PART 2:
Noted Ep. 190: PEAR (ft. Mixman and Isuamadog)
Magical Flavors Pear: A Chinese company. Not a terrible candy type pear. Obviously artificial. Doesn't taste exactly like pear, but does taste more like pear candy than any other fruit. Pear-ish. Very sweet. Interesting powdered sugar like taste attached to the sweetness. Similar to OOO Powdered Sugar.
44.38
CC (Chefs Choice) Pear Drops: Mixman thought it was pretty good. Like pear Gum Drops without the sugar coating.
46.11
LA Pear:
Candy pear. Really one note. Flat, fake, but identifiable pear. Not really sweet enough to be candy. But lack realism to be anything but a candy. Tastes green-ish/yellow, without being lemon/lime. No off notes. But very meh.
ID10-T tested at 3% and 4%. At 4% is a touch acidic, lemon-y and harsh compared to 3%. Keep at 3% or below.
47.14
Gremlin Sinful Pear (One shot): Gremlin describe as 'crisp pear with cinnamon and graham.' Mixman thought it wasn't bad. He got the cinnamon, but didn't get much graham. ID10-T thought it wasn't terrible. But tasted a little off, especially the cinnamon. Got a definite pear note up front that quickly intermingled with the spice note. Clearly cinnamon, but not just cinnamon. Strange and almost chemically thing behind the cinnamon, maybe nutmeg or clove? Got clear graham note under cinnamon. but also had a bit of a raw pastry dough feel. Base rich and creamy with some vanilla. Full coating mouthfeel. Very slight coconut off note. He really liked the base and finish. But thought it needed a better cinnamon and bakery and maybe a better pear. Mixman tested at 10%. ID10-T tested at 15%.
48.04
Nic Vapes Pear, Fairy's Finest Pear and HC (Health Cabin) Pear: All candy-ish, sweet, pretty well blended. NV Pear has a very slight citrus note that's been blended in very well. At 5% FF Pear and HC Pear had no off notes, no throat hit. All candied- no pear flesh, no peel notes. Just sweet pear. Mixman tested NV Pear at 3% and tested HC Pear and FF Pear at 5%.
51.41
FW Pear: Sam thought it was definitely more of a candied pear. Hard candy vibe. Semi soft mid note. Thought it could be easily bullied in a mix. Wasn't very juicy. Thought it was a good candied pear. Mixman agreed with Sam. But also got a citrus note. Emily and ID10-T thought it's a badly underrated flavour. ID10-T found it to taste like a pear. Sweet, somewhat juicy. A little flat, not thin but a bit one dimensional. Thought it could easily get lost in a mix. Doesn't have mealy pear body. But tastes like a reasonably natural pear with no off notes. Got a floral edge at 4%. But 3% had around the same amount of flavour without that floral note. Might be perfect for adding sweetness and a little juiciness to another pear. Sam and Mixman tested at 3%. ID10-T tested at 3% and 4%. Got floral at 4%. Around 3% is good.
53.06
SSA Ripe Pear: Emily ranked in her top 5. Really liked it as it's bold and bright, but also has good base-y body and is sweet. Very robust. Slight bit of peel. Found it to be juicy up front but as it would tail off it became a bit dry. Sam thought it was reminiscent of MB Shape Up Pear, but a little bolder. Somewhat juicy, soft pear. Mixman got a tiny bit of skin. Juicy and sweet top and bottom notes, well rounded. ID10-T found it very sweet, thought its sweetness was the primary characteristic. Some crisp, top heavy notes. More or less natural tasting pear with a little peel up front. Then it was mostly just sweetness. Like pear flavoured sugar. A touch of juicier pear flavour in the aftertaste. But the sweetness made it increasing dry the more he vaped it. Needs some help with juiciness. Also too much blank, overbearing sweetness in the middle, so would need another pear to fill that in. ID10-T tested at 3% and 4%. At 3% had no off notes. At 4% got a little more flavour. Seemed like may be able to push even higher.
55.27
WF Ripe Pear: Sam found it a bit stronger than SSA Ripe Pear. More like a yellow pear. But didn't think there was a whole lot going on. Mixman found it to be very sweet and meh. ID10-T thought it was a great pear. Ripe, it's soft and sweet rather than crisp and bright. Not funky or weird. Similar to FW Pear and also seems like it could get bullied in a mix. But has a bit more presence and depth than FW. Slight skin note that tastes realistic, not floral. Seems soft enough to be used in a fruit juice in a similar way to how apple can be used to provide a generic background note to other fruits. Not juicy like a juice beverage though. Emily thought it was a good pear. Sweet with a mealy texture. Not super juicy.
