So as most might be aware there are certain flavours that certain people are considered 'blind' to, for me I cannot vape custards, shortfills, one shots & even diy mixes with any amount of custard in just taste like shite unfortunately
Most would just write custards off after trying x amount of it but I am determined to find a way for me to enjoy a flavour that ordinarily I love, I will put custard on pretty much anything & enjoy it so to be unable to enjoy it as a vape is unacceptable to me
That said, has anyone managed to cure flavour blindness? Can it be done? Is there just something I am missing to make sweet custardy flavours sing in my mouth?
I am humbly requesting any & all advice from the DIY gurus of this sub to assist me in my quest, is there a specific brand I could use? Do I need to mix a low percent & work up? Who knows? I don't but I'm hoping one of you might so please impart upon me your wisdoms oh great ones & help me find the holy grail of custards
Go to ATF. Look for King Bling, custard now loaded, and custard cracked. 3 very different custards with different custard flavorings. Give those a try.
I may need more company info because I doubt the bereau of alcohol, tobacco, firearms & explosives make very good juice
Tasting like crap, and being flavor blind are a bit different. What kind of off notes are you getting? What custards have you tried? Do any of them get better after a long steep?
I've tried too many to list if I'm honest, I've got one in my cupboard that's had about a year steeping so I might crack that out & see if the steep helps at all
Off note wise, peppery, at first I thought my nic had gone off but it was only the custard profiles that had it
Hi. Which custard recipes have you tried? (brand, flavors, %) How long did they steep and how do you steep? Are you mixing be volume, weight or drops?
I've tried most of the one shot flavours & several diy flavours, I couldn't list them all off the top of my head unfortunately, I mix DIY by weight & gave any custards at least 3 months steep, shaking twice for the first 2 days then just left in a dark cupboard until I'm ready to try them
I see. I have 2 recommendations for you, both custards do not need a steep, but get a bit better over a few days. They are SNV directly after mixing. Custard Now and Custard Now, Loaded. Try them and see if they get along with you. Maybe custard just isn’t your profile though. Like I don’t enjoy menthol, bleeh.
I know several mixers, who vape profiles they do not like as food, but enjoy as vapes and vice versa. This could be the case.
What exactly do you find off putting? I mean the are so many variations and types. Eggy custards, buttery custards, vanilla custards, more generic custards, rich, thick, thin ... There‘s also the vanilla pudding route using FLV Vanilla Pudding or CNV Vanilla Pudding. Maybe that would be a good alternative. Or adding a touch of cheesecake to a custard. I‘m sure you’ll find something tasty.
One more question though. What are you vaping the custards in? Custards and bakeries prefer somewhat higher temperature/wattage to fully bloom. They don’t really shine in pods or with mesh coils.

I'm worried you may be right but I want to enjoy custards so badly
I usually find them to be peppery or, I don't really know how to explain it, thick? Like it leaves a weird coating in your mouth that just doesn't taste right
I've tried custards at all stages from mtl to paraseries though I am back to restricted direct lung now so I may be past the stage where I would enjoy the full flavour profiles anyway
I'll hop onto the discord when I'm at my laptop tonight thank you :)
Give this a go: Darkstar Cerberus. There's custard in it but it's not the star of the show so you won't be too disappointed if you can't taste it. You get that thick custard-y mouth feel though. I don't bother with sweetener because it is massively sweet as-is. Super more-ish.
Try Custard Prem by "flavour creative" from chef's- it is the premium custard from FA rebranded and is awesome. INW is another good custard (more eggy) that doesn't need massive steeping. Hopefully you will find one you can taste.
