years ago

just wedge some gauze between the gap and vape away, i was smoking a joint not 2 minutes after walking out the dentist office last time i had one pulled.. the reason they say this is because of suction on the blood clot can cause dry socket.. so if you block the socket you cant dislodge the clot

by JColt60over 4 years ago

I had 24 teeth pulled and didn't miss one min of vaping. Just use loose direct lung tank and you should be fine.

Vape through your nose. Can't get dry socket if you bypass your mouth. :P

1 points

by i_am_unikittyover 4 years ago

you do not want to get a dry socket

you can absorb some nicotine through your gums, it's how i take certain pills, let them dissolve in my mouth where you put tobacco dips. maybe get a cotton and soak it with some juice and put it in like a dip

1 points

by Reaprover 4 years ago

I've vaped after a molar removal, but the risk you run of the clot coming out is there.

When the clot comes out they call that a Dry Socket

by Catmandingoover 4 years ago

Mix up a tiny batch of flavorless 25mg/ml and rub it sparingly on your gums

Listen to your dentist. I didnt. It was the worst.

Dude the reason you can’t vape or smoke is the suction action will cause something called dry socket, the sucking literally pulls the blood clot out. Which then the clot won’t form properly aaaand it hurts like a MOTHERFUCKER. Plus then you gotta put this clove mixture on the hole to kill the pain, or that what my dentist gave me, but anyway so then your in throbbing gum-pain hell AND tasting cloves all day n night. Cloves tastes like ass and shit had a baby btw, it’s not worth it IMO. Good news is you can just lick some eliquid, that’s what I do when I can’t vape, I put a drop or two on my tongue and drink some water. Just go easy, like wait a bit see if the drop worked, then if you need more do another drop. Or if you do try it this way just don’t drink a whole ml of 97mg vape juice, unless you enjoy vomiting, it’s just like drinking booze ya gotta be easy and give it time to kick in

Nicotine is a cell poison and inhibits wound healing (cytogenesis). I am in the process of having an implant made and after pulling the tooth no nicotine was allowed to get into the wound for two weeks. The doctor told me nicotine patches were okay. I just vaped without nicotine
