Question on storing pv/vg 3%
submitted over 4 years ago by Paddorg

Sorry if this was asked but I just looked and didn't seem to see exactly this question. I bought for gallons of pv/vg with 3% nicotine from LNW along with a ton of flavors. Can I keep the white plastic containers of pv/vg 3% in my dark cool basement or does it need to be in the freezer? I'm hoping it lasts two years. The white plastic containers are sealed under the cap. Also the flavors, what's the best way to keep them from going bad? Thanks in advance!

On a side note these new mail laws suck. I smoked almost 2 packs of cancer sticks for forty years. Five years ago I tried a friend's vape and it was awesome. A week later I bought my first vape and since have never touched another cancer stick. I feel like a new man now, full of energy and taste is back better then I can remember. It angers me the power that cigarette companies have over the politicians. Vaping should be sold as stop smoking products. I'm proof along with millions of you guys on here!

First of all I don’t even see 3% nicotine on the site. 3% nicotine is 30mg/ml and I don’t see that on the site either. I’ve never heard of 30mg/ml so I’m going to assume you meant 3mg/ml, or 0.3% nicotine. 2nd, you purchased the wrong nicotine. You should have purchased 100mg/ml. Now you have four gallons (15141ml) of 3mg/ml you have to fit into your freezer. 1/2 liter (454ml) of 100mg/ml is basically the same strength as what you purchased.

Nicotine needs to be decanted into glass with polycone caps and stored in the freezer for optimal storage. Oxygen still permeates HDPE and PET bottles. Glass is the best barrier.

I recommend:

15 X 32oz (14 liters)

1 X 16oz (500ml)

3 X 4oz (360ml)

2 X 2oz (120ml)

1 X dropper cap for working bottle (2oz size)

Flavors can go in a cool dark place for storage along with any PG + VG

Is there a good place that sells those storage items you can think of off hand?

I have bought premixed PG/VG and NIC too (mine is 6mg), so for those of us that have already bought some (I have also already bought PG, VG and NIC separately) does the premixed need to be in a freezer with the amber bottles?

if you bought 3mg/ml you will never have a 3mg final mix. All is not lost, though. It's not like you won't be able to vape it if it's 2.5mg instead of 3.

Although... if you bought flavors at random and not based on popular recipes that fit your tastes... you're likely to have a lot of unvapeable garbage.

since you have so much you might as well experiment with storing some long term in a cool dry place vs a frozen environment. a 120ml sample wouldn't hurt.

I here you !!! I just made a large purchase of pure VG, pure PG and 100 mg nicotine myself. Also I purchased a nice durable mod. Until our mighty fearless leaders see again that prohibition does not work...law abiding ex-smokers now have to find other avenues. I too was a two a day smoker. Vaping Saves Lives!!!

Thanks for the replies! So I did mean 3mg which I thought was 3%, sorry for any confusion! I have been mixing with this for a year or so and realize after mixing it's not 3 but more like 2.5 or something. I bought a bunch of flavors to make canoli, lemon cookie and blue raspberry. I don't really measure exactly, just get it close. I don't have the patience to be perfect. Kinda like a chef who just uses a pinch of this and a pinch of that. I always like the way it turns out so I guess it works right! From all the replies I guess I have to freeze it to make it last. If I didn't switch everything over to brown bottles will it go bad in plastic? I'm hoping to make it last two years. So if it will go bad can one of you please point me where to get the bottles please. I also realize I should have bought the pv/vg and nicotine separate but I've never done it that was so I was not wanting to learn something new. LNW use to cell 3mg but I see now it's not. Maybe I bought them out! JK. Here's where it was located at LNW

Thank you so much for all the replies, sorry it took long to reply but I was working today and couldn't check out the site.

These are just a few places but there are many more if you look. You will have to decide how you want to decant. I gave you an example in my previous post. For me, since I only vape 2.5mg and only vape about 5ml a day, and I use 100mg/ml, my one 1oz working bottle with a dropper cap lasts me 7 months.

Dropper caps

This will be your working bottle that stays out in a cool dark place at your work station. All other bottles go in the freezer. So I‘m only getting new bottles from the freezer every half year. For you, a 1oz working bottle may only last a week so you may want to consider a 120ml working bottle, it’s really up to you

You should have bought 100 mg/ml nic.

Nic should be decanted in amber glass bottles, sealed with polycone caps topped off with argon. This is covered in the info within the FAQ.

What flavors did you buy? I hope you didn't buy random flavors because they sound good. Those are fine left out. Keep away from heat and light.

As Kuri and Ed pointed out it's best to purchase 100mg/ml nicotine vs a 3mg premixed base. Also store it amber bottles, polycone caps, and argon in the freezer. Also purchase vg and pg separately and store at room temp.

You can go your route but it takes up way more freezer space and you'll never get a 3mg recipe with what you've purchased. Say it's a 3mg 70/30 premixed base. After adding flavoring from 6-20% depending on the recipe, this will dilute your vg side of the mix and also dilute your nicotine strength the more flavoring you use. So you'll end up with a final recipe in the area around 2.5mg and 60/40 to 50/50. If you purchased 100mg/ml and separate vg and pg, you could mix the exactly nic mg and vg/pg ratio your targeting.
