River Supply "bad nic" posts
submitted over 4 years ago by TeslaDelMarI Survived Grack

There have been a number of posts recently on the subject of River Supply's nicotine.

Unfortunately, if you've gotten bad nic from River in the recent past, they will be unable to ship you any replacements.

If your nic is bad, please send them a customer support request instead of posting here about it. There's nothing we can do to help.

Carolina Xtracts is the only recommended vendor shipping inside the US at the moment.

Why only Carolina Extracts? I just got an order from My Freedom Smokes, and they seem to still be shipping as well.

Because not recommended. But in the current state people are using them regardless

Yes, but why?

For the most part because they aren’t even listed in the DIY_ejuice sidebar as a reputable vendor. Don’t ask me why, there’s plenty of dedicated mixers that maintain this sub and there’s a reason why My Freedom Smokes isn’t listed. Also, just from personal experience browsing this sub for the past four years I have not read anything great about their nicotine.

So did you get a batch of nicotine from them? Have you tested it? Is it quality? In this current panic buying frenzy your opinion could really help the sub and others that are struggling to get nic into their freezers 🙂

I just got a large order from them and they’ve always been great. I took a couple years break from making my own juices so I don’t know if much has changed in that time but they used to have great customer service and the quality was always top notch. My latest order doesn’t appear to have any issues and was shipped within 12 hours of ordering.

I've had good experiences with them. I just opened the nicotine I got from them and it doesn't have a smell at all. They're super friendly too. Fast shipping.

Smell doesn't mean anything at all. I got 2 bottles of nic from River, both smelled super nasty & foul. 1 bottle vaped fine/ tasteless & 1 bottle tasted as bad as bad as it smelled when vaped.

Make sure to test your nic before commenting on it's quality pls as smell doesn't mean a thing. Not trying to be rude to you, I'm just seeing so many comments about ppl smelling their nic instead of trying it & want to ensure ppl seeing this know that smell is NOT an indicator of good or bad nic. Let us know how your MFS nic vapes up 😊🤞

I never realized how good I had it with river supply. I need 150 mL of 100mg/mL pg based nic, easy, I find it on the site in 2 seconds and pay like $7... done. Other sites I’ve been looking at, are confusing to navigate, describe their product in language I’m unfamiliar with, and cost 3x as much for less volume.

Nicotine Giant isn’t a recommended vendor either but I believe they’re still shipping if you’re desperate. Received my shipment from them yesterday and it was all good! From South Carolina to San Jose in 2 days.

My nicotine from them was great. Clear. No smell.

Right on! Yeah I’m really happy someone here reviewed them because I never even knew they existed and I was able to re-up just as I finished the last of my supply.

I’ve made several mixes now with my stash from NG. Completely clear, VERY faint earthy smell, barely noticeable if at all in mixes. Grateful I found them through this sub during these trying times.

If you’re on a tight budget and desperate which exact product of nicotine would you suggest from Nicotine Giant?

3 points

by Forever_Nocturnalover 4 years ago

Well that would depend on some things. I got 1 liter of 100mg PG based nic. I would most certainly recommend 100mg PG nic for multiple reasons. It was $65 and about $20 for shipping. It’s going to last me a longgg while and I vape 11mg mtl. The price doesn’t scale too well, I think it’s $15 less for half a liter. So all in with shipping you’re looking at about $65 for 500ml or $85 for 1000ml.

By comparison the same amount from Carolina Xtract was $170 before shipping, not to mention a 3 week processing time lol

Hope that helps!

This one? https://www.nicotinegiant.com/1000-ml-of-100-mg-Flavorless-Nicotine-Liquid-p/134n.htm

Thank you so much for the info.

Has anyone heard anything from them as to what the issue is?

6 points

by revidiaover 4 years ago

The amount of orders they have filled with dark yellow, foul smelling, peppery tasting, obviously bad nicotine, the duration of the problem across the last year, and the failure to provide information on the reason for the issue, together imply that they know they have been selling bad, old, or improperly stored stock, and don't care.

Wow. I’ve been mixing their nic for the past four years now and I’ve been very satisfied. But my last bottle from them was ordered dec 2019. It seems things have changed since then with the covid stuff going on over there

Time to move on to the River Supply "Bad Flavor" posts, lol. But seriously, who would buy from these people anymore?

Their flavors aren't an issue. They've increasingly sold more and more poor nicotine base within the last year though.

> Their flavors aren't an issue.

