Koolada not giving a cooling feeling
submitted over 4 years ago by DippySwitch

Hey guys so I’m using a low wattage device (Smok Nfix, goes up to 25w), and I’m trying to make an iced mango. I got some Cush man salts and some Koolada flavoring, and in the 3ml pod I mixed around 2ml of Cush man with 1ml of Koolada. I tried vaping it from 10w to 20w and no matter what, I don’t get a cooling sensation at all - it just tastes like a warm mango. Delicious, but warm without any sort of “cooling” feeling.

I’ve read elsewhere that just a drop of Koolada is all it takes, and I mixed a whole ml in and it doesn’t seem to make a difference. I was trying to get a blizzard in my mouth feeling...

Is it just an issue with wattage. Does Koolada not priced a cooling feeling unless it’s at high wattage?

In a 3ml batch, 1ml Koolada is like 30% coolants which is insane. 1% would be acceptable. If you’re using drops I’d say that’s about one drop, or 0.03g. 1ml like you say is like 45 drops. Stop that.

Also, Koolada sucks. Get WS-23 for ice. One drop per 10ml

Yeah it seems like a lot but like I said, I’m not getting the cooling effect - maybe a very slight bit on the exhale, but barely noticeable. So I’m wondering if it’s a wattage issue.

I ordered some ws23 and polar ice to try instead - I just though Koolada was the go-to flavor to make something icy cold.

More flavor does not equal more flavor. It does the opposite, actually.

Ws-23 is actually the go-to. Koolada can mute other flavors and can bring a bitter chemical taste along for the ride.

Also, mileage may vary when adding to commercial juice. It may not work, not knowing the percentages the juice is using.

+1 to what u/EdibleMalfunction said. There is not a linear relationship between flavor percentage and the strength of the flavor, and 30% is an insane percentage to mix anything at.

I always hated koolada when i tried to use it. i couldn't get over this weird acrid taste that came with it.

Koolada is more for a gentle, slightly cool effect - it's not for "icy cold." I use koolada in some of my soda mixes at 1% and it gives the hint of cool that I want without any odd flavors, however it's just that - a hint. Also, 30% is insane for almost any flavoring and will cause that flavor to be either muted or taste nothing like you'd expect them to.

Go for something menthol-heavy if you want something super cold.

I never had luck with koolada. I always just use ws23. But only at 2% at 60ml batches. Tried 5% my first diy with no flavor all coolant

Yall menthol heads are crazy lol. I put one drop of ws-23 or koolada in a mix, and Im shitting colgate for a week. Y'all have too much menthol tolerance.

That’s the crazy thing, I haven’t vaped a menthol juice for years, other than Juul mint pods. That’s why I’m confused as to how a 30% Koolada mix is barely giving me any cooling feeling at all.

Koolada is not menthol. Menthol is menthol.

Damn, I run 1% WS-23 in my "cool" vapes and feel like that's not enough most of the time.

Yeah, I run 2% ws23, along with 1.5% fw menthol in my strawberry menthol for mtl lol

Koolada is pretty light cooling in general, 30% may also be overkill which could be muting the cooling. Try using less like 5% if no luck get some ws23

Generally cooling agents are meant to work when they are used in a certain ratio, they may not work as well when you use so much, as counterintuitive as that seems.

Koolada is also not too intense from what I’ve heard, that’s actually why I have it coming in my next order as opposed to something like WS-23 (not a huge menthol fan).

I use koolada in one of my grape mixes, does just fine for me at around .5%

Whatever you do...do NOT try this with WS-23. Reddit search this post : "I'm an idiot. Don't be like me." This is an absolutely hilarious, while empathetically painful at the same time post about a guy who put a single solitary drop on his tongue. It's from 4 years ago and it's like still highly read. The raw humility is awesome and hopefuy saves most of us ice chasers from doing the exact same thing!

It needs like a week of steeping. You won't feel much before that.
