Is anyone familiar with this flavor?? I bought it before I knew better and I think I thought it would be the same as TFA Ethyl Maltol… now I’m not so sure… because percentages and all that. if anyone wants to help me out with a yes/no I’d appreciate it! Hate to waste it but I’ll order the thing I need if I need to! Thanks!
Hi. I‘ve seen it used at 0,5-1,5%. But I wouldn’t use it. Ethyl maltol is known to mute flavors, not enhance them. TFA Sweetener is also mainly Ethyl maltol and mutes flavors. If you are coming off of commercial liquids, you‘ll need some sweetener starting out with DIY. CAP Super Sweet is what is most used in commercial liquid (It‘s sucralose, citric acid, water and preservatives). Because of the citric acid, it’s excellent for fruit mixes (makes them „pop“ and gives you sugar lips). It‘s very strong, I use it at 0.25%, commercial at about 2%. Maybe start at 0.5%, you can always add more late, sweetener doesn’t need a steep, just shake it well. Then there’s FW Sweetener, which is just sucralose. This one is great for desserts, cakes, creams and all that yummy stuff. It’s weaker than CAP Super Sweet. 1% FW Sweetener amounts to around 0.5% CAP Super Sweet. Both CAP and FW come in handy as tools. Most of us, who have been DIYing for a while hardly need sweetener anymore. Some recipes I‘ll mix without. Te nice thing with DIY is that you can reduce everything in minute increments, like going from 6mg nicotine to 5.5mg or 1% CAP Super Sweet to 0.75%. You‘re in control and your taste will adjust quickly. Good luck.
This is a ethyl maltol based flavor. Primarily it is a sweetener additive. Named as a flavor enhancer as it does a great job at boosting “thickness”. Good for desserts and more!
