Any subs for OOO Cream Milky Undertone...?
submitted over 4 years ago by sabsmi37

Hi guys! Total noob here, mixed maybe three or four recipes so far so be gentle lol. My wife wants a vanilla Chai Tea latte and I found a recipe, but I'm missing the OOO flavoring. I have vanilla bean ice cream, and I've seen some things about using it for a vanilla, creamy base. Just curious if anyone thinks something like this would come close in subbing the OOO flavor my recipe calls for. It's a simple one, 1% black tea, 2% Chai Tea, 2% OOO cream milky, 2% milk and honey, and 0.3% Shisha vanilla.

If a recipe requires 1.5% oooCreamy Milky Undertone, what is the equivalent if using FLV cream or FA Cream Fresh?

1.25% should suffice

Which Vanilla Bean Ice Cream? But no, I can't imagine any of them will taste like Cream (Milky Undertone)...

Which chai are you using? Some of them are really bad or just too tanin heavy. That would change which dairy/cream base I’d suggest you use. Ie: if the chai is strong/heavy on spice and/or tanins a heavier cream like VBIC would be ok. But I’d take out the vanilla shisha if you use a vanilla cream. Maybe use holy vanilla instead if you have it, at low levels (1%) it gives a pretty good milk base but still needs some back up. I like it with 1.25% flv sweet cream, 1% fa Vienna cream, 1% fa cream fresh and tpa bavarian cream for a nice rich and sweet milk base that you can top with some pretty heavy spices without loosing either. TPA marshmallow also does a great job in lattes since it helps round off the sharp edges of the spices. Just don’t go too high or it will muddle the flavour. I realize you probably don’t have most of those flavours yet but I figured I’d mention it for future consideration if you’re going to mixing this profile often.

Good ones to have for chai latte mixes are also flv rich cinnamon and flv vanilla bean.

If you tell me which brand chai and tea you have and let me know all the dairy/cream/custard based flavours you have I can suggest further...

The Chai Tea I have is TFA. Then I have LB Vanilla ice cream and TFA vanilla bean ice cream..... I also have Flavorah vanilla custard, cream, FW Bavarian cream and sweet cream.... Was hoping something might work. Need brownie points from the wife! 😂

Uh oh whatdya do that you need brownie points? 😉
Ok first off, TFA chai is not great just FYI. Have you done a single flavour test? Far as outright chai mixes ive yet to find one I’m totally content with. Though with chai drinks I’m def overly picky. I make mine with arvindas small batch roasted chai masala spice in with black tea and cream. Soooo good. Been trying to replicate that in an ejuice for years. Would help to ask your wife how she likes her chai. Cardamom forward? Clove forward? With anise or not. So many different ways to do chai dep of country of origin.
I actually found the recipe you’re talking about. I assume you have FLV black tea then? Right track there. FLV does teas and spices better than anyone. Actually their tai chai may be one you’d like. Also worth considering is FLV horchata, good spice notes with some creaminess. Missing cardamom and clove tho.
Stixx mix is another company worth checking. All naturally derived and does decent tea and coffee. They have a very good chai tho too dark for my taste and honestly till now i forgot that I was working on creaming that up lol. INW chai shisha is decent as well tho very strong! And CAP chai is decent tho light on spice IMO.

Far as working with what you have now, I’d suggest using sweet cream at the same %ge. You already have some milk note from the milk and honey so that should be enough but If it needs more creamy or body, add 1-2% of LB vic. I don’t know how good of a chai you’ll get from this tbh just b/c of the TFA chai but give it a go. My palate is different so...
That said, if it’s a profile you really wanna perfect, I’d suggest building it from scratch. FLV black tea, cream, rich cinnamon, clove, ginger, vanilla bean, FA cardamom.... (FA anise and black pepper if you want that), VT golden syrup or raw sugar would all be good building blocks. Maybe even some VT milk froth or milk base.
I still toss about 80% of my mixes lol, don’t be worried if you don’t get it the 1st time. Or the 25th. Start with a small amt like 10 ml tester and adjust as needed. I can’t stress enough doing single flavour tests tho so you know what is off in a mix. I buy 15 ml plastic test tubes and a rack for doing sample mixing.

Lastly, noted episodes are your friend! Saved me buying so many bad flavours when I first started. Look for the more recent ones since they have newer flavours added. https://diyordievaping.com/2019/01/29/tea-time-ft-rin-vapes-🍵-noted-ep-83/

This ep is missing quite a few tea flavours... Maybe they have a newer one idk. Hopefully that’s not an overwhelming amt of info!

Haha I'm a good wife, so I don't need the points but it never hurts to bank some for a rainy day! I might piss her off at some point and need them 😂

Thanks for the detailed reply. I'll definitely take it all in and try to use it in my diy education!

Sorry just noticed you said you have FLV cream. Def go with that then. For sure the best IMO! Or even a mix of that and sweet cream. 1-2% should do it.

If you have FA milk go for that, but I would guess you might not since it's harder to source. Really depends on which ice cream you have. If it's liquid barn you could try that, but if it's something like tpa there's a chance it could get too spicy with the vanilla. Seems to me like the next best sub would be a good flv cream, it's a bit heavier but would do what you want it to do in the recipe.

Looking at the recipe the ooo is used to emulate the latte (milk) part of the recipe.maybe try fa meringue at 1%.to me at least, its More of a sweet milk flavor.you could add vbic but it surely won't be like the creator intented to
