Hey guys,
I have just realised that I hadn't posted the notes for last week. Not sure how that happened- I could have sworn I had. Anyway, here they are now.
Notes for previous episodes (along with a ton of other info and resources) are available at Flavor Facts, https://link.diyejuice.org/Facts000

Cheers guys!
PART 1:
Noted Ep. 189: SHERBET AND SORBET
(Episode aired 9th February 2021)
Sorbet vs sherbet (US definition) - sorbet is more pureed fruit with shaved ice. There's no cream. Sherbet is basically sorbet, but with milk added to it. Has a creamy consistency and is a lot like ice cream. But not quite as creamy as ice cream as doesn't have the heavy cream. Also never has eggs. Sherbet (UK/AUS definition) - a powdery candy thats something a bit like pixie stix. Often fizzy.
(Ranked from worst to first)
CC (Chefs Choice) Lemon Sherbet: Don't know for sure that it isn't safe to vape, but doesn't taste like it's safe to vape. Tastes greasy. Tastes kind of like lemon flavoured powdered sugar. Not fizzy. A bit Pledge-y with a yucky, greasy aftertaste. Like powdered lemon candy with pledge and old fryer grease. Greasiness lingered so badly that ID10-T had to change the coil, couldn't just re-wick.
9.04
Bickford Rainbow Sherbet: Has a lingering greasy feel and oily taste, nowhere near as bad as CC Lemon Sherbet does. Didn't ruin the coil like CC. But tasted like oil. Besides that there's not a whole lot of flavour to it. Some indistinct citrus. Not creamy, just greasy. Also a little harsh. ID10-T tested at 4%
11.31
TFA Rainbow Sherbet: More present and top note forward than many others tried this week. But to the point of being harsh. The finish is chalky and powdery, a bit like Flintstone's vitamins. Too harsh and too bright. No creaminess or middle notes at all. Fluffy texture, like whipped cream from an aerosol can. Citrus note isn't the right citrus for rainbow sherbet. Sam got cardboard-y note. Sam tested at 5%
13.08
PUR Toasted Coconut Mango Sherbet: Not really nasty, but not accurate to the name. Like tropical jam on coconut toast. Nothing that suggests sherbet. Not creamy. Has some tartness. Coconut is artificial and kind of sun tan lotion-y. The mango is a bit jammy and subdued. Also not very authentic, more like a peach banana than mango. Wouldn't have known it was mango if it didn't say it was on the bottle. Hint of citrus. The toasted note and the coconut are separate from each other. Makes it taste like a piece of toast sitting on top of peach/banana jam and then get artificial coconut that lingers on the finish. Aftertaste really lingers for a long time. Overall it's really weird.
14.53
PUR Toasted Coconut Cheesecake isn't a particularly good cheesecake, but does have a really great toasted coconut note.
OOO Mango Sorbet: Really expensive on DIY Vapor Supply, which is the only place that stocks it in the US (around $9 for 10ml). All OOO sorbet flavours are the same price. It is very concentrated. But doesn't taste very good. Has an identifiable mango note that is kind of subdued and sweet, a little soft. Has some thickness. But no cooling or anything else to suggest that it's a sorbet. Also has dish soap off note.
18.33
VT Sorbet Base: Melon with a bold minty finish. Spearmint. Not cool in the way WS23 is, but has some minty cool-ness. Weirdly juicy. Might work as a base for something like a mojito. Melon body. Not a specific melon, like a blend of watermelon, cantaloupe with the juiciness of honeydew. Not unpleasant at all. But not what you'd expect from the name. Not a sorbet. Would be good in a melon mint recipe. FW Cucumber Mint is the closest flavour to it that Emily and ID10-T had tried. Not identical, just share the most similarities. Might go well together? Although there's already a lot of mint. Might not want to add more? FLV Wild Melon would work well to bump up the melon. The melon tastes a bit like FLV WM already. Maybe with FLV Peppermint to make it colder? Although it would taste peppermint-y. Or some WS23 or FA Polar Blast to add cooling? Emily, Sam and ID10-T tested at 2%
23.31
FW Rainbow Sherbet: CONTAINS SUGAR - CARCINOGENIC. One of Sam's favourites of those he tried this week. Thought it was more present than many others. Emily thought it wasn't bad, but not great either. Just orange, lacks other fruits that make up a rainbow sherbet. Although the orange does taste like the orange part of rainbow sherbet Not really creamy. Has some body. Will destroy coils.
30.20
LB Rainbow Sherbet: Emily would have ranked higher. Of the rainbow sherbets she tried this was her favourite. Very base-y and creamy. Emily thought that while base-y and not so tart at 8% it was still flavourful and fruity. ID10-T and Sam didn't find it that flavourful at 6% and 8%, not very bold. But has some depth. Tastes like rainbow sherbet. Mostly bright, sweet orange but some other citrus too. Also has some berry. Tastes more like blue raspberry than red raspberry, very candied. Could use it as a base for a rainbow sherbet. Wouldn't need to add more orange, just push raspberry a little more and add some pineapple, lemon (maybe VT Sour Lemon) or some lime. (Spelt Sherbert on ATF and ELR) Sam tested at 3% and 8%. ID10T tested at 6%. Emily tested at 8%.