58.58
FLV Pear: Emily didn't think it was very good. Funky. But she has used it very low, 0.25-0.5%, for the texture and hoped none of the actual flavour would come through! But now we have SSA and WF pears there's no need to do that anymore. Isuamadog found it hard to mix with as it's so funky. ID10-T thought it tastes like burping mid way through eating a pear. Mostly tastes like a pear, but with a bit of a regurgitated pear note. Definitely unique and could be useful but also a bit gross. Has an unparalleled gritty texture and mouthfeel. Not a good solo pear flavour. But at 0.5% or less and mixed with strong flavours it can be used for that texture without any of the pear flavour or burp-y off note. ID10-T used it in a sorbet recipe at 0.5%. Tested same recipe with and without FLV Pear and it really made a huge difference in giving body and texture of a sorbet. Didn't think it was a good pear flavour, but a good advanced mixing tool. Sam and Mixman enjoyed it. Sam got a slight astringency. Quite mild, very natural. A little under ripe. Could be juicier. Sam tested at 1.2%.
1.01.20
FLV Pearesto (Pre-Release Flavour): Not quite the same mealy texture and body as FLV Pear. But did get a deep, natural pear with some of that body and a touch of skin. Also one of the less crisp, more ripe pears. So if you want a cooked pear this could be exactly what you want. Especially a skin-on cooked pear, like a rustic baked pear or pear tart. Although it would still need help there. As with a lot of natural tasting flavour it lacks the punch of a more artificial, candy-ish pear flavour. But could add a small amount of one to it in a mix to push it it forward. Really good depth and natural type of skin-on pear flavour. Very potent. Need to use carefully. At 2% and 3% skin note is a bit weird in a unique way. Not quite floral, grassy or nail polish remover. But a touch of a weird amalgamation of all three. At 1.5% and even 1% has plenty of flavour and no off notes. ID10-T tested at 1%, 1.5%, 2% and 3%. Keep below 2% for sub ohm setup. Skin note gets weird at 2% and above.
1.06.17
SC Pear: Emily really liked it. Very sweet, bold and bright. Candy. ID10-T thought it was the best candy pear. Unapologetically candied. Much better than TFA Pear Candy or LA Pear. Like a pear Jolly Rancher or pear lollipop. Bold, sweet, a little tart. Tastes fake, but saturated with artificial pear. Even has hard candy flavour to it. Needs to steep for a few days to a week, otherwise harsh. (Available at Vaping Zone in US)
1.08.46
SC fruit flavours tend to be very candied and very bold and bright.
DEL Pear: Mixman ranked in his top five. Got pear flesh. Not too sweet. Some body. More on the authentic side than candied. Some juiciness. Has bottom note.
1.11.19
Ap-pear-antly by Cinn (ATF)
1.11.57
TFA Quince: Like apple/pear and very tart when raw. When cooked it brings out the pear flavour and a citrus, marmalade taste. Sam thought it was almost like TFA Pear, but without the peel note. Not tart. Got some green apple flesh without the peel. Slight astringency. Had a brighter citrus note. Sam tested at 5%!!
1.12.24
FA Pear: Very versatile and juicy. Definitely the juiciest pear flavour this week. Can be used to add juiciness to a mix without adding too much pear flavour. As a pear it's pretty light in flavour, not very bold. Mixman thought it was reminiscent of the pear in canned fruit cocktail. If FLV Pear is an advanced mixing tool than FA is a basic one that everyone should own. An essential, even if you never want to vape pear. May not have the best actual pear flavour compared to some others, but has great sweetness and juiciness.

PART 1:
Noted Ep. 190: PEAR (ft. Mixman and Isuamadog)
(Episode aired 16th February 2021)
(Ranked worst to first by Mixman)
RF Pear: Terrible. Odd lemon lime off note. No pear. Probably old stock.
9.41
MF (Medicine Flower) Pear: Emily has heard from lots of people that it's really good. Sam got a very light, natural, basic pear note. Would get easily trampled in a mix. Has some juiciness. Could be used as an accent to other pear flavours. ID10-T thought it was natural with no off notes. It was quite top heavy, but not super thin. The base would need filling in and needs some texture. But for the most part it's a pretty authentic pear. Those sensitive to off notes may like it. Mixman tested at 1%, 1.5% and 2%
10.37
MF have quite a few good fruit flavours. Mixman liked MF Watermelon, Black Cherry and others. They usually work well at 1-1.5%.