They're not an issue for me; I vape unflavored. I have used the same nicotine supplier since I started DIY, so River isn't an issue for me there either. Just objectively, as a consumer, having read all the threads on this catastrophe, the company itself is an issue. And it should be, imo.

edit: cut "that's how" from final sentence, for clarity.

I don't really know if it's a catastrophe really. It's quite bad, yes, clearly they were having issues with something in regards to the nicotine base process, but it's really out of their hands now. If they were allowed to still ship the nicotine, I have no doubt they would replace it. It's shitty as hell for the consumers, especially given this situation and people ending up without nicotine, but as I said, River's hands are tied. They can only offer refunds now.

They have had no real issues other than the nicotine problems.

I think it started with the covid stuff, halved their working staff etc. I ordered my last liter from them before the first PMTA scare late November 2019. It’s fine and decanted in my freezer since

I mean right oh, this isn't the first time I've seen River Supply and someone not happy with their company oh, well said well said oh, you are so right time to move on to the river Supply bad flavor posts🤣

Nice. Take care of it, that’s much nic

My gallon was fine too. Wish I would've just bought two gallons instead of one gallon a four liters. Ordered a bunch from nicotine giant too. A liter of regular nicotine and 500mls I think of 250mg salt nic.

Oh lord, now I'm COMPLETELY paranoid. I'm a newbie to DIY, haven't started yet, but got the main supplies first. I bought a 150ml Bottle of 100mg/ml 100% PG PurNic Smooth Salt Nic & then bought 1 Liter. I have no Job or Income. I threw them directly unopened/sealed in the freezer until I get Glass Bottles. I don't want to open the Seals, but now I do...too late for a Refund though. Praying they aren't bad! 🙏😔

They will be fine most likely. Ive gotten nic from them for 7 years and have never had a problem. I understand your fear though. This sucks.

I know that they've gotten mixed Reviews, but just like you said I've heard from MANY people that have had excellent customer service/products from them for many years while others it's like a Russian Roulette, but I think that can happen with any Nic, it just depends on how they store it properly, etc. I was thinking even though I'm new getting it shipped in the cold of winter was a positive rather than when it's freaking humid as hell sitting on a truck, so thank you you're putting my mind more at ease! It does suck... All I can wish for is that Science will win & this will go away, but it will not repair the damage that has already been done. I'm happy to be joining the DIY Community.. everyone that I already know of & the people such as yourself that I've never met are really kind & helpful. I appreciate that more than you know.

Never too late to chargeback on these pricks who clearly scammed everyone on their way out.

I got 2 gallons not too long ago, and they both seem fine. I would be righteously pissed off if those 2 gallons ended up being bad and the company was just "Welp, there is nothing we can do about it. Too bad."

I would hope they are issuing refunds for the bad stuff, if they can't find a way of replacing it.

Ah fuck. Just got my order and haven't opened it yet, and now I'm scared to check lol

This probably won't be of any help, but I've ordered nic from River Supply about 3-4 times over the course of a few years. Last time being in early 2019. Every single time I ordered the Purnic freebase, it was extremely harsh and peppery. Salts were fine though.

I was worried about this as one of my last bottles came from River and was in transit when this problem started happening. But my VG based was just fine. It had an tiny bit of an "earthy" smell but by far not the worst nicotine I've ever used nor what I would consider abnormal. It was clear so no oxidizing yet. I count myself lucky.

by Cocky1976over 4 years ago

Well fuuuuck me, I finally got my vg that nic river forgot in my order with the 100mg pg nicotine and pg. Made a tester of both bottles I got and it's fucking repulsive. It's the same lot number as other people who had issues. It's seriously unvapeable, idk if I'd call it mushroom but it's definitely an earthy, foul taste that makes me wanna puke.

This isn't the first time I've gotten a bad shipment from them, the first was definitely a solvent chemical taste about 2 years ago. They sent me a replacement asap. Now though I guess I'm fucked since they stopped selling nicotine 😭

Hopefully carolina will be ok for my nicotine concentrate to make uhh, lozenges with.

Well I guess I'm lucky. I bought 2 liters of 100mg PG in the past couple months, pre mail ban. Due to all the recent posts, I cracked them open to separate and taste. While they both smell kinda funky, they taste like nothing. I even had my wife taste test with me to be sure. I got nothing and the color is clear. Win for me (for once in my lifetime)

Guess when blue check didn't like my info a year ago I dodged a bullet. Glad I stuck with nude before we voted vaping out of existence.
