Cutting mixes while retaining flavour intensity?
submitted over 4 years ago by ShanSolo89

So I’ve had a batch of eliquid sent to me that was double the nic content I ordered. Decided to keep it and try and cut the mix instead.

My question is, without knowing what the proprietary blend percentage of flavours in the 12 mg I got are, how do I cut it by half nic 6mg but retain the same flavour intensity? Same applies for 18mg to 3mg which is cutting it by 6 times.

I know how to cut mixes by adding vg and/or pg, just not how to get the same intensity of flavour. Is there a simple way to calculate or a rough ballpark percentage to go for? Or is it only possible by trial and error?

Appreciate any advice.

Edit : Thanks for the replies guys. Pretty much what I thought as well. Impossible to do without the actual percentages.

What ballpark percentage should I shoot for? Is 5-10% flavoring normal? I don’t mind something a tad too intense, just not underwhelming since I usually vape at lower wattages.

Doing this without diluting the flavor would not be possible without knowing the exact flavorings/percentages unless you are a magician. You could experiment with adding different flavorings but it definitely won’t be the same and depending on your experience with flavors may ruin it. If you absolutely can’t vape 12 mg your only option is to dilute it or order another bottle of 0mg and mix them together.

Yeah I've done that before, if I don't have another bottle of 0mg to cut it, I cut it with a juice that tastes similar or pairs nicely with it. Makes it a different juice but it's at least vapable.

Thanks. That’s what I assumed and was afraid of. Guess trial and error is going to be the way.

What you’re asking is impossible. If you dilute the nic you will dilute the mix

Yeah, cutting the flavor and maintaining nicotine is easy, but cutting the nic and maintaining flavor requires knowing the exact flavors. Could buy another of the same commercial juice at zero nic if they have it and mix em together 1:1 though.

Impossible unless you know the recipe. You can make a similar mix if you want, but it won't be the same.

You’d have more luck finding a few good recipes, ordering flavors and mixing them up up with your desired nicotine strength. There’s no way to do what you are asking without the exact recipe. It’s better to mix your own juices so you can control it and switch it up whenever you please. There’s plenty of beginners info in the side bar to get you started if interested.

Edit Question-Total flavor percentages doesn’t really matter. What matters is that you find a fairly recent recipe that has good reviews and you follow it exactly, down to the brand of flavors. Flavor percentages can wildly vary. 🖤

I’m still cutting not doing it from scratch so following a recipe is going to be hard especially since I don’t know the base flavor percentage.

I’m trying to estimate how much flavor to add for every half dilution. Just tried with 3% and it doesn’t seem to be enough.