NF Organic Pear: Terrible. Doesn't taste anything like a pear. Indescribable off note.
13.19 and 15.00
EUR Fresh Pear and EUR Pear: Mixman didn't like either of them. At 3.5% EUR Pear had a distinct liquorice note. Not anise, definitely liquorice. Mixman tested EUR Pear at 3.5%
13.59
MB Shape Up Pear: Hyped up flavour. But Mixman thought it was unripe, perfume-y, kind of floral. Sam also didn't care for it. Thought it was still a bit light in flavour at 6%. Didn't get any perfume-y off notes. Didn't think it was that special. Good base flavour. Juicy. Didn't get any peel notes. But tasted a bit under ripe. A little bit of tartness, like a green apple type tartness. ID10-T ranked it much, much higher. Thought it was one of the best pear flavours, if not the best. Has everything you'd want in a pear and is the best pear, unless you're layering two or more pears together. It's bold, sweet, juicy, crisp with a lot of apple like texture and body. Just a little earthy realism. Fairly well balanced and smooth. No off notes. Found the pear skin note a little overbearing as a SNV. Doesn't taste artificial, but the bold-ness does make it a little less authentically natural. Not fake tasting, just exaggerated. Using it at a lower % and mixing with other pears could help with the realism. But the exaggerated pear flavour could work in some candies. Emily thought it had really good body, very fleshy. She found it a little soft and mellow at 3%. But thought it was overall a pretty good pear. Mixman tested at 3%. Sam tested at 6%. ID10-T tested at 4% and 5%, steeped for almost a week. Emily tested at 3%
15.25
TP (Tasty Puff) Pear Seed: Mixman got a weird off note, dry. Didn't think it tasted much like a pear.
20.07
TFA Pear Candy: Mixman got a lot of EM, he is sensitive to EM though. Sam thought it was more like a gummy candy than a hard candy. Also got a touch of a green apple peel note. Slight astringency. Like a pear gummy bear, but without the gummy texture. Emily thought it didn't have much pear flavour and got a bit of a plastic-y off note. After steeping for a week it was still plastic-y. ID10-T ranked it pretty low. Found that pushing to 4% was a mistake. Got weird. Off notes of creamy vanilla, cherry medicine and cotton candy on top of what it tasted like at 3%. At 3% didn't have a lot of pear flavour. More of a sweet, bright, slightly tart sort citrus-y thing that might be some sort of pear candy. Some pear-ish taste. Very sweet, sweetness it's most prominent feature. Lots of sweet, but airy body. Could be used to low to add sweetness and volume to another pear or apple flavour, but there are better options for that in the flavours tested this week. Mixman tested at 3%. Sam tested at 5%. Emily tested at 2%. ID10-T tested at 3% and 4%.
21.28
GF (German Flavors) Pear Yogurt: ID10-T ranked lowest of the ones he tried. Literally un-vapeable. Easily one of the worst flavours he has ever tried. Pear top note tastes as much like model glue as it does pear. Really sharp, painfully offensive. Behind that is sweet, creamy vomit. ID10-T tested at 4% and 8%.
24.46
GF (German Flavors) Pear: Candy pear and model glue, minus the vomit of GF Pear Yogurt. At 6% mostly model glue. At 3% it's light in flavour and about 50/50 candy-ish pear and model glue. ID10-T tested at 3% and 6%.
25.51
VT Pear: ID10-T thought it was funky, overripe pear. Not terrible, but there are a lot of other, better options for pears. Sweet, juicy, does taste like a pear. But has no crispness to it at all. Mushy. Like pear mixed with some funky, mushy, overripe banana flavour. Could maybe be used at a low % with another pear or apple to make it taste more cooked. Or to ripen a banana flavour for a banana bread etc.
26.48
OOO Pear Juicy: Mixman thought it was light and underwhelming at 2%. Semi sweet, a bit candy-like a bit dry. Mixman and ID10-T thought it wasn't at all juicy and even quite dry. ID10-T got a banana off note.
27.59
VT Pear Halves: Supposed to be pears in sweet syrup. Mixman thought is wasn't great. Some sweetness. A touch of pear. But the off notes are very distracting. Like pear halves from the 'Bent and Dent' can store!. ID10-T thought they nailed the sweetness, tastes specifically like the syrup from canned pears. The pear takes a backseat to that sweetness, it's subdued. Tastes a lot like VT Pear, funky. Like they were going for the mushiness of a canned pear and over did it a bit. Has a bit of a floral note in the background. Like so often happens with flavours with so much top note sweetness it's overall a bit dry. May be the best thing for a cooked down pear flavour, but he would add another pear to bump that aspect up.
