1,3-propanediol (PDO) subjetive comparison to 1,2-propanediol (PG)
submitted over 4 years ago by beeblebrox0042

Hi, you are you doing?

I was a light smoker (1-3 cigs a day) and about a month ago I switched to vaping.

I chose to vape flavorless 70/30 juice with 1mg/ml nic.

I've been using the Vaporesso Cascade One Plus, which is a stick type kit with the Cascade Baby tank. The 0.18 ohm gt mesh coil is the one I chose.

After about a week, I've noticed irritation, dry mouth, and a bit of a sore throat after using it for a while (mostly after chain vaping).

After some research, I've found 1,3-propanediol (PDO) could be a safer alternative to mitigate undesired side effects of 1,2-propanediol (PG) sensitivity, which matched some of the above observations.

I got my hands on some ZEMEA USP grade PDO here in Brazil, some bi-distilled VG and freebase 100VG 100mg/ml nic.

I then produced 70VG/30PDO 1mg flavorless juice, and these are my subjective impressions:

  • The undesired irritation is pretty much gone

  • Viscosity is about the same. Cloud production as well.

  • Pure 70VG/30PDO 1mg has a bit of a salty taste when compared to 70VG/30PG 1mg, which is sweetish

  • The nicotine throat hit is pretty close, I'd even say it's a little bit stronger on 70VG/30PDO, but I could be wrong

Tl;dr

Overall, a much more enjoyable vaping experience for me out of PDO than PG

Nice, always wondered what the subjective difference would be. Thanks :)

I've been using PDO for 3 years at the same ratio - for those of us who are PG sensitive (it triggers light asthma for me, PDO doesn't), it's great.

I've found it to be ever so slightly sweeter, but not in a bad way.

Where are you able to purchase it?

I've just bought the making cosmetics brand on Amazon.

It's lab tested 99.98% pure, corn sugar derived (as opposed to petroleum).
