QUICKDRAW! a bourbon and peach infused custard.
submitted over 4 years ago by xGRANITExSilky

Sup guys. It's been a long year and I've got a gang of recipes. Sorry for the ghost mode, I've been focused on earning a masters degree - exhausting.

Anyway.

I want to release some of the recipes I've been mixing this past pandemic, as I've got a few bangers that I'm sure y'all will enjoy. Lot's of new flavorings have broadened my horizons and unleashed a cascade of possibilities.

Lets start it off with a custard - we all know I like custards, in fact, I almost exclusively vape custards and bakery type juices. This one is no different. BUT - I have tackled a fruit addition that I rarely play with, the peach. I have a love-hate relationship with peaches, and it's certainly not a balanced one. Mostly I don't like them, but I have found a way to make this fruit tolerable - dare I say remarkable? For whatever reason my brain remains in a state of disdain for the peach, but my flavor receptacles crave this juice. It's been very tasty, and a constant in my rotation.

Quickdraw Custard

|Flavor Co.|Flavor|%| |:-|:-|:-| |FA|Custard Premium|3| |TFA|Vanilla Custard II|2.25| |WF|Aged Bourbon Cream|1.5| |FLV|Milk & Honey|0.5| |JF|Honey Peach|1.25| |FLV|Peach|1.5|

Total 10%. 7-14 Day Steep.

Cowboys drank a lot in saloons, especially beer and bourbon.

What did they eat?

Everyone needs something sweet from time to time, and cowboys were no different. Canned peaches were a staple.

Naturally, when developing this recipe, Clint Eastwood suggested I pair bourbon with peaches. The canned variety.

Peach block. Let's get it. I started with FLV Peach because to me, this is a very delicious and middle ground peach. It reads to me as syrupy and sweet, borderline artificial. This was a great place to start for some gloopy peach love. It's totally canned peaches. I brought a touch of JF Honey Peach to the party to bring some liveliness, juiciness, and to make those thangs taste extra ripe. Almost like the peaches were chopped and put into a cast iron with sugar and water right before the induction into a luscious custard. These two together worked just fine, and would satisfy any man or woman of the western frontier.

Custard Block. Normally I try to make the base and addition of creams a little fancier, but I didn't want to distract too much from bourbon and peaches. The combination of FA Custard Premium and the new TFA Vanilla Custard 2 work just fine as our canvas. The premium brings richness, eggyness, a touch of vanilla, and a grip of butter. The vanilla custard from TPA bring depth, as it has got some great body and the vanilla is of the French variety, furthering the brightness and top notes of the vape. These two in conjunction bring a thick and bright vanilla custard, with a milky cream finish.

BOURBON. I have been playing with WF Aged Bourbon Cream lately and I will say that I am impressed. We have tons of options with bourbons, all varieties have their place, but I find that this one ticks all of the boxes needed for this vape. It's got some bite and also that subtle vanilla and lingering caramel-like sweetness we associate with the smoky barrel. The cream from this concentrate sits on the back end, but it furthers our cream blend and the bourbon seamless weaves its way into the custard.

Lastly I added something to bind it all. It's weird, I'm also not fond of this favor, except for specific applications. FLV Milk & Honey. This shit has some dark sweetness. Its not quite milk, and not quite honey. But what it does taste like is almost like molasses, at least to me. Molasses is basically a synonym for the Wild West I'm pretty sure. This dark sweetness with a creamy like body (but no dairy) plays well in contrast to the brightness of the vanilla and helps achieve completion for this recipe.

And there you have it. A custard I've been vaping lately.

A bourbon infused peach custard, approved and touted as the most wild in the west, by Clint Eastwood himself.

more recipes to come soon...

Looks delicious and I'm looking forward to trying this one after I pick up FLV Peach and WF Aged Bourbon Cream. Tonight I've been trying RF Aged Bourbon Cream for the first time in my shot at a Whiskey Eggnog. It seems pretty good but I don't have the WF one yet.

I've played with that profile.

I had success using FLV Eggnog decently high + a custard for more body and cream, and then a combo of VT/FLV Bourbon and TFA Kentucky Bourbon.

Thanks for the tip. That's what I'm doing but with FA Whiskey which isn't that great. The peat and booze just doesn't come across on the vape with that one.

FLV 0.75

VT 0.75

I didn’t have the peaches, but was curious as to what the custard base would be like on its own, so...I mixed it. I really like it! It’s got me wondering what other fruits might work in here. Maybe the old TFA/FA Pear combo, maybe some combo of strawberries (JF Sweet and TFA Ripe?), maybe blueberry. Pretty versatile! Thanks for putting this together.

Awesome! Let me know how it goes. Originally I played with strawberries, it works :)

This looks wonderful. I have to give this a shot... I just don't know how I feel about that image. It looks like a potato stew.

Thanks! Changed picture to alleviate the starchy imposition.

This is not a combination I would have thought of myself but it looks good. I especially like the JF Honey Peach as an ingredient. Wonderful flavor, my favorite peach. I've tried it with TFA's Juice Peach and I'll probably use that again (since I don't have any FLV peach).

You should definitely pick up FLV peach. It's amazing in so many applications.

At this point, I have to use up some of the shelves and shelves of flavors I already have, LOL

Sup Silky, not a huge fan of whiskey so might give this one a miss...but now I'm done being rude, a couple your mixes are among my personal all time fav's, so have a couple of questions if you don't mind!

Blue Jasmine - any reason for not publishing on ATF? I've been mixing this for years and don't think it got enough love! https://www.reddit.com/r/DIY_eJuice/comments/81ae11/march_2018_recipe_thread/dv1pmxl/

Dunked Apples - how do/would you mix this today, HHG v2, JF RY4, or other?

Cheers, and looking forward to the next one :)

Honestly I forgot about blue jasmine! Glad you've been enjoying it! I'm going to put it up, and possibly revisit it for tweaks. Any suggestions?

And as far as dunked apples, thankfully I have a grip of hhg v1. It's honestly the only ry4 I've ever tried. Maybe you should play around with it and let me know what works? I've always wondef about jf ry4 as I've heard it's good.

Cheers!

Honestly, I wouldn't change a thing with Blue Jasmine, HS + FW blueberry is great, esp. with the lemon, and the jasmine notes make it unique.

I last made Dunked Apples with HHGv2 and it was good, but just missing a little something, so I'll try JF next time....really regret not stocking up on the OG HHG at the time!!