31.04
INW Pear: Was reformulated a couple of years ago. ID10-T ranked just below VT Pear Halves. Sam ranked it as his number one. ID10-T tested the new, reformulated version. The old version was really good. Was bold, yet natural and a great pear for a pear forward recipe. Thought the new version wasn't great, but not terrible either. No specific off notes, but overall it tastes a little off. Tastes like yellow and green apple as much as it does pear. Some green apple tartness up front . Not really crisp, more like an overripe, soft and starting to go bad green apple or a yellow apple body. Like green apple skin wrapped around a yellow apple/ pear hybrid. He also found it a bit throaty. Sam wasn't sure if he had the old or new formulation, but thought it was the new version. Liked it. More of a brighter, top note than most of the others he tried. Nice, unique, yellow pear. Didn't think it was overripe or under ripe. Didn't get any green apple. Thought it was most comparable to VSO Pear. Mixman thought it was a bit reminiscent of the apple note in INW Bahraini Apple Gold. ID10-T tested at 2%.
32.31
VSO Pear: Emily ranked it much higher, near the top. ID10-T ranked it in his top 10. Mixman got a barely discernable pear with a hint of caramel. Sweet, but not juicy. At 6% Sam thought it was on the borderline of perfume-y. Seemed like it would get perfume-y if pushed higher. Tasted like a yellow pear, maybe a little overripe. Thought it was flavourful, yummy, different and juicy. Definitely unique, tasted different to others he tried. Sam and Emily didn't get any caramel. Emily really enjoyed it. Thought it was flavourful enough, not as mellow as many of the others. Not candied, very natural. ID10-T thought it was a sweet but subdued pear. Extremely pleasant tasting, no off notes. Vapes kind of soft and gentle, not a punchy flavour. Fresh, clean flavour despite all the sweetness. But not especially juicy either. Slightest touch of tartness, like a natural pear. Seemed like it would be easily bullied in a mix. Thought it would be a good background flavour. Has some body. Lacking the real pear texture. Might be useful for filling the mid-section out of a more top note-y pear. Tastes good, but lighter in flavour at 3%. Mixman tested at 5%. Sam tested at 6%. Emily and ID10-T tested at 3%.
36.32
Around 3-4% is a good level for most VSO flavours. Swaggy Shane from VSO recommends keeping VSO flavours low, except for Blueberry. Which he recommends pushing up (5-6%?).
CAP Pear with Stevia: ID10-T thought it was very sweet but with a bit of a bitter aftertaste. At 3% was a little less bitter but still had a lot of sweetness. Sugar lips finish. Otherwise not very flavourful. Got an earthy pear skin note, more like a natural pear. But then quickly gets very sweet and a little bland. Pear with an odd grape-y note. Like those grapes that are super sugary. Then evolves into a bland, but thick sweetness that lingers. Has a subtle, but odd vegetal, as opposed to chemical, bitter edge to it. But it's very full bodied and could probably be used to sweeten and fill out the body of a pear, apple or white grape. At 5% Sam Mostly a green apple/ pear peel. Pear was very light. Found it harsh. ID10-T tested at 3% and 4%. He definitely preferred at 3%, probably don't want to push it passed that. Sam tested at 5%
40.12
TFA Pear: Sam got a very present peel note - definitely natural, almost apple peel. Very sweet. Seemed like it would go floral if pushed too high. Emily thought it was thin and has a bit of a perfume-y quality. Mixman thought it was juicy, sweet and had a bit of skin. Well rounded with top and bottom notes. Leans towards candy. But the peel note moves it away from a candy. Even though ID10-T didn't rank it that high as a SF he thinks everyone should have it because there are some really great recipes that use it. Thought it tastes like a pear, has a bit of an artificial quality to it, but wouldn't call it a candy. Got a bit floral, bordering on chemical. Really earthy note that could be pear skin. Not super juicy, but not quite dry either. Has a ton of fleshy body, but lacks the mealy texture. He found it a bit harsh, but steeps out after a couple of days. Mixman tested at 3%

Does anybody knows the IDI0-T good recipes with TFA Pear he's taking about? Have this flavour for a while and yet haven't found a good recipe for it that it's not too much fruity. Any dessert recipes with TFA Pear that are good?
Placid Clone v7 with a 25% flavor reduction is always in my rotation. That said I've bought several unvapeable bottles of TFA Pear and I can't figure out what is going on with that flavor. Anything above 2% I get burnt rubber. I call it TFA Tire Fire nowadays and always go easy with it.