32.36 and 37.16
FE Rainbow Sherbet: Does taste like rainbow sherbet, but mostly like a tart and sweet raspberry, orange candy. The raspberry has a little of a floral note. Really bright, really tart. Citrus which is mostly orange. ID10-T didn't get any lemon, but the orange is more tart than it should be. Lemon tart-ness without the lemon flavour. Full bodied. Bold. The finish is very sweet but dry. So would be best mixed with something that has a good finish, is creamy and that lingers. ID10-T liked it more than LB RS as it was more flavourful. ID10-T tested at 2%. Pretty bold at that concentration.

PART 2:
Noted Ep. 189: SHERBET AND SORBET
DV Sherbert Lemon: (DV spell it Sherbert) A perfectly fine sweet, candied lemon. But really weak in concentration. Sweet artificial lemon. Like Lemon Headz candy or lemon Kool-aid. No off notes. Lingering sweet finish. DV claim it's fizzy. But ID10-T didn't get any fizz at all, not even any powdery texture. Not a particularly special or amazing flavour, but nothing wrong with it. Definitely usable in a recipe. ID10-T would rather use VT Sour Lemon in a lemon candy recipe though. DV recommends using at 20%. ID10-T tested at 10%. Had plenty of flavour.
38.56
MB Rainbow Sherbet: Underwhelming. A bit soft, lacks punch. Similar to LB RS in it's softness, but a little softer. Does have all the right notes for a rainbow sherbet. Has orange, raspberry and lime. Raspberry and lime were a bit harder to pick out, but they are present. Creaminess isn't great. Sam tested up to 8%.
41.20
River Supply (Formally Nicotine River) Rainbow Sherbet: ID10-T thought it was the best rainbow sherbet of those he tried. Tastes accurate. Has the raspberry and creamy, sweet lime and orange. So actually has the cream, which many others didn't. Only has a little hint of lime, may want to add a bit more. Moderately thick, cream texture. Bold and flavourful. Could maybe use in something like a Starburst recipe, like a handful of different flavoured Starbursts. Or could use in any sort of mixed fruit candy recipe. An awesome flavour. But making a rainbow sherbet from scratch is probably going to give you a better result in the end. ID10-T tested at 4%. Had some slight off notes around the edges. At 3% worked better.
42.58
River Supply (Formally Nicotine River) Pineapple Sherbet: Tastes like real, fresh pineapple with a bit of sweet creaminess. Really good. The pineapple is a little soft, not as punchy as an actual pineapple. But that is perfect for sherbet as it would be blended with ice and creaminess which would subdue the flavour of the fruit a little. Could add a little of a sharper, stronger pineapple if you wanted to. Could add some cooling and maybe a little more dairy cream if you wanted. VT Yoghurt Drink would be a good addition as it has a good dairy, cream flavour. Also has a lemon note which would probably be covered and give the pineapple more of a citrus-y punch. ID10-T thought it would be great with just the VT YD, a little cooling and some sweetener.
45.54
VT Fizzy Sherbet: Not the US creamy sherbet, but the powdered, fizzy candy sherbet. Very accurate. Like Pop Rocks and Pixie Stix had a lemon flavoured baby! Very clearly lemon. Very bright, tart lemon. Although some people have reported that is tastes mostly like lime to them. One of the fizzy-est flavours currently on the market. At 1% Sam didn't think it was super strong, had a lemon note. Might just brighten up other fruit in a mix at 1%. At 3% definitely a lot stronger. When ID10-T cranked it up started to get hints of lime and grapefruit, but still mostly lemon. At 2% he got fizzy lemon. Perfect in soda recipes for making the taste carbonated. Works great in lemonades. Robust enough to be good as a SF. 3% is good if you are going to vape it solo as has a bit more character with the hints of other citrus and fizzy-ness is stronger. Very bright and tart. Hard to find flavours that give a tart, bright pop of flavour. ID10-T thought if you added enough cooling and paired it with a particularly syrupy fruit it might be possible to make the fizz mimic the gritty ice texture of a slushy. Maybe INW Shisha Orange? Or the combo of VT FS and INW SO could make a good orange soda? Use around 3% for SF. Sam tested at 1% and 3%. ID10-T tested at 2% and 3%.
48.06
INW Lemons Kick - fizzy. Has vanilla in it which ID10-T thought is a bit weird. Sam and Fresh really like it though.
INW Shisha Orange - tastes like orange soda.
Shurb by captaincannibal (ATF) A rainbow sherbet recipe with no sherbet flavours. %s are very high as it's a clone of a commercial recipe. Very bold, punchy. Emily mixed it a few years ago and thought it was delicious then. Uses 5% FA Raspberry and 6.5% FA Mandarin, which is very high. But also uses 3.5% TFA Cotton Candy, plus TFA Vanilla Swirl and TFA Whipped Cream which may mute everything down to a vapeable level.
