How i made SBnC of the year
submitted over 4 years ago by Elemntion

I want to give a mad shout out to u/Cheebasteeba. It was his Sweet Strawberry Cream that got me into making my own recipes and strawberry profiles.

Creamy Strawberry v1

I loved the original and thought I could change it to suit my own tastes. On the original recipe, I was getting some pepper from the TFA VBIC and the LA CCI did not have the taste I was looking for. I decided to take out those two flavors and replace them with TFA Bav Cream and INW Custard. I also added meringue because I was just starting out and I wanted to add the sweetness from it. I took FA Strawberry and TFA Strawberry Ripe out and decided to throw in CNV Strawberry, which was a new flavor at the time, and Cap Sweet Strawberry because they mix well together. I liked where it was at this point but it just lacked oomph, ya know?

I sent it in to u/ENYAWRECKLAW's midweek critique and he liked the strawberry and thought the cream could use work. I went back to the drawing board for the creams and decided to switch TFA Bav Cream for TFA French Vanilla Deluxe. I also added CNV Vanilla pudding because it had become a favorite of mine in other recipes. I submitted the new mix and waited.

Creamy Strawberry V2

Wayne liked this one much better! It netted a solid 4 and the only gripes he had was that the vanilla was muting a bit and I agreed. The strawberries in this just work together to make a gummy sticky strawberry and that is exactly what I was going for. The creams were where I was tripping up but I liked it at the time.

Creamy Strawberry - Final Version

After sitting on this recipe for a while, I went back to it with everything I had learned and simplified it some. The TFA French Vanilla Deluxe has been removed as it was muting. INW Custard and the CNV Vanilla Pudding have both been upped. They can stand on their own without the support of TFA French Vanilla Deluxe. The simplification has made this recipe more solid and brings out all the flavors I'm looking for. It can be found here: Creamy Strawberry.

Thank you to u/isuamadog for bribing me into making this post for #Tuesday Tutorial

Sanctum is that you? Your v2 has been in my rotation for a while now, with a few tweaks to suit my own tastes, it has been - and still is - the best SBnC recipe I've had, period. I don't know if you remember, but i just had to reach out to you on the discord to let you know how awesome i think the recipe is. I had almost given up on the SBnC profile, but your hard work just hit the spot for me. Thanks again man, very much appreciated! I will of course mix the latest version up ASAP, this got me all giddy on a Tuesday!

Hehe yea that's right, I'm the dude who added some lemon to it 😅 i liked it A LOT, ADV material for me, and I'm kinda picky/lose interest pretty fast, so that's something. Thanks again man, mixing a tester of the latest version as I'm writing this.

Thank you so much for sharing. I look forward to next month's Premcake development notes... or whatever you decide to share :)

But seriously, we rarely get to see the work that goes into a recipe as well as ways to get feedback when it is kind of hard to get people to try your stuff when everyone is Doing It Themselves. I love the way you trace the path from inspiration to experimentation, feedback and then revisions. And, finally, some recognition. Congrats on the nod from wayne and I hope that people looking for a SBnC find it in that mix. :)
